Not fun at all. Whoever did bl 2 did not do bl 3............You wait and have expectations. But this fails completely to continue where bl 2 left off...........They just killed the franchise......You can have the game back. I am done with borderlands forever.

Only get this game if you feel like paying 50+ bucks to beta test an unplayable mess.

This game's performance is absolutely abysmal. The fact they released it in such a pitiful state is mind blowing.

FPS can drop a bit when in 4 player mode and a lot is happening but other than that I haven't had too many problems. (Running a 1080Ti and i7700K at 3440 by 1440 normally around 90fps with a mix of med and ultra settings).

*Also to add one thing, I am very happy that they did not jump on the live service band wagon and stayed true to what the series was about. Also people the complain about Microtransitions being everywhere... there aren't any yet so your bias is showing =p

Overall it's a great game and I can't wait to play more and with more characters.

    - Like most everyone is saying, I can confirm that the game does indeed run like hot garbage and is buggy. Lots of FPS dips and small freezes/stuttering. This ruins enjoyment of the gameplay/gunplay.
    - I already wasn't impressed with the writing and characters from the different videos/trailers they put out. Tried playing the new Siren and yeah, definitely still wasn't a fan of her personality and abilities. In my opinion, they keep making the Siren class worse and worse with each successive game.
    - I only played a little but in that time I didn't experience any really cringe writing (it's Borderlands, being cringy is kind of par for the course though) but none of it was good. Just meh.
    - Multiplayer aspect sucked, nobody ever joined my game when I set it to public. When I joined another game it was with one other person who was doing a quest i hadn't even started, who was already almost done with that quest, and who was way the **** on the other side of the map. When I went back to single player, a ton of content was now skipped because I had joined him and it advanced it for me. What a joke of a game.

Anyways, the poor performance and bugs was more than enough to request the refund. I hear the game is pretty short and doesn't do much innovative - it's just more of the same, and it does seem that way. Not worth $60 imho and not worth supporting such terrible practices. Few other industries get away with the kind of BS that video game developers are allowed to get away with. It's sad.

So, Intro: whoever did the writing for the game should be lobotomized immediately, I haven't seen less creative storylines and quests in 40 years of my life EVER.

Middle: now you have guns for the sake of guns, the game just throws TONS of trash guns towards you, that don't really make any sense. After 10 minutes you stop caring and just buy a gun with biggest number in the corner. You can try to calc DPS, but it's pretty much impossible and useless to compare guns against each other. As for gameplay, game is too easy, after 4 hrs of play I've amassed $6000 and i had nowhere to spend this money on, enemies are never a danger to you, you just kill them like flies with no real challenge. Side quests are tedious waste of time. HUMOUR that was the essence of borderlands 1/2 is now dull, boring shadow of it's former self, it's not trying to make you laugh, it's just not damn funny. Hello, guys? Yeah, the previous borderlands were made in another era, now you've gotta be careful with all the edgy jokes or you get a bad press from SJW idiots whos feelings were hurt. I get it, 2K, yeah. But all of the above just killed the franchise.

End: Huge disappointment, I honestly want my damn money back.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall i'd say it's a great game but the endgame needs a polish. Obviously it's early days so I can't judge it too harshly but the high drop rates and guns having exactly the same gear score and fire power for the most part is a bit of a let down at level 50.

My 2 main criticisms of Borderlands 3:

    - The endgame is stale. After level 50 the guns are all fairly on par in terms of power, looking at purple and oranges only barring anointed weapons. The endgame itself is also stale at the moment as there is nothing to do after 100% galaxy completion and TVHM as TVHM was also just a copy of normal mode and offered nothing new. Obviously this will be improved in future updates but as of now I feel like after hitting 50 and getting a few guardian ranks and some decent unique weapons the game is just done and there is no farming or fun replay-ability. The loot drops at end game are too common and too similar in power that it doesn't feel satisfying when a purple or orange drops.

    - There are a few bugs in end game which make the game look a little unpolished 2 examples being the fact you can get over 100% galaxy completion, and the other being your guardian rank can go to a minus number which is also pretty game breaking. The second obviously being a bigger bust. Again they will probably patch this but it still adds a lack of functionality. A few annoying glitches too such as circle of slaughter enemies being stuck in walls.

    Regarding the characters:

I have only played Zayne and have 40 hours in the game. I am not a motivated person therefore will not be playing the other characters soon as Zayne is clearly the strongest and fastest character, and I find running at 3-4x the default run speed fun and other characters can't do that.

    Regarding the comedy:

It has never really bothered me, I am indifferent to the comedy in borderlands as some of it can give a mild inner giggle and some you just shrug off, but it's fairly harmless either way and it's a waste of energy to be annoyed at comedy :). The side quests have always been a bigger part of the comedy and some of them are pretty humorous: an example being the buff movie buff | tommy wiseau parody.

