Unity and Black Flag were Peak of Assassin's Creed, that's absolute fact. Those two games were both ahead of time and simply great! This is one my favorite Assassin games. How the hell did this one get so much hate for bugs, when way buggier games or equally buggy games get all the excuses in the world? So unfair. Unlike trash games like Fallout 4 that gets all the excuses possible, Unity is actually worth playing. Actually good game. The story and the characters are a lot more interesting and you will get dragged into the story from the very start. I read some of the bad reviews here and everyone is rating it a 0 because of low fps, calling it unoptimized. Sure its very demanding and sure they will optimize it more, but the game has insane details so low end and medium systems will have a hard time running this right now.

Still, its ridiculous to rate it a 0 because of that, this is the best in the series by far.

My only real complaint preventing me from giving a 10 is the story, which I found to lack clarity and purpose. But the gameplay is tons of fun, with more tools and freedom than ever to assassinate your targets the way you plan it. Expand

I can't believe this game gets such low reviews. I imagine it's all due to the glitches that it suffered at launch. I'm playing it one month later and it's working really fine. Some NPC sometimes behave wierdly, but you can live with that, happens in mostly all the games.

I am playing it at 4K resolution with a GTX 970, at max (ultra) settings and it runs fine, it may get slow FPS occasionally but come on! I could just reduce something and it would be smooth as butter always.

I read most people criticize it comparing it to Black Flag and the earlier games.. I'm not comparing it. I remember reading the same criticism about Black Flag last year. I think Unity is awesome, Paris is awesome and it's a pleasure to just explore it. There are so many things to do, and graphically.. man, it's a treat. Best graphics ever, except maybe just Crysis 3. The light, the effects.. it feels like playing in a '800 painting.

Maybe the average guy doesn't care about that. I do. And it's an awesome experience, worth the price (that by the way, got much cheaper considering the bad ratings).

And COOP is real fun, much better than the average multiplayer. There is a lot of content overall in the game, different kind of solo and coop missions etc.. you hardly get bored or see the end of it. I don't know if this is the best AC ever, it's simply a very good and fun one.

So yes, maybe it's good they release games with bugs, so people gets angry, write bad reviews and prices drop, and you also get for free what was supposed to be a DLC (Dead Kings). I think it's a steal now, just get it!!

Heavily underrated game that improved upon the traditional formula of AC games in so many ways without losing its identity. Because this is at its core what an Assassin's Creed game should look like:

No pirates, no Indian tribe story, no Grand Theft Horse Carriages - just grounded urban assassinations and infiltrations. In addition to that we have the best parcour system of the series with great fluidity and animations, a challenging combat system with a huge variety of weapons and great character customization through equipment.
Now, they did go too far at some points, for example the skill tree, who is just absolutely unnecessarily restricting your gameplay options, but that's okay. The biggest problem however remains the lack of polish. The game did so much new stuff and improved upon so much on such a large scale, as a result controls can become inaccurate and clumsy (best seen when trying to enter through a window or trapdoor) and bugs still frequently occur.
Gladly these are no longer game-breaking as they were on release, who as it seems still unjustifiably taint the user score of this brilliant game here on Metacritic. Performance and framerate are also good, considering the beautiful graphics and scale of ingame Paris.

Sadly, many of the improvements made by Unity were reverted for the succeeding entries instead of polishing their rough edges. Because in Unity we have: Co-op missions, great character customization, freely approachable assassination missions, a challenging and interesting combat system, the best parcour system, detective missions and much, much more including minor improvements like not having missions fail instantaneously but instead offering new objectives to make up for failed attempts and more.

So, if you like Assassin's Creed, history, or 3rd person action games in general: Buy this game!

I do know that some are experiencing glitches. All I can say to them is to make sure they have the latests drivers and to disable SLI entirely to see if they still have problems. Another solution might be to disable 'Motion Blur' in the graphics options. Although I have a 5960X with a Palit GTX 980, I still think that players with less powerfull setups could easily manage to get the game going ...

But a very good CPU (at least a 4xxxK) should be used to play this game. Yes guys, read this well: mid-setups from 4 years ago are not going to give you a good framerate in this game. And a 4770K is not this good compared to a 3770K. Maybe you should go for a new PC if you have this type of setup as all future games are going to be very demanding on the CPU side of things. In fact, the main engines are evolving right now to match the new baseline enacted by cur-gen consoles. As such, the PC basic requirements are already evolving right now ...

