The graphisme are great, mechanic are good. . .

The rest? Well storie lock behind grind wall, and not so good. Character customization, lock behind a grind wall or pay. Gamplay? only repetitive quest. The universe, outworld is empty, hub is lifless.

As said by someone: The graphisme, game mechanics, and art is as wide as an ocean, but gamplay, stories and soul as deep as a pudle.

The story of Anthem is enough, but it does lack a lot of depth. With how well acted the parts we did get were there is a clear miss on what could of been had the story been flushed out to closer to 35-40 hrs instead of just 25-30. Once completed they tease more but I found myself a little wanting as with a new world I wasn't fully immersed with what was here.

The combat is satisfying and at times amazing, flying around is a treat. The gun sounds and music as you combat enemies is outstanding. The combat at other times though is utterly frustrating in design (looking at you GM2 and up strongholds). The loot drops will keep you going as there is enough of them, however diversity of gun models etc. could be more numerous.

Overall Anthem is a game that will satisfy looter shooter fanatics and is not a bad game to play through even for a few weeks via the origin pass rather then outright purchasing the game. You can see what will be a year from now and see a game that will be much more deserving of a 8-9 score by then but unfortunately at the end of the day the lack of polish leaves me wanting a bit more.

    4.0 user score?

    Huh?

My first couple of hours in, I maybe would not have rated it highly either, especially if I was having technical issues (which, on a Ryzen 5 with 6 cores and a 1080, I am not).

It takes a slight investment of 5-10 hours to understand the different game modes, do some freeplay, do some quests, get some gear, learn how to fly, learn how to combo, etc. A lot of weapon types and abilities are just not available to you until the gear drops via RNG. If you hate the class you picked you can also make a new pilot and choose a different javelin.

The only biome that doesn't exist in Anthem is Tundra and Desert. As for lack of biodiversity, I honestly don't know what people are talking about. There are tons of interesting enemies with interesting and unique combat abilities and tactics that require you to read and react appropriately to succeed in combat. Killing stuff is fun.

The worst part of the story is the opening tutorial. They throw a lot of high concept stuff at you that just seemed over the top to me. But once I took on some more quests and realized the story really is about the people in this world, I relaxed and enjoyed it. I came to love the characters and their voice work (and their animation, which is extremely well done). Some of the little side characters are quite hilarious. There are interesting scripted conversationis you can eavesdrop on as well. They are just tiny little nuggets, but there are a lot of tiny little nuggets in this game that speak to the love and sweat that was poured into this game.

I am a huge Bioware fan but did not have high hopes for this game because of EA's involvement. From what I hear they were pretty hands off, and I think it shows.

Bioware made a great game with Anthem, I hope more people give it a chance.

I love it and for a fresh, on release game, it's better than a lot at and does need some work look at something like Warframe when it first came out today. I would have gotten butchered in reviews . its like PC gamers are getting fed up but some are taken it 2 far. I like to see what they do with the game for game of life development before they cram an anthem 2 down our throats

Bioware made this and from them, you would expect a thrilling story that captures you and get you invested into the game but nope something went wrong with the story and it's a big buggy mess.

The only good things about the game are flight mechanics and the graphics, combat. That's it.

Emptiness seems to haunt Anthem and you can feel it from Fort Tarsis up to a small world filled with living creatures barely there. The world looks good but it's missing so much content for 60 dollars. Hate to say it but Destiney 2 had much more content at launch compared to this. Some mechanics are just poorly made that you start to really question the reality on who really made this game and how did it make onto the final game. Some mechanics are just missing like the Waypoint you can't even put a waypoint on a map for this type of game. It's just something that should already be in the game.

The loading screen sure the loading times has been shorted but the problem still remains. They should focus on removing most of the loading screens cause it's supposed to be open world but it's not. Buy Anthem and you get a loading simulator with the game. There was an early alpha and then there was the Vip demo and then Demo yet most of the bugs were reported early on and most of it should have been fixed by this stage. The Demo was supposed to show players a ting portion of the game but in reality, it only showed how poorly made this game truly is. Even the Division 2 beta had more content in it than the Anthem Demo. Right now this game is just barely worth 5 bucks in my opinion. There is so little content for the price tag they ask for it. So much is missing from the game and this game feels almost like an early access title that you pick up from steam hoping that they will update it and make it better as time goes. Shame on Bioware and shame on EA this game could have been one of the greatest game ever. Stay away from this game until they really start to add good content or just wait until it goes to sale for 5 bucks. Right now the score for this game is just a simple 0 out of 10.

