I mean what can say is that i bought it day 1 and it was little rough, but playable for sure. Now it's in way better state and even tho it needs more patching, early game (and by that i mean at least first 50 hours) is all good. What needs more work is endgame, but overall it's very well made, maps are huge and there's so much to do and explore.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the third game in what I like to call the “Ancient” trilogy, because it really makes sense, after Origins and Odyssey.

The core aspects and mechanics from the previous games are here, some stuff has been changed though, like the “RPG’ish” loot system from the previous games now it’s a more concise system where each weapon, piece of armor, shield, etc. now has a bit more of “personality”, as in we’re not showered by loot all the time now, as we used to before.

This has been paired with yet another upgrade system, where we can bring most items that we like using, because we like their stats, or their visual art or design, to higher tiers of quality, by using the materials like minerals and ingots we loot from chests and other places around the world. Most items will also change in appearance as they go from “bronze” tier, the basic one, to “silver” and finally “gold”, note that the actual names are different but I’m just using these as the color of the item box is actually these.

Furthermore, for gear pieces we can wear, we can find lots of sets, of five pieces, that provide a two piece and also a five piece, complete, set bonus. You can mix and match if you like, but of course there are obvious limitations, if you want a five piece bonus set, you want to find that complete set. Worry not, as finding these isn’t hard at all, each item description from the set tells us where to find all the pieces (just the region, though), it’s just a matter of wanting to explore the world and, trust me, you’ll want to explore the beautiful world in this game, it looks really amazing.

When it comes to combat, it feels a bit more meaty and vicious than previous games, the violence levels have clearly been increased, to reflect that we are, in fact, Vikings. It looks nice, some finishers are really flashy, but sometimes the combat itself can feel a bit slow and not as polished as it could have been, but not terrible. If you enjoyed the combat in the previous two games, you’ll enjoy this one, but I would say that Odyssey had slightly better combat, and in Valhalla it’s a bit more leaning towards Origins, but also not quite the same.

When it comes to PC performance, on my Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1070, the game runs slightly worse than Odyssey, but it looks quite good, even better I’d say, with lots of beautiful vistas, vegetation, and the view distance is not bad at all, it’s very similar in this regard to the previous games, you can see important landmarks from basically anywhere in the region you’re in and, of course, travel to them if you wish.

Running at Ultra settings, 1080p, no resolution scaling, the benchmark provides around 49-50 FPS as of Title Update 1.0.4; it has gotten a bit better/smoother with this patch, and possibly more patches coming soon, could improve things even more. We don’t need to play at Ultra though, especially not on a four year old GPU, so dropping some settings to Very High or High improves things around 10%, and with the Adaptive Quality set to target 60 FPS, the can sustain 60 FPS quite often, only dropping in heavy situations like monastery raids, but not by much. Paired with a g-sync screen, it’s not as bad , but certainly the game is more GPU demanding than the previous ones, for sure, so keep that in mind.

And when it comes to the story, we get quite the surprises and exotic places to visit that, if you know your Viking Mythology, you’ll surely enjoy as much as I did. The real world storyline continues where it left, more or less, and we also get some huge plot twists and developments there, setting up the future of the series, of course.

Secondary activities have been changed a bit, and some of them look like very short stories, quite easy and fast to complete, some have a lot of heart and fun interactions, but others feel like some random mmo quest or event, it was a mixed bag there, a little bit. I can see Ubisoft trying to improve on their writing for these activities, sure, they’re still not there yet, but it seems they’re at least on the right path, and there’s a lot of lore that this game touches, from the whole franchise, which gives me a lot of hope and kind of exciting for future games too.

All in all, AC Valhalla is not a perfect game, but after 150 hours and having completed all the challenges, except the fishing one (I’m taking my time, chilling, come on, I earnt it :P), and the one to avenge other players’ deaths, which seems completely bugged on PC, due to servers/connection shenanigans (possibly to do with the switch to Uplay Connect recently)….well I can say that I had a decent time. The game is long, especially if, like me, you’re a completionist, but that’s how it is in these cases.

I feel Ubisoft is coming back to the decent story telling for the series, the writers did a good job here, and I'm excited for where it goes next.

Highly recommending this one, if you have ever even slightly liked AC games. Hidden blade is back, you can remove your hood at any moment or wear it if you want. Both England and Norway looks incredible. There's so many places to climb and parkour. Graphics are also 10/10.