To other users: I'm getting 45-59 frames with all maxed/FXAA. GTX 770, i5-3570k. For those of you with performance problems I'd say to fix your settings, and compare with performance you got in Black Flag. Don't try to run Anti Aliasing passed 2x or FXAA, because it is ridiculously demanding as any PC gamer should know.

The fact that this game gives me very similar performance to black flag is commendable, the game looks beautiful. Usually when a sequel comes out to a game a year later, you can expect it to be more demanding on your PC. This game is decently optimized. As I said my setup is modest and I'm cruising through at an average 45 frames with visuals turned up all the way save AA.

It used to be that when a new game came out and your computer had trouble running it, you would play it on medium/low settings. If you can't handle tweaking your graphics grab an XBOX.

Honestly if you expect this game to run better than Black Flag.. Don't comment on performance at all. Look, I know it's trendy to rip on ubisoft, but doing so doesn't make you knowledgeable about system performance, Rate the game for its gameplay and story and stop rating good titles like this into the ground because your computer sucks or you are incapable of configuring your system or proper graphics settings.

Vsync disabled in-game but forced vsync through D3Doverrider or Radeon Pro boosts performance significantly and screen tearing is almost non-existing. My Resolution is 1440p on specs: AMD fx8320 clocked at 4Ghz, sli 770 4gb cards w/ 8gb ram. SweetFx enabled to improve graphics dramatically.
honestly, this game rocks! Performance and optimization is not great by any means but even running in the mid 30's fps, the game is very smooth. ** I have tested this game on a single 770 card at 1080p w/ max settings and i never drop below 35 fps with sweetfx enabled** so if you have a single card of equal performance to a GTX 770 4gb, running max settings @1080p is a reality you can expect with smooth gameplay.
Playing the game will make you understand why the performance is lacking even with a beefy PC. The graphics are unparalleled and the amount of detail is incredible! Hundreds of characters on screen, life like surroundings, lighting, reflections, shadows and tessellation effects like never before seen!
Gameplay is fun with new free running moves and fighting mechanics. Story is not mind-blowing but it is engaging. The environment is so incredibly well done that you will want to explore every inch of the world you are in.
I dont understand why others are having performance issues with better specs than mine.... reports of fps in the 20s with 780ti??? Something doest add up. Play the game!! It is great!!

This game has a very good storyline and I like how it feels like an upgraded version for the first Assassin's Creed, you have one hidden blade which is exactly like the first game, you have Arno which looks like a French Ezio and the graphics are amazing! I may play this game on the lowest settings and on 800x450 resolution with scaling but I can still tell you that the graphics is amazing because I don't really care about graphics alot, mainly I care about the performance and storyline. My laptop is a i5-3317u with 6gb ram and nvidia GT635M and I run this game at about 15-18fps with quite smooth gameplay. I would give this game a 10/10 if there weren't any problems but since I gave a 9/10, there is a problem. First of all, the performance, yes the performance, I have seen people with GTX graphics card reaching low fps and I know Ubisoft can do better than that. But the problem which made it 9/10 is the fact that this game has been worked around for 4 years and in the 4 years, Ubisoft has been busy making this game but still delivered a...well... poorly optimized game. Ubisoft, Alex Amancio, stop the microtransactions please. < Another problem stated. Now, my next problem isn't with the company but with people, most of them at the very least. Since technology and industries have gone bigger and bigger, people strive for AMAZING graphics, for AMAZING storyline, for AMAZING gameplay... yet all I see now are people complaining about unsatisfying graphics like 90% of the time. If it is graphics you're looking for, then why do you play these games? For entertainment? No, entertainment doesn't have anything to do with graphics, it's more towards storyline and gameplay. You play these games for... as I would say, art, not in the way where I would see. My art is about storyline, gameplay, playable decent graphics. I wouldn't mind having graphics like the first Assassin's Creed for AC Unity as long as I enjoy it. But your art is about beautiful, amazing looking environments, amazing looking characters, hair details, eye details, every single bit of texture is your concern. You do not care about the gameplay or the storyline, you care about graphics. And this is why companies are able to deliver poorly optimized game or even optimized games that doesn't even satisfy you. They worked their asses off to create games and yet all you care about is graphics(90% of the time) which is like less than half of what they want you to experience. They may tell you to visit beautiful Paris in the 18th century, they may tell you to explore the Notre Dame de Paris with beautiful details. But games like Minecraft, you enjoy them not for the graphics right? Then stop complaining please, I may sound like a butthurt person... well maybe I am kinda but seriously, companies deliver what you want them to deliver, companies only make games with amazing graphics because YOU wanted them, if you were like "I want an amazing storyline for the next game in the series", then they would decrease their work on the graphics and more into the storyline. Yes this game has glitches and bugs, but that's the risk you have to pay. I also seen reviews saying that this is a copy of the other AC games. And honestly, this brought me to the thought when someone(forgot who was it) that reviewed saying that Pokemon X and Y still feels like a Pokemon game...like wtf? How do want Pokemon to feel like? Like Call of Duty? Pokemons picking up guns shooting at people like GTA? No! Assassin's Creed games are third person, checked. They are about going back to history, checked. They have free roam, checked. The Assassins have hidden blades, checked. Assassins do parkour, checked. I don't want an Assassin's Creed game to be first person shooter, I want it like how it originally is. Like Call of Duty or Battlefield, it started off as a FPS and it still is a FPS. Games have their own respective types as I would say. I can't say more, I'm in lost for words a second ago and I thought I would be able to write down alot, well... If anyone who is reading this, just think of what I said and think of the future of the gaming industries and gaming itself. Expand