At least the game is fun to play with friends. I want to think that the game will change towards the end and get better but I know that I'm just lying to myself. Anthem is not worth 60 dollars. Hell, EA doesn't just want 60 bucks. They want you to buy emotes, skins, crafting materials, and whatever else they can figure out how to monetize. For me it is a fun game I can play with friends without the stress of it being competitive. I always enjoyed loot based ARPG games such as Diablo and this hits the mark very well for now. Is it revolutionary? No, but it is at least as good as other similar games and if Bioware stick to what they are saying they plan then I think it has a bright future.

The game plays very well and feels very satisfying flying around, using abilities and shooting things. I was actually a bit surprised about the variety of play styles you get between the 4 javelins and the gear choices on each and that is before you add in the masterwork/legendary equipment which open up a lot of options that would not have been as good with just the base skills.

I feel that people who are writing hate reviews are expecting Anthem to be a different game than it is, it isn't a Mass Effect or Dragon Age style story with world changing events based on the users actions, but it never intended to be that. It is a looter shooter with some RPG elements and that is what it should be rated as.

Getting to any of the content is roadblocked by loading screens and hubs, the performance is lackluster, and the meat of the game, the combat, just isn't all that great. I kept getting the feeling that I was missing something. After ten hours of searching for that something, I stopped caring.

Try it out with EA access, if you must.

Disclaimer: I hate shooter looters and I am a huge fan of the pre-EA Bioware. Please note that the game is being roasted by delusional gamers how think that today's Bioware is the same company that gave us classics titles like Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age:Origins and Mass Effect. I am in peace with the fact that it is a different company under the same commercial name.

    To the point:

    - There is a story. You can like, you can hate it. It's subjective. There is a story that goes from level 1 to 30. This is the only reason that kept me playing. My time with Destiny was 5 hours total. Yes, it is still an idiotic shooter-looter but you have a story around it. My only objective caveat around the story is the artificial grind lock they implemented with the Tombs quest. This is a cheap and unacceptable way to extend the story.

    - Graphics and sound: outstanding. Your first five hours are a guaranteed exhilarating experience, as long as...

    - Bugs: the main issue during my play time was the random disconnects. Specially when freeplaying (damned Tombs quest) and having all my progress and loot reset.

    - Loading screens: please do not buy this game unless you have a SSD. Mind you, having a SSD will not completely solve the problem as the core issue is the NUMBER of loading screens, not the speed. There is also a 'Day 1' patch that is supposed to fix the frustration a bit although I am skeptical as the issue is rooted deep in the game design.

    - Overall gameplay and mechanics: the experience is pretty solid until you play Grand Master difficulty and above. When you do you will start realizing a lot of weird things happen during fights (enemies disappearing, one-shot kills from invisible IA, powers not triggering properly, etc.) You can clearly see here the lack of expertise of the studio in the genre.

    - Content: yes, missions are very repetitive and feature ZERO innovation vs. other titles in the genre. Fort Tarsis (your HUB) feels empty and boring. Everything is extremely staged.

    - Loot: real loot starts at Grand Master. Until then it's just the same with slightly different stats and a different icon color. Grand Master items are very much unique with special characteristics and it's actually pretty cool.

    - Endgame: very limited at this point in time, but to be expected and in line with the industry. It is nonetheless a very good foundation to keep on building stuff.

    - Microtransactions: cosmetic-only for the time being.

Conclusion: this game is a solid 7 in my opinion. If you expect to see here Bioware's previous magic you will be frustrated. If you expect to have cutting edge game mechanics, loot and endgame you will be disappointed. I concur with the reviews that highlight the fact that the game tries to cater to audiences so different that falls in no-mans-land. It still surprises myself that I was able to put over 30 hours of my time, which obviously justifies a purchase in my opinion.

Why people expected more than a shooter-looter because of the Bioware tagline is beyond my comprehension. The game is exactly what I expected it to be since day one. I could not possibly hold any other expectations after Mass Effect Andromeda.

