The jump from console to PC is unforgiving. Controller support seems to be completely abandoned and useless, game breaking bugs that ruin all matter of game play.

And the whole "Buy to win" factor makes the multiplayer very boring. Whats the point in advancing in this game if you can have rich kids drop $100+ just to give them a "fair chance"

I've near finished the base campaign. The action is fun, but the characters are a cliche and show little depth. The action is fun to play through... WHEN I get the chance to actually play instead of watching so many cut scenes or hands off ghost cinematic. BUT... I bought this game to play multiplayer so my score reflects my satisfaction in multiplayer only.

Multiplayer Battlefield 4: is simply frustrating... I loved BF: Bad Company 2.
-My biggest complaint exists with the vehicles. The vehicles are far too maneuverable. They can turn on a dime and attack any position. The vehicles make little to no sound so the player cannot tell they are even nearby or even directly behind the player. They can move forward and in reverse at full speed almost instantaneously. The cannons and guns also have no reduced speed to aim unlike in previous BF installments. This make it almost impossible to hide from a tank, the drivers can round a corner faster than a player on foot can run. And finally, THE TANKS and Helicopters MAKE LITTLE TO NO SOUND!! I cannot count the number of times a tank sneaks up behind my soldier while I'm running and not under gun fire. I can actually hear footsteps from other enemies on foot better then the vehicles. This needs to be fixed, how has this been overlooked? Stealth tanks.. yeah that makes sense. =/ It is telling that the developers do not even play this game. It is ****

-Latency issues / rubberbanding on servers where I 'supposedly' have a 20-40 ping.

-While searching through servers in lobby, many of the servers show there are 40+ players in game when there are not any in reality.

-The BF4 takes far to long to start unlocking the weapons and gear for each weapon must be unlocked separately. This takes forever. It ruins the balance of the game, especially considering these weapons and gear do provide a significant advantage of beginning equipment (stability, accuracy, recoil, spread for guns and longevity or speed when being attacked both in vehicles and on foot)
-The maps are gorgeous! however, they are not designed well from the perspective of being fun. A player is almost forced to camp and there are ~4 entrances to every building or roof. There is absolutely nowhere one can take a shot at an opponent that does not leave them exposed to retaliation fire.
-There is TOO much clutter to get stuck on in several maps.

Many bugs in multiplayer, every update instead of fixing those bugs add new ones. Also too much vehicle-orientated gameplay. If you want to play with infantry You will often die, killed by tons of tanks, helis, boats etc

BF3 BF4 hands down. Game play is a lot like COD and feels clunky and arcade-like. Hit detection is horrible as well as most of the maps, which promote camping sniping with no tactical movement. The Frosbite 3 graphics don't impress me and would rather have the graphics from BF3, even with the blue tint. The guns sound the same with the exception of the rate of fire. In simple words, -Campaign mode: MEDIOCRE. The equivalent of MOH Warfighter, graphics not a wow factor but not impressive also, the plot is devastatingly disappointing and unrealistic. Too short, plain, dumb, is "foolproof" and not recommended to serious gamers specially mature experienced FPS gamers. Is a total joke, I prefer to be insulted for free rather than wasting my time. Not deserving further comments on this lackluster game mode.

-Multiplayer: Is the same but online and sometimes with 64/32 players, totally disappointing, a waste of money to a FPS fan. If you were expecting Rush mode to be better you were wrong, maps are designed to the childish and amateur FPS full of vehicles, and unrealistic "realistic levolution mode" (only some maps btw) Graphically has some details taken care of, mostly in environment and vehicle details.
LAG, is awesome If there were so much trouble at BF3, in BF 4 is worse and horrible managed it has to be fixed asap.

Finally if you are looking for a nice and strategy based FPS you can always buy BF3, BF4 is the next generation of "call of duty multiplayer full of amateur/childish" kinda game. Do not waste your money and time this game is poor, amateurish, full of lag and nothing remarkable new just another "pop corn" over-advertised product, good luck, and see you on The real Battlefield at Battlefield 3.

The maps seem smaller than BFBC2 and BF3. When compared to the other games in the series, unlocking weapons in BF4 is a tedious chore for the average gamer. Unless you have an outrageous k/d ratio (higher than 2.0 at least) you can forget about unlocking any of the better weapons for a very long time.

Helmets have been removed too from character models giving the game an unwanted "Hollywood" effect. Who goes into battle without a helmet?

It's ***WAY*** overpriced for what it is (basically another unfinished CoD arcade shooter pretending to be a "serious" military game with massive pre-release over-hype). I loved Call of Duty as a game in its own right, but the obsession with trying to turn every... single... shooter/franchise... into a "scripted cinematic experience" is getting very tedious.