Best AC game without AC2! Runs around 30 fps on my overclocked gtx 750ti! The only bad thing is that the game is very bugy! I love the story and the open world.

People are the hugest complainers when it comes to games, especially big game series. I've been playing Unity on PC which is supposed to be the buggiest by far, and I've experienced maybe one bug. Everyone hopped on the "IT'S BROKEN" bandwagon just to cause a lot of drama, but it really doesn't have many problems at all. It's an incredibly beautiful game in an awesome setting, extremely cinematic, the characters feel very alive, and all the changes to gameplay have been a ton of fun. You don't even need to have played the last few, the plot can stand alone on its own. I'm definitely recommending it, especially since they've pretty much patched all the problems anyone was having, and are now offering the first two DLC's (which are huge expansions) for free. Amazing game! Expand

this game looks amassing and plays quite well. I have an older x58 platform with an x5670 and must say that it really is a very decent and wonderful experience.

Of course my gtx 980 probably doesnt hurt but i find the game smooth and solid. i was getting the occasional crash till i lowered my gpu overclock which works fine on other games. Really though, dont even need to be

Perhaps its because i waited before i ever started playing it, maybe its the patches, idk. Alls i know is that unity is working fine for me and i am really enjoying it. There is so many times i find myself admiring the screen. The graphics have really really great looking moments that are rare in an open world game. A lot of polish but there are some not pretty things to. But it is easily forgivable cause there are just as much stunning. i love games that impress and if you have specs enough to play on ultra, this one sure will.

Assassin's Creed Unity is a typical AC game.It has the same formula.Parkour, investigate, kil etc.But that's what made me love Assassin's Creed Unity.Though this game does not have some certain important elements (Pirate Ships anyone?) It has some new things also. And most of the people on Metacritic who give review for the games, didn't even buy the game! This game is fabulous now! If you got the cracked one, then this game will stutter and freeze.I admit that this game was bad at launch. But now with the patches,it's quite good! The multiplayer has story-oriented missions which I enjoyed! I definitely recommend getting this game now,as it has been fixed. There are still some issues. But these can be overlooked. Expand

As an Assassins Creed fan , i must say this is the second best AC game in the series, following AC 2. The story is very beautifull, and the graphics are amazing. I really dont understand how people can hate such a game. I havent had any problems at all running this game. My RIG is: cpu Amd fx 6300, gpu Club 3d r9 290x, 8gb ram, standard HDD, psu Zalman 700W. The game runs 90% of time at 40 50 Fps , very rarely droping to 30( doesn't make a big difference). I would have given the game a 10 but i am really anoyed about the, PAUSE MENU OVERHEATING THE GPU, ( 73 degrees maximum), wich is clearly a game problem , not the GPU. Expand

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