Lacking characters, boring hub, uninteresting gun-play, and combat that just grew stale after a few hours. The game was gorgeous, when I was stuck in loading screens for up to 5 or so minutes (Mind you, the game was installed on my SSD) and when it wasn't experiencing horrendous pop-ins. But beyond that, and the fun flight mechanic, it honestly was just... Lacking. I'd been waiting so long for this game, hoping that BioWare would retain that old BioWare magic and charm, and that Andromeda wasn't a sign of what was to come.. But, honestly I'm left disappointed, only grateful that I only had to pay 15 dollars to play the game, thanks to Origin Premier. Admittedly I haven't finished the campaign, I couldn't. I just couldn't hold interest in it.. It just wasn't an interesting story, and the characters within this world are just.. Range from irritating, to lifeless, or simply uninteresting, which is sad given how good the VA work actually is. What makes things worse is that from what I've seen, the diversity of areas for the missions beyond what I've played isn't any different than the zones and types of missions I've done myself. The areas while good looking, are all.. Similar. There is a massive lack of Diversity, and this carries into the end game. 3 Strongholds, one of which is the final mission of the story, Daily missions, and Free Roam world events make up the whole of your end game.. That is.. Just not enough, not fun. Especially when many of us have already played one of those strong holds to death from the Demo. I can only hope that this game improves in the future, and that it does at least one thing that Destiny does, and manages to bring itself back with some sort of well received, and wonderful update or content drop, much to the vein of Destiny's Taken king, or Destiny 2's Forsaken. Hopefully one day in the near future I can come back, erase this review, and give the game a much better one in it's place. Expand

Ill have to use the same character and skin for the whole game because each one costs 20eu. Even thought I've payed the game 60eu. EA just skips spitting **** in the face of players.

Also, maybe "more importantly", the game is unplayable. I have a more than capable rig and internet connection, and yet the game crashes randomly and keeps disconnecting from the network. I really like how they say its a problem on 'my end'. Best part: it also happens when I play solo. Best appart again: it happens WHILE im watching a cutscene, SOLO. Best part again, when that happens, the game sends you back to the start menu, AFTER a loading screen. Then youre on for 2 more loading screens.

Ive had 11 disconnections and more than 30 rubber banding situations (3 caused me to die, thus reload) IN 2 HOURS of gameplay! Ping of 6, download of 20m/s. 1 hour being solo.

This game isnt open world. It has horrendous loading screens, even on an ssd. Hell, the UI to customize a Javelin has a loading screen of 20s! (Count +30s when youll exit the UI).

    - player HUB is one of the most lifeless places I’ve seen in any "MMO"
    - uninspiring loot, weapons looks all the same
    - connection error

With the level of communication, efforts and ongoing updates BioWare are making, I believe, albeit a little rocky, the foundations for an incredible live service and game series has been set. I can't give anthem a 10 due to some issues and bugs but I really look forward to seeing how this game develops over the coming years.
    Pros -
Combat and Fighting is damn fun
    Wider Graphical World of Bastion
Character Development and interesting story set up *not fully developed but to be developed*

    Cons -
    Bugs and UI improvements required
Fort Tarsis is a city simulator which breaks immersion
Clarity/Summary of what stats on equipment does is required

Anthem presents a fantastic opportunity and I highly recommend it to the fans of looter shooter games.

Bioware destroyed by EA too at long last. They somehow managed to hold their own for a decade before their soul evaporated for good. Anthem is a soulless, naive, contentless, primitive looter shooter with messy gunplay and minimal mission variety. The game is obviously incomplete and any RPG elements are simplified to the extreme. RIP Bioware.

There simply isn’t enough to do in this game. Getting missions is a tedious process of being forced to enter into dull conversations with NPCs. I found myself hitting esc to get through seemingly endless amounts of dull conversations just so I could get a generic mission. The game also has a fair amount of bugs and network issues. I’ve gotten random disconnects, the sound cuts out randomly, missions don’t updates on certain steps, and you sometimes get stuck in endless loading screens. I’m sorry this game needs at least another 6 months to a year in development. This game is not worth full price. It’s at best a $10-$15 game. Expand

Loadings are a real issue here, I installed the game on a SSD raid 0 setup, so it's not taking too long, but it takes a little to load all the necessary data, but I would say that is not the loading time that ruins the experience, is the amount of loading the game has, that is the real problem.