+5% GFX improvements do not seem to correlate with +100% higher system requirements. GFX somehow manage to look *worse* in some areas. The issue is not "everyone has slow hardware", it's simply a badly optimized inefficient engine in terms of quality/performance ratio. 4-5hr bug-ridden single-player campaign. "Levolution" just marketing speak for "dynamic map scripting" which is hardly unique.

"Ooh look! Pretty pre-scripted building collapsing" seems to be the beginning and end of BF4 'improvement' over BF3. It seems the more "cinematically scripted" new games become, the less fun they are to play in terms of actual gameplay. And given the game was released by EA (enough said), you can bet all of the premium priced DLC's will take priority over bug fixing...

I tried it and I saw it already from the beginning what it tried to do. I am specifically talking here about "single player" campaign. Perhaps multiplayer is more engaging, but I will specifically focus here on single player mode. The game tries, from the beginning, desperately to engage you emotionally, but it fails with boring non engaging dialog that lacks any depth or feeling. Then they try desperately to fill out your screen with like explosions, flying particles, wind, flying bullets everywhere, and gorgeous graphics, just to make you occupied with and stuff. I admit that it looks beautiful, especially outside in the open landscape. But there is little freedom in the game and it is heavily scripted and you get the feeling of being "directed" "hold in the hand" most of the time. This make game boring because they even deny you the illusion of freedom. The game is boring and non engaging and won't make you feel better that you were that sucker that payed 60 bucks or more for the game that is broke beyond any repair. I am sorry fans, but if you were expecting something more, something revolutionary, you'll be probably very disappointed. Better luck next time EA, witch I doubt it. Expand

The game wants you to support your team and work together, but the fact is, if you do not get a kill you are not getting much XP, if any.

If they really do want the game to be about working as a team, then they need to re-work this entire game from the ground up.

I am trying to like this game but I am now starting to think this game is broken to it's core. EA is finally acknowledging that they have a problem as they have suspended all work on the DLC's to attempt to fix this game. I hope they can, but I doubt it.

    Major flaws -
*Continued crashes even after two patches. Not as frequent but still there. (I have a titan, i7, win 8 etc etc top of the line rig 6 months ago).
*Spawn problems, you have a black screen when you spawn where you cant do anything but others see you can kill you, leading to your death even before you "spawn".
*poor spawn locations ie Daybreak spawns you in the middle of the road which compounds the above problem.
*Lag in the servers that seems to increase the longer the games continues. Not sure if the net can handle all of the increased data due to Levolution. Was not a major issue in BF3 way worse in BF4. Being killed behind walls is way worse than BF3 especially after the china rising patch (for me anyway, starting to become unplayable).
*poor hit recognition not sure if this is due to the built in lag, but sometimes even a still target at close range can't be hit. (even after the patches see youtube)
*have not fixed the minor annoyances of BF3 ie rockets seem to disappear in air if the firer is killed before it hits the target. Almost impossible to shoot someone jumping over an object. Phantom walls/rocks which stop bullets. Phantom twigs on the ground which stop you in mid -sprint until you jump over it etc etc.
    * Major weapon rebalancing needs to be down Ie DMR useless at moment. Attack chopper useless (not a bad thing) This is no a big issue as it will be fixed over time as some weapons get nerfed or buffed.
*numerous other problems see youtube, reddit etc.

I still hold out hope this game will be fixed as I have loved all of the previous BF games, but still after 2 patches and almost two months this game is still broken. I still have to give this a 2 out of ten, but will happily change this when (fingers crossed) this is fixed. Previous review below.

"Great game, great maps, great concept, but mega fail on execution, think SimCity. Every second to third game, the servers crash, leading to mega frustration. Once they get the servers up and running will be a great game, but they had the same problem in the beta and still have not fixed it. I would recommend save your money for now and look at purchasing it post Christmas when it goes on sale."

I've done all the troubleshooting EA has posted. Just like I had to do for BF3. Someone name another company that puts out a broken product over and over!?! This is ridiculous and I'm sure the people who put out Call Of Duty are just loving it.

As for me, I'm going back to Gamestop and buying the new Call Of Duty. Even though the maps will be smaller and there will be no vehicles, at the end of the day when I get a few minutes to unwind and game, I'll have the reliability that comes with Call Of Duty instead of this continuous

It's a 10/10 when it works. You can kind of figure out the rating, then. Guys, this is a really crappy thing to do to players. Though, I suppose EA is mostly to blame. You can take your Titanfall and shove it, I'm never buying anything from you turkeyneck smokers ever again.

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