    Regarding the guns:

I feel like SMG's are too strong. Otherwise there is a lot of choice and the guns do feel different and fun to use.

    Regrading the enemies:

The variety in enemies in borderlands 3 is pretty amazing, the design of these enemies in contrast to their planets makes them feel like new enemies have been in Borderlands forever. An example of this being the Jabbers and Eden 6.

    Regarding the bosses:

The bosses are a tad bit too easy. I feel like the later bosses are far too easy making it feel like less of an experience to remember. The mechanics are fine but they could do with being sped up like they can be with mayhem mode. There are no invincible bosses as of yet which is disappointing.

    Regarding the story:

The story felt fun to play through and I don't really have any major criticisms for it as I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the DLC and how they will advance the story and create new ones.

    Regarding the characters:

I was a little disappointed that some characters weren't in it as much such as Kreig, Gaige and Ned but this was outdone by some new characters which I enjoyed - Balex being a new favorite, and let's just pretend Ava doesn't exist. For me pretty much all the characters introduced on Eden 6 are top content

    Other notes:

The planetary system and the planet themed music was well created and gave me a ratchet and clank vibe which was a nice nostalgic moment. I am not a fan of the new map system where it turns the mini-map blue when you explore it as I feel it looks better when an entire zone is covered when it is unexplored and vise versa.

Honestly, I don't know what all the complaints about bugs and performance issues are about. The game runs pretty smoothly on my decrepit hardware (8 year old processor and MB - 3 year old graphics card), and I've played 50 hours and only hit a single bug. This game is infinitely more polished on release than, say, Skyrim; which unsurprisingly has a much higher overall review score. This game is infinitely more polished on release than, say, Skyrim; which unsurprisingly has a much higher overall review score. If people are going to flock to the review boards and give a game like Borderland 3 a 0 for bugs, then I just don't even.

    ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY
It's solid. I felt like choice of skills/abilities matters a lot more in this game than its predecessors, good variety of weapons that feel and handle differently, much improved movement and shooting mechanics from the previous games. I mean... honestly, it's just really good, rewarding gameplay. I don't know about anyone else, but when I buy a game, I want it to have solid gameplay. That's the thing I care about. The GAMEplay, in my GAME.

    STORY
Eh. I mean, it's not great, I'll admit; but again, the writing is at least as good (if not better) than the overwhelming majority of AAA titles I've played this decade. It's nowhere near than the BEST of those games, sure; but that's a not a fair or reasonable metric, either. BL3's story is serviceable, and the pacing meshes well with the gameplay and the level design; works for me.

    CHARACTERS
Most of your favourites from the series are back; some with solid writing and great moments, others... less so. Which, like any sequel, is pretty much inevitable. In a lot of ways, this game suffers from the success of BL2; but judged on its own merit, the characterization is just fine. No complaints here.

    LEVEL/ENCOUNTER DESIGN
Even more than the solid core gameplay, this is where BL3 deserves the most props. The overall encounter and level/map design is exceptional. Lots of interesting terrain to keep encounters dynamic and interesting, good mixes of enemy units (for the most part) keep you changing tactics and (mostly) clever boss fights make for fun punctuation. Plus the maps have a healthy, but not excessive, amount of little secrets and discoverables to make exploring them fun. These teams did a great job.

    OVERALL
Solid game. I honestly can't understand all the vitriol. Except, maybe (just maybe) a bunch of whiny entitled **** who expected to get free review copies because they're some tiny youtube "celebrity" or twitch-streamer or whatever feel slighted and/or called out; and now they're flocking to the reviews to **** on BL3 because they are tiny, miserable, petty people... NAH; couldn't be THAT.

As a fan of the Borderlands series, I can wholeheartedly say this game blows ass. Multiple bugs, lag in online multiplayer, and that's on the technical side. In terms of gameplay, the drastic shift of how guns function compared to Borderlands 2. The bosses are overpowered scum. I've found myself dying over 20 times fighting the same boss. I wanted to love this game but i couldn't. I have 23 hours in it, I have encountered 2 gamebreaking bugs in story missions. I'm not making another character.
There are sync issues also. I lost the best pistol in the game due to it.
Avoid this game until they fix it if that's ever going to happen.

Those 9 and 10 reviews are full of Borderlands fanboys, that's a shame, the half of these reviews give those ratings because are for fighting the others, that's really pathetic.