Frankly I haven't played a lot of it to make a concrete statement about the story, but of what I've seen till now it seems interesting, Im trying to play it paying attention to the plot and reading all the lore, so I think it is a rich world and you can see that they created that world with love and commitment.

This kind of game tend to be a little repetitive, I mean, look at Diablo, it is a dungeon crawler and it is pretty repetitive sometimes. To be stronger you have to grind and look for good loot, that is what Diablo and Anthem is about, so they are repetitive that is inevitable.

I just want them to keep pushing and improve the game as much as possible, add new content and so on. Dont be promiscuous when it comes to microtransactions, EA is greedy and its a real and constant risk to this game, but we have to understand that to work as a live service it needs funds to continue to improve and polish more and more, even be heavely upgraded in the future. Today the economy seems reasonable, but EA could screw everything in a blink of an eye.

For what I've mentioned until now I think 80 is a fair score. The game has a lot of potential and its beautiful, even after the downgrade. The small problems become really small compared with the good gameplay, gorgeous world and rich lore Anthem has.

There are issues of course, some bugs are still around and there's a certain number of things that I feel need to be implemented, like the ability to communicate with players besides voice chat, like send them a message or something. There's also the lack of being able to place waypoints on the map. Like I said the game is beautiful, but man, you can really get turned around and lost when you're on your way to a specific place.

Finally, if you don't like looter shooters don't get this game, you probably won't enjoy it despite the other things it has going for it, the nature of this style of game will get to you. Otherwise, I can fully recommend this game, great fun, you feel powerful, synergy with other players is great fun and works well once you know how to do it.

EA's and Biowares Anthem are non of those. You could always discuss "fun" but the pillars of this game are visual effects, customization and monetization. Is it the new standard to launch broken unfinished games? Is it okay to false advertise and overhype shallow products like these?
I feel no passion, no creativity and no love for the gamer with this release.
It is a looter shooter with non interesting loot in a very forgettable planet with repetitive missions and activities, shooting different races that feel no different at all, with terrible AI controlled enemies that are bullet sponge type bosses. Anthem had 7 years of work and Bioware had the opportunity to look at games like borderlands, destiny, division, mass effect, etc to make this game better and at least working.
I think in the end it's a nice looking game where the focus is put exactly on that alone. A very poor product in technical and creative sense.

Granted, the game looks pretty and is fun at first, but the fun quickly drops away to repetition due to an utter lack of content variety and nothing really unique to offer. It's like BioWare completely ignored the mistakes being made by all the other looter shooter incumbents like Destiny and Warframe, though I have a hunch (without backing evidence) much of the lack of content is due to a large portion of the late development period was spent frantically removing the lootboxes you know were originally in the game until the Battlefront 2 controversy.

The overall mediocrity of the game is turned into an absolute "do not buy" thanks to the rabid fans that attack any negative viewpoints about games made by their Beloved BioWare, even if BioWare is just a brand and the people that made the renown games for that brand have all largely left long since. Even here, you'll see those fans calling criticism "hate" in order to dismiss it as invalid. The worst one I saw, however, was the fan saying they didn't really like Anthem but wanted to buy it anyway and donate it to charity just to "support" BioWare, not realizing that it literally the most crippling thing they could do to a business. This level of toxic fandom is the absolute worst part of any BioWare game and leads me to rarely recommend any of them nowadays.

Do you want a version of Anthem that's worth it? Play Warframe. It's free and the community is one of the best you'll find in the gaming space.

Loading screens galore and so many questionable UI choices. Not to mention totally boring combat. Only saving grace is flying around, too bad this isn't a flight simulator. This game reminds me of Hellgate London, both in its hype and execution. Very clear that style was prioritised over substance, and I guess most people can tell.

most of what was demoed before release has been cut out of their "final" full price product: graphics are downgraded, scenes and npcs cut out, items gone, missions gone, etc.
and what is left is shallow and boring and obviously lacks content up to the point that it is just not worth playing for more than a week...
it is unacceptable to argue that they will fix and improve the game later down the road and the argument that this game has potential ( which is true ) is not a valid argument either!! They have shown that they do not even know what the potentials for this game are because of their lack luster mission design that despite the fact that they have such a cool flying mechanic of their battle-suites does not utilize that and instead have you stay stationary on the ground with boring waves of stupid enemies advancing on that location... A lot of reviewers lost all their credibility here, if you just look at their positive and therefore incompetent reviews.. Another sad release for gamers.. Looking back the last few years we had our fair share of this kind of release behaviour.. ( destiny2, seaofthiefes, nomanssky,...) Do not get your hopes up for this title and do not defend this kind of bad business practise!