From graphical standpoint this game is absolute masterclass, they really hit the nail with both Norway and England. This game's soundtrack is one of the most beautiful and relaxing soundtracks i have heard in long time in any video game. Combat is good, cities look interesting enough. There's many places to climb and parkour on. Overall very good.

Most Kraken myths come from Norway region and it's very obvious that Kraken was likely just very large giant squid. At least that's what i like to believe, it makes perfect sense, because they are very similar. Giant squid is very much real, so i'm not sure why all games are avoiding it, past Assassin's Creed games have had giant squid easter eggs, like in Black Flag, so why not this time? Specially when region is absolutely perfect for that. Anyway other than this, it's nice game, beautiful graphics. Expand

As a long time Assassin's Creed fan i'm loving this one. World is so well designed, graphically stunning (Specially on PC maxed out, not that stunning on ps4). I have both versions, so when people say that graphics aren't that good, that means they haven't seen PC or PS5 versions, because these versions look incredible.

So much better game than Witcher 3. In Witcher 3 you just randomly kill some pointless goblins and dragons. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a surprise to me at least. After seeing the early gameplay of the game I didn't feel the game environment would have been as interesting as Origins or Odessey. However, I was wrong to assume that. The landscape in Valhalla is gorgeous and invited to explore and see. From the Old Roman buildings to the stunning Monasteries. This game is a sight to see. Now I'm not playing at max settings or 4k. I am on an ultrawide 35" 1440p monitor which is powered by my 2070 super. At very high settings I'm around 60-70 fps. At 4k and ultra settings I can only imagine the game is breathtaking. We were given a new feature in that of the settlement building. Which is a great added feature. Although it is rather simple is the process of getting only raw materials and supplies which mainly come from raiding. It lets you feel more in touch or connection emotionally with the NPCs and a place home. I hope with the future of AC games there will add some smaller touches such as being able to do your room or color the builds with either different wood types or just paint. AC JAPAN!!! Next is the storyline. The main character is good, I believe the voice acting and how the story plays favor the male this time around tho. Odessey I always felt the female role was way better. Not going to go into any spoilers but the storyline does grab you and immerses you into the world of AC Valhalla. (PLAY THE GAME) The sounds are great and even the movement of the NPCs and your own character makes the game feel alive. Other I guess feature of the game is the ability to keep any weapon and just upgrade it rather than having to keep switching out. This one I feel is not as grand as they make it seem. In Odessey, you could upgrade and keep your starting weapon. In one of my play-throughs, I only use Wolf's Sword. But back to Valhalla. This way of going about the game is ok, but I felt the armor and weapons were lacking very much so to the point of kinda boring. Yes, when upgrading they can change the appearance which is nice. With the limited amount of items, I feel the customizing for those items should have been a lot more. From color to the type of metal I would have wanted to use. This does not take away from the overall greatness that Valhalla has brought us. As for glitches and crashes, I have crashed 2 twice to the desktop with no error message or anything. It just disappeared like I never was playing. I have seen a glitch I believe when running at points as in my leg was injured and limping but I was not. Also, some sound issues when trying to blow the horn doesn't always work. After playing through and seeing the positive and negative/issues the game is without a doubt one of if not these best Assassin Creed game to date. If you have any interest in Vikings or even that time period in Europe I'm sure you will have hours of funs and enjoyment with this game. I can not wait for the DLC for Ireland and France. It could take this game to a 10/10 Expand

Graphics looks fantastic, stunning beauty of details even for my old ps4. Efect after water scenes are fantastic specially on legendary weapons! Legendary weapons are so awesome specially puzzles and cut scenes for it. Puzzles in this game sometimes made me stop and really think and i love it. I was afraid that there will be so much fighting that i wouldn't have AC feeling but I ended most of game in stealthy mood and those fights. You really can be assassin's creed stealthy guy/girl and fearless Viking in same afternoon! Voice acting for female is fantastic!!!
Story is brilliant, heartbreaking sometimes and serious but ridiculous in same time...

I absolutely love settlement addition on ac and this is awesome. Feels really like home. Love npcs and I'm just hoping that you will be able to explore deeper some npc specially one that os in romantic relationship with main characters. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