And now, for the game. Is buggy as hell, the jokes are stupid before yes, but these are now cringeworthy. And the politics give his step at this beloved franchise. Don't buy the game.

my gameplay review: borderlands 3 takes everything that borderlands 2 and pre sequel did well and combines the 2, i found pre sequel to have a very vertical based combat because of the jumpacks and in borderlands 2 it was all about speed, right now in borderlands 3 i have a build on the character zane that makes it so the more im moving the more overall damage i do and also i have a jump slam(which is something i forgot about until late game) relic that will shoot out homing rockets meaning im constantly jumping and moving around fast making it a mix between speed and vertical combat. i have the person im playing with playing moze and they have a build that makes them a tank (literally) they have tons and tons of sheild and the more damage they do the more sheilds they get. these are just across 2 characters and not including the crazy modifiers you can get on the sheilds and the class mods. the bosses in the game are crazy, theres 4 vault monsters really (the rampager, grave ward, troy calypso, and tyreen calypso"destroyer") of all of them i love farming grave ward he is the fastest one to kill and gives some good loot, troy calypso is very unique and has some cool attacks, but the final boss tyreen calypso was insane, her attacks would always catch me off gaurd and her player model in visually amazing its this massive tentacle beast with a girl in the middle of it controlling it. it is a very difficult fight and has left me wanting more like a raid boss. thats where i feel this game falls slightly, im sure it will change as dlc comes out but theres no raid bosses from what we can tell, ive done alot of the side quests and still havent seen anything.

the story review: the story for this game is all over the place, i think because of the different planets it makes it almost falls under 4 big arcs, the promethea arc, the eden-6 arc the nekrotefayo arc, and the pandora arc. when they announced the planets i figured it would have been across 4 planets and very quickly but each planet feels like their own mini story, when on promethea your seeing whats happening with atlas corperation and rhys, when you go to eden-6 you get to see where the jakobs corperation is and whats going on with the hammerlock family, as you come to pandora you start to see whats going on with brick and mordecai also everyones favourite psychopathic deomolitionist "tiny" tina finally you go to nekrotafayo(i dont think im spelling that right) it is the home world of the eridians and man does this place ever reveal alot, after you complete the troy calypso fight you get the ability to read eridian writing and with this it finally opens the borderlands story right up the way we all wanted from the beginning, we learn everything about the sirens how they work how people become sirens, why the eridians were wiped out and why the vault monsters exist, in the end you meet a dwarf named typhon deleon, throughout the game you find his logs all over the place and find out that way that he was the first vault hunter and found the first vault, and also that he died getting to the eridian homeworld. im running out of characters so i will finish this by saying i love it. i love borderlands 3

Randy Pitchford made us a two word promise when Borderlands 3 was announced: "More Borderlands" Did Gearbox fulfill that promise? Absolutely. I have absolutely zero reservations about giving this game a perfect score, and I'm only about a quarter of the way through the first play through. From the poop and sex jokes to the comic-book art to the absurdity and general nonsense, this game is everything that the last three Borderlands games have been. That's all that was promised, and that's what was delivered.

    Disclaimer:
For a certain type of gamer, especially a certain type of FPS player (looking at you, Call of Duty), the Borderlands series will never be satisfying. It glitches. It lags sometimes. The weapons are sometimes useless due to some weird gimmicky projectile even though the stats are great. The skill trees and class mods require things like planning and strategy. Borderlands 3 would be easier for a Dungeons and Dragons player to pick up than a Battlefield player. It's an FPS for RPG players, Borderlands 3 has more in common with Diablo 3 than Battlefield 3, right down to the inside jokes and loot goblins.

    Technical Review:
DX12 support is listed in game as being in beta. Obviously, that means don't use it if you aren't prepared to drop all your settings. I have a Titan Xp, and on DX11, I'm running the Badass settings at 2560x1600 and getting 50-60 frames. I get 60 by dropping down to Ultra, and occasionally it'll drop some frames during a particularly intense mega battle, but otherwise it's pretty good. This is way better than I expect from Gearbox in general (no offense, but polish isn't their strong suit), and especially for a game I started playing on Day 1. Borderlands 1 still has major glitches and severe crashes as of the last patch (map-diving and infinite loot and etc). Borderlands 2 never quite got to flawless but the glitches never really broke the game. Borderlands 3 hasn't given me a single issue in 20+ hours of play so far except that one time I tried to use DX12. No crashes, saves always load right, etc. Sometimes the subtitles are a little delayed? Sometimes I get a mission vehicle stuck in a tree from doing stupid jumps and have to walk to a Catch-a-Ride to respawn it? Could be a lot worse for Day 1 launch (looking at you, Mass Effect: Andromeda).