I mainly downloaded the game to play with a group of friends. Which is an odd sentence to type when you consider this is a BioWare title a studio known best for its single player RPG experiences. Excluding the SW MMO but even that feels like a single player experience these days. Without rehashing to hard on the things we've all already heard Anthem is a by the numbers looter shooter. I found myself calling out plot twists long before they would occur in the game. This wouldn't be so bad if at one point this title didn't attempt to advertise that the actions of the player would impact the world around them and shape relationships. That was a bold faced lie nothing you do in reference to character interaction will have any form of significant impact on the game. Now you will be able to "impact" the lives of some of the smaller side characters but only minimally and you never really feel the reward or consequence of these actions outside of sound bytes given to you by the NPC's involved. I understand this was never intended to be a story rich experience but even going in with low expectations I found myself disappointed. The player is expected to be wholly invested in the events and characters around you whilst the only way the game truly expands on the concepts you're learning about is through codex entries that are about as engaging to read as some of my college textbooks. All these complaints and let downs without even touching on the fact that should you even try to engross yourself in this world all you're really doing is slowing your friends down who might just want to get on to the next mission but are stuck waiting on you to finish just one more conversation. Now you might think "just let your friends move on and go at your own pace" sure except because of the disastrous load times you'll often find the random squad you joined to complete this mission have long since loaded in and have sped off to the starting area without you which will force you to sit through yet another drab loading screen before you're thrust into the middle of a random battle with no sense as to why you're doing what you're doing. There is of course the option to play in private matches by yourself but then that tasks you with taking on the mission completely alone. You aren't given the option to call on any of the characters you've interacted with inside fort Tarsis to aid you even though many of them can use javelins. Missions are ridiculously easy on standard difficulties so it isn't as if you're suffering with some kind of handicap but it's just another BioWare staple that seems to have been removed solely to push the multiplayer experience. All and all I'd have to say the game though stunning to look at is dreadfully empty and devoid of the flare that made so many of my favorite BioWare titles memorable I would only recommend someone try this game if they are desperate for another bland multiplayer shooter and even then just sub to one month of Origin Premier just be sure to cancel the reoccurring billing so EA doesn't get a dime more of your money then 15 dollars which is about what I would say this game is worth. This game feels like just another slotmachine. Where I get to fly a constantly overheating Mech for minutes to get into the first fight. Then have to fight waves of bullet sponges to then fly to another bullet sponge arena. In the meanwhile listening to recordings talking into my ear giving me somewhat of an in-game story.

The mediocre things about this game:
-The most interesting gameplay is trying to not overheat your Mech by flying close to water.
-Setting up combos, that are sadly not really necessary, except for the enemies dying a bit faster.
-It looks good, with an RTX 2080 at least. Framerate still dipping under 60fps at high/medium settings.

The fun things about this game:
-Seeing combos work out by combining the right weapons.
-Customizing your Mechs. At least the look of the Mech (The weapons have no character at all).

However this is not a game that is a "flop" or a game with "no heart" as people have said. I agree that in its current state it does not deserve the 60$ price tag that it has or to be called a finished game, but underneath this there is a game that has a strong core that can easily be improved (and yes it should have to be improved this much when it is a game that has been in the works for 3-6 years). I'm not saying it is a great game and people shouldn't hate it because they are going to fix it in the future. I'm saying that this is a chapter 1 of a story that at this rate wont get to be told if it is crushed. I understand what many people mean about this being a very repetitive game in terms of the shear lack of creativity and diversity in the types of missions and the story being lacking compared to Bioware games of old. This is not a Bioware of old game however, and at least to me has never tried to be. This genre and the games in it, Destiny and the Division both had similar stories which were there but weren't the main focus. Destiny if you really wanted story you would go to the grimoire. The division you got a bit more story out of the main game but you would still go around New York and collect Intel and other pieces of lore to find out more about what had happened in the city. This is present in Anthem, this is story if you want it but not in the way that they did it back with their games like KOTOR.

