YellowLight's review pretty much summed up my issues with this game. It's pretty, but it's just a tiresome errand runner set in a pretty, but very empty world. Oh, and the VO work...not for everyone. Feels extremely amateur.

    The game is just... pointless.

This initself could be interesting, if any thought at all was put in the flight mecahnics, which manage to be both janky and super basic at the same time. To add insult to injury, the game world is split between several loading screens, which only serve to bring the gameplay experience further down.

Since gameplay is pretty much non-existent, the game has to rely on its narrative, but the problem is, there is no narrative to speak off either. You get to experience small stories that play out when you fly from one place to another, and there is technically an over-arching story, but that simply ends meandering without ever really picking up the pace and going somewhere.

The dialogue through which the stories are delivered, while fully voiced, feels like amateur hour, both in terms of writing, and voice-acting. The worst offender in this regard, is the protagonist herself, Rania, as every line that comes out of her mouth is either whiny or preachy.

The one saving grace of this game, is its artstyle, which is admittedly beautiful. In fact, that's the only reason I'm giving it a score of 2 instead of 0. Too bad the beautiful design and interesting setting are wasted on a game with abysmal gameplay and awful narrative.

Pretty but tedious and boring. Story has no focus or tension, filled with pretentious dialogue and pointless characters with terrible voice acting. Gameplay is non-existend, exclusively drive von point A to B. Would have worked as a form of walking simulator with a good story, which it hasnt. On Foot sequences are absolutely terrible, slow, wonky and with camera issues. Don't botherPretty but tedious and boring. If I had to think of one word to describe this game: stiff.

The driving is clunky and stiff. The parts where you're walking around on foot are stiff, plus they feel like they go on forever because of how far you have to walk and how little you're actually doing at each location. All the dialogue with just about every character is stiff and uninteresting. I'm not sure why the soundtrack is available for purchase, because as far as I could tell, there wasn't much of a soundtrack at all. What few songs I actually noticed were mostly diegetic (like some music coming from inside a club I happened to walk past). after listening to the songs on their own while not playing the game, I couldn't help but think they all sounded like "generic atmospheric sci-fi tracks." They were all forgettable and, you guessed it, stiff. But the stiffest thing about this overwhelmingly stiff game was the voice acting. Good God, the voice acting is terrible. The main character of this game sounds more robotic than the actual robots she interacts with. Not even joking. Rania's voice wasn't the absolute worst in the game, but it was still painfully bad, especially considering the player has to hear her voice the most often.

To give some credit where it's due, I have to give a bit of praise to the game's visuals. After all, the visuals are what got me interested in this game in the first place. The massive, dark city in the sky is lit by the absolute surplus of neon lights which are plastered all over almost every building in the game. There's always rain pouring down from above and splashing onto the ground you walk on. The atmosphere created by the fantastic art style is oppressive, yet inviting. As someone who loves Cyberpunk settings in video games, this is the one thing the devs got right, and it shows.

Unfortunately, good visuals alone don't redeem this game and I can't recommend buying it. It's a shame too. I was really excited for this game.

Imagine you made a game with a dungeon full of collectibles, and a fun boulder-shaped yellow player character, and four ghosts that hunt down the player character. Could become an instant classic, right?

Imagine you made a game with a dungeon full of collectibles, and a fun boulder-shaped yellow player character, and four ghosts that hunt down the player character. Could become an instant classic, right?

Only here you get a quest "Go in the upper left corner and meet the cherry", and you do that, and than you have to listen to the cherry's life story only to get a new quest to go to the lower right corner and meet the blue ghost, who is going to tell you how his day went. Than stop and listen to a long monologue between the player character and his AI companion, before you can go to the center and have a chat with the peach about nothing in particular.

There was a perfect little crazy taxi/truck simulator in a cyberpunk environment in here, but for some reason that aspect of the game doesn't even get a backseat. Way too often you don't even get to listen to the dialogue while you move from A to B so that the story and the "game" are completely disconnected from each other. You can buy stuff at every corner, but have no incentive to do it, you can even furnish you apartment, but you never use it for anything. Every once in a while you have a time limit to get where you are supposed to be, which I'd normally hate, but it's never challenging.

So it perfectly fits the general design where everything that normally would be the game is pointless, and you are left with the story. It seems to be the centerpiece, but is only told whenever you finish one of your deliveries, meaning that it already has severe pacing issues, and often you get a passenger's life story or the player character's back-story instead, or the mentioned debates with her AI companion that are mainly comic relief in an overall narrative that otherwise doesn't even know how to establish a general tone.

While the overall presentation is very decent, but also quite repetitive, I was bored out of mind after a few hours, and mildly confused. it's lacking challenge, and there is no progression where you build up your skills or develop your character or get money because you actually need it for anything, So you'd at least expect the story to go somewhere, but - no. It has no momentum, no message - if I had to say something nice it's that it perfectly encapsulates the kind of talk you have with you taxi driver where he rambles on and on about his life and you just want to get out.

So if you were going for that, congratulations, ionLands. You made the perfect getting-your-ears-talked-off-while-sitting-in-cab-Simulator.

As it stands, the game is too much of a flyover experience — beholden to the cyberpunk genre’s conceits and, as such, mired in an aesthetic rut.

With a inspired recreation with voxels of a futurist city, great ambiance and a interesting story, Cloudpunk is worth checking out.

When you don't have any other games left to play you can play Cloudpunk. With great style, the developers were not able to tell an interesting story. On the other hand, we have a great option for those who want to play something against the background of show or podcast. Which is basically not bad.