    Gameplay:
It's Borderlands. More Borderlands. More guns, more missions, more world(s), more dialogue, more story, more impactful scenes (I cried twice already for real). There's suspense, there's excitement, there's moments of redemption and moments of tragedy. There's also a mission to make a bomb shaped like a pizza, a rocket launcher that launches raw sewage, characters that wouldn't be out of place in one of those weird edge-lord Marvel experimental studios, and CL4P-TP. So much CL4P-TP. The Lost Loot Machine on Sanctuary is great; forgot to grab a blue or purple or orange item? The machine will pick up the rarest item you left behind, and SDU upgrades let you expand the lost loot capacity as well.

One of the biggest changes over previous Borderlands games is that your weapons now require planning and strategy. Maliwan weapons need to charge up first, COV (Bandit) weapons have to be field repaired instead of reloaded and the repair times vary, Torgue bullets (called Gyro-Jets) are slower than normal bullets. So on and so on. Getting a good overall build makes a huge difference; you have to combine your weapons, class mod, skill tree, and playstyle into something that works together cohesively. Building a loadout feels almost like playing League of Legends sometimes; dying and respawning gives you a chance to buy, sell, and adjust as you go as long as machines are nearby.

The red text items aren't just for collecting and show anymore. Many of them have unique and sometimes game-breakingly overpowered special effects. One blue gun makes every 7th shot arc to nearby enemies for more damage. Boost your fire rate and reload speed in your skill trees, and you have a gun that can shoot a near constant stream of shock bullets that arc to any nearby enemies, and the arcs are also stackable; it'll arc to all nearby enemies. I got it at level 16 and am still using it at level 24 against Guardians and shielded enemies.

    Conclusion:
Remember when I said it was ridiculous? It's ridiculous. The entire appeal of this game is that it remains constantly on the edge of suspension of disbelief, never quite entirely crossing it, always teasing you just a little bit. It's a game you enjoy playing, not a game you play to win, or play to rank up and lord it over anyone. You play it because when you melee enough enemies to death, you get a challenge completion that says "Boop." You play it because you can light enemies on fire, then shock them, then fire acid at them, irradiate them, and then freeze them, all in beautiful cel-shaded graphics. It's a game that's brutal at times, but the fun kind of brutal. It's More Borderlands.

First major issue is no vertical split screen. I only play couch coop with my gf and it has been unplayable so far. $140 down the drain. Writing too small, slight lag when you move and shoot, echo menu lags and can take 10 seconds to change from page to page, npc's repeat themselves sometimes, guns disappear and reappear in your menu, the list just goes on. I wish I hadn't pre-ordered it and had high expectations because it has been so painful to see my all time favorite game come out with such a pathetic product. I understand that bugs happen, but this feels like the game was never tested at all. Sounds like they also have no intention of adding vertical split. Honestly... probably the worst game release of all time. Pathetic. I would give -10 if I could. Expand

It's more of the same, which is fine. What irks me the most is the lack of ability to skip cut scenes. This is painful when making a new character as you're wasting a good 5 minutes listening to a story you already know. Menus have never been a strong point of the series, and they remain a flaw. The map is an improvement though & graphics, while stylized, are visually better.

Being on epic or steam doesn't change my score, although I did have to purchase it through a third party site and use a key because epic would not let me directly purchase.

Ok. After beating the main story i can safely say everything that this game has done wrong and everything that has done right.....
    First of the good stuff:
    1. Loot progression is excelent. 2. Core Gameplay mechanics are fun (when they work). 3. The fun element is there, although very repetitive starting at the middle of the story (not gonna spoil but people who played it will

    3. The fun element is there, although very repetitive starting at the middle of the story (not gonna spoil but people who played it will understand).
    Now for the bad Stuff:
    1. The game IS NOT Borderlands 3, is more like Borderland 2.5.
    2. The game is a Broken Mess.
    3. The gameplay is laggy and broken, and it doesn`t have the stability to back it up.
    4. The monetization aspect of the game is another piece of **** that woasn`t necessary in this franchise at all.
    5. The Story is a dissaster.
    6. The humor is horrendous after the first hour you play.
    7. Randy Pitchford is still CEO of Gearbox (what world are we living in?)

    Conclusion & closing comment:

Buy the game when its on sale (or when they release a full patch and make it stable) or wait (because it will happen) for the Game of the Year Edition.
This game IS NOT worth full price at the state it was released.

This game runs like garbage. Tons of performance issues. They lost all the good writers that made the series what it was. They send goons to their fans houses to intimidate them. They have MICROTRANSACTIONS despite saying they wouldn't be in the game. This alone shows that the devs are liars.

And worst of all it's on the Chinese - spyware ridden Epic Crap Store. Stay away and save

Stay away and save your money. Fanboys are the only ones who love this one.

Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