These games are all about the endgame which is getting the best gear and then getting the best roles on the best gear. Anthem does this, kind of. The end game is there but not balanced, there is no reason to play above grandmaster 1 unless you like dying to everything, and although they have a decent assortment of weapons and gear which can all role with different perks very similar to Diablo or the division, there is not enough staying power once you get these. The endgame is there but it just isn't enough, it is about half of what they really need and from what they have said on the road map we wont get the other half till May.

So if you are looking at the game currently there is about 40-60 hours of content to play and enjoy, if that is enough to get you to May when they should be releasing the other half of the end game which we should have been getting more like a 4-6 weeks after release then buy the game. It truly is a fun experience to play and the feeling of seeing your javelin come together with different masterworks is great, but if you are someone who doesn't want there it be and shortage of content to play, then wait, get it in April or May if you are still interested then.

As of right know though it is a chapter 1 of what can be a large expansive story, its up to you to decide if you want to get in at chapter 1 and wait for the next chapters or get in at chapter 5 however long from know that is.

I find the game a lot of fun to play. The gameplay itself is very satisfying, with the mobility bringing a lot into the mix. I love how your abilities cool down so fast that you're using them very often. That combined with dodges, flying bursts, jumps, melee and shooting results in a bag of stuff you can constantly keep getting better at stringing together.

Just today, I got a "Masterwork" tier venom grenade for my Interceptor that has 200% charge = it can be thrown twice every full cooldown (or once every half a cooldown) which has a perk that gives it 100% increase in acid damage after a melee kill for 10 seconds. I also got a component that boosts any assault ability (the venom bomb in this case) 50% in damage for 5 seconds after each strike ability (tempest strike)...

Both of those items add to how much ammo drops and I also have a component that adds 40% to pistol damage after picking up ammo AND my legendary handgun has a perk that it does 200% damage when hovering...

So I can fly in, throw in poison from the air, drop, tempest strike them (detonates a combo, kills target, activates 150% damage boost to acid, hop in the air, throw in my second acid bomb doing huge damage and if I picked up a very likely ammo drop while on ground, I can then fire at the enemies below with 240% damage boost on my already hard hitting pistol, before dodging away.
If I include my support ability before that which weakens enemy resistances by 33%, I will hit them fast and I will hit them hard.

Made my javelin look like a giant killer bee to go with that. So that aspect of the game is very satisfying and very fun.

HOWEVER the gameplay alone isn't something that can carry the game forward for long.

So while this game easily has the potential to get a score of 8, I have to admit that the incredibly bad bugs in the start (most of which still persist) made the early experience VERY frustrating. The game feels undoubtedly unfinished and rushed out and suffers greatly for it.

While I love the customization of actually being able to change the different parts to different materials and any color you wish (great not being tied to changing shaders or so), the cosmetics have been very bare bones, there only having been 4 armor sets to customize my favorite javelin with during the entire time and I'm now at the endgame.

That 4 includes the one you start with and the legion of dawn armor set that is offered in the more expensive edition of the game (or in Origin Premier, which I am playing the game through, not having purchased the game itself.)
1 of the armor sets have appeared in the (item recycling) "featured store" where you can buy items via in-game currency or bought currency and a SINGLE ONE has been on offer to buy from the game's forge. ONE.

The cosmetic loot does not drop from missions or loot chests either.. atleast not yet. However they are planning on adding it to stronghold chests.. but it's yet another part in their journey of actually finishing the game they released.

The loot... oh boy. It has some good, some bad and some simply unexplainable things... the good; I like the component system, how you can trade in different components that aren't in any way tied to cosmetics and make builds, some of which can create some very nice mixes and matches to build something powerful. Fantastic idea.

The bad: The weapon types all have a few variations which all are the same 3d model. The masterwork and legendary weapons are the same model with fancier colors, but they hardly feel very exciting or unique. A lot of games have more unique looking gun skins than this games highest tier items. There also is no way to customize weapon looks. This results in none of your weapons having that "personality" we gamers often love in our looter shooters. In some other games, I have actually felt an attachment to a gun. Here, there's none of that. You just switch in the one with the best stats.

The unexplainable: There is no stats screen where you can see the stats of your javelin. Gear raises damage, armor, shields etc.... great. But there is no way to see what they total up to. How on earth did that get by development?

Right now it can also be very frustrating finding masterwork or legendary gear that simply are completely underwhelming. I understand if something drops and has a perk that isn't what you're looking for, but for pointless perks to be on "legendary" weapons... it's just demotivating.

Has this game been worth the 15€(16-17 dollars) fee for Origin Premier on PC? YES. Absolutely. Alot of entertainment from such a small amount.

But with the bugs, the clearly unfinished features and very little to actually do (3 strongholds, 6 samey contracts per day) in the endgame etc. this is certainly NOT a game I would recommend to buy fully priced at this time.

I recommend you pick this up later when it has been finished/fixed and is on sale and I'm sure there is fun to be had with it.

It's like the Game Designers and the Game Developers are on two different continents, meeting for maybe 10 minutes a day to flesh out what needs to be added or fixed. And then they get stoned and forget what the problems originally were.

Now don't get me wrong, the original vision was awesome, and they really nailed the feel of flying through the game like Ironman...but that uniqueness only lasts a short time before you realize the mechanics are broken, the quests and missions are just not worth the time it takes to do them, and each patch just seems to make things worse.

For the past 4 days I have logged in daily to give the game another go, and I end up logging out within about 20 minutes...just not fun anymore, and not worth my time.

Please please please don't let the current score fool you into thinking that this game is "half decent". It is not.

It is a shambolic mess and that situation has not improved in any meaningful fashion since launch (it's gotten worse if anything). The game is the proverbial one trick pony with an amazing trick (to be fair). It has one of the best combat mechanics (/feeling of agency

The game is the proverbial one trick pony with an amazing trick (to be fair). It has one of the best combat mechanics (/feeling of agency in combat) I've experienced in any game and the shame of it is that this can and could keep you coming back for more (it's so satisfying) for a long time until you come to the realisation that this is literally it's only trick (good as it is).

The setting, characters and the entire storyline is just not interesting. The game works hard with all the standard tropes to hook you emotionally but somehow (despite some decent mocap and voice acting) just falls flat and the characters don't feel more than digital puppets, the story is uninspiring (and cliched) and the world feels "samey" and uninteresting after the initial few hours.

Graphically it's pretty but honestly, in the modern era, it's not particularly special. It's basically on par with the fidelity we expect from AAA titles nowadays.

Once you get to the end-game it falls to pieces completely. The "grind" is unrewarding and positively frustrating. You will lose interest very quickly.

Keep in mind that the current review score is anchored on many good reviews in the first week by hopeful players who enjoyed the core mechanic (as did we all) but didn't realise how flat and shallow this shell of a game really is (once you finish the 10 hours of campaign). We all were optimistic that BioWare would come good and deliver the game we had seen in the pre-launch promotions and demos. It is as far from those today as it was at launch and from what we've seen from BioWare in the first crucial months of a difficult launch, it's never going to get there.

So don't be fooled by the initial optimism. If those reviewers came back now three months after lauch and re-scored, this would be in the low 30%s (if that)

Save your hard earned money for something more worthy of it... unless you just like to ride that one trip pony for hours and hours and hours and hours (I got to 138 before I finally fell off with exhaustion :>)

Anthems beautiful visuals and novel flight mechanics are not enough for us to recommend it at this time. It consistently fails in every metric to bring the player any sense of accomplishment or gratification. Anthems potential to recover from its rough launch is hampered from Bioware's inability to listen to its community or to make good on promises made. Spending seven years in development and having almost no depth or content is a dramatic contrast to its previous releases. This is the same developer that brought us the classic series Mass Effect and Dragon Age. We have to wonder if its time for Bioware to take a step back and reevaluate its corporate philosophies and business practices. Anthem is like a wise old man with loose bowels. It might appear that he is deep in thought but in reality, he is merely crapping his pants.

We give Anthem a 5.3/10 which places it in the category of “Atrocious”.

I was worried from the "Beta" and regretted my pre-order. "They will address all issues in the future" is something i hear from many people that like the game. As someone who played Destiny from the start till now, Anthem is comparatively a terrible game. No loot to actually care for. Cosmetic items are almost non existent. No PVP which MANY people solely play games like this for. When itI was worried from the "Beta" and regretted my pre-order. I really did not care for anyone. Not mentioning the terrible optimization on all platforms and bullet sponges/one kit kill enemies, this game is a poor example of a game. I regret having this game in my library, I would return it if I could. I'm not going to touch it for another year and see if these issues are actually resolved. Expand

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
