Anthem is an all-around exhilarating experience. I believe that the heavy hate for the game is unjust and falsfully wrong because EA put its title on the game. People just want to complain and bash EA. The game for me has run flawlessly so far. No issues at all. I am having fun solo and with friends. It’s not perfect but bugs/issues are being patched quicker than most games (destiny).

Good game! Thanks to BioWare for the quality title. Most of the reviews that I saw were either paid for or written by heaters. Someone criticizes micro transactions, which in principle are not in the game, someone scolds a bad story, while it is obvious that several hours after the start of sales, it is impossible to complete the game and find out its plot. At the same time, lore games from the first minutes seem deep and thoughtful. The graphics and animations are just great. But the overwhelming majority of comments indicate either the minuses in these particular areas of the game, or the fact that EA and BioWare are just going down. "Fantastic constructive comments." Obviously, the game is hating "just like that." There are no weighty reasons for this. Sometimes, you can even see negative reviews, about the cause of minor bugs, from the series “found an invisible wall”, “not enough content” ... God, as if these people had completely studied all the content that is at the start. Or bugs haunt from every step. In general, if someone saw my comment and realized that I wrote ( Expand

I can agree the game has some, loading issues. But the gunplay, environments textures and story are on a grand scale. It’s easy to hate EA or any multi billion dollar studio or company, we need to stop focusing on being part of the detractors and star judging games not by a company’s past misgivings but by the merits of the work they put in. If this was a game published by any other studioI can agree the game has some, loading issues. But the gunplay, environments textures and story are on a grand scale. It’s easy to hate EA or any multi billion dollar studio or company, we need to stop focusing on being part of the detractors and star judging games not by a company’s past misgivings but by the merits of the work they put in. If this was a game published by any other studio it would have half as many negative reviews.

The story is epic but it starts as any hero’s journey. But we have to be reminded there are only 7 types of story to be told. 7 Types of Stories: Which One Is Your Brand Telling?
Overcoming the Monster. This type of story goes back through Beowulf to David and Goliath and surely a lot further than that. ...
Rebirth. A story of renewal. ...
Quest. A mission from point A to point B. ...
Journey and Return. A story about transformation through travel and homecoming. ...
    Rags to Riches. ...
    Tragedy. ...
    Comedy.

This being said it’s extremely hard to fit a narrative to an epic world set in a sci-fi world with out falling victim to certain tropes. If you can find legitimate flaws in this game please I implore you to address them. I am not a fan boy or in anyway affiliated with any part of the gaming industry. I am a gamer with a mind of my own.

Anthem deserves more than its current score. Sure, it could have more content but games like Warframe and Destiny 2 have had years of development. So for an initial release this looks great, the mechanics are fantastic too. Such an enjoyable game with friends!

I hope people look beyond its 'EA' label and not just jump on the hate bandwagon.

I like playing Solo but the teams I matched up with were tons of fun also shows how important teamwork is in this game. Fighting tougher enemies I was Thank-full for Drop-Ins to help out even on my Solo runs. It's a very Cooperative game design. No communication on these random Team missions means you have to pay attention to get some solid combo's but that is my only gripe with those. The quests are fun, the lore is interesting and the graphics are incredible. Loot isn't a concern for me but yes, it isn't stellar. Combat is really interesting with the flight/hover ability giving you an edge on taking the environment into account. The game has tons of potential for growth and I am waiting to see where Bioware will take this game. Expand

And if one long wait is not enough then fear not because EA has you covered with multiple loading screens each one getting longer than the last! You'll be in loading simulator heaven.

It's a real shame because while the game does look beautiful its just too buggy and what made EA release this in its current state only a week before quietly pushing out far superior Apex Legends is anybodys guess but to be a manager in EA you don't have to be intelligent, just greedy!

This is certainly not a Bioware game we know and it shows because the story is awful but then the world is littered with lore. The problem is you will spend more time reading that lore than playing the game and the cutscenes tell you very little. This is the same dev that made Andromeda right? And that was BioWare Montreal which is a very small division. Well that shows.

So on top of a terrible launch they have the audacity to charge full price for this heap of junk. No one can deny it looks great but haven't we learned yet that graphics just do not make a game if it doesn't have a strong element of gameplay and that urge to want to return and EA completely missed the target yet again.

Maybe it will get better, maybe it won't but one things for sure. It's just not ready yet.

The reason this did not get a 1 from me is because you can see they really made an effort on the graphics side so they get points for that.

ça n'a aucun interret.

While out exploring the world, I’ve found three separate instances where it’s obvious they have planned DLC ready to open up should Anthem do well. I acknowledge there have been a few kinks in the system due to releasing the game a month or two before it was actually ready for lunch, but this is an industry wide problem. It seems like Anthem is the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people, causing the unwarranted extreme negative opinions. Give it a shot, download the demo. I see people saying that their game crashes and will disconnect them from servers, but in 20 hours, none of that has happened. Levels can be repetitive when you've done a lot of "stand here for 5 minutes" missions. My biggest problem is the strongholds. There aren't enough to keep going. I haven't reached that state yet, but only 3 of them will not be enough for bio ware to have enough time to make more of them.

For Anthem though, the graphics look great. The iron man suits look cool, and I really appreciate the level of customization available, both play-wise and visually. The level of detail in the world is great, and the visual aesthetic for the hub city is a cool blend of Middle Eastern cyber-punk.

In my opinion, the levels of virtue signalling are at a minimum. The fact that that is something to celebrate is sad. However, the cast is incredibly diverse without trying to beat you over the head with it.

Game play wise, Anthem is grindy. It feels less so than Destiny. Really, it's more like a 3rd person shooter version of Destiny 2 without Bungie's magical shooting touch.

The story is okay. It isn't going to be winning any awards, but it is serviceable. Out of the cast there are perhaps two characters that are fun, Owen and Haluk. There's also a vendor with a weird fascination with making Javelins (the Iron Man suits) look fabulous.

Overall, I don't mind Anthem. I don't regret buying it. The micro-transactions are for cosmetic items (that to be honest do not look worth paying for) which can also be unlocked with in-game currency. I'm sure since it's EA that they will manage to screw that up in the future.

Note: I did not pay for my copy of the game. A friend whose been hyped for this bought it for me as a gift and I'm honestly considering giving him his money back so it doesn't go to waste.

The combat feedback loop is repetitive, unimaginative, and grindtastic. Weapons don't do enough damage to beefier enemies and drag out combat. Abilties are supposed to combo but there's no guide or info on how to make them do so which requires players figuring it out. If a player has to figure out how to use a mechanic of the game then the developer has failed.

Content is severely limited. There only so much you can do in Anthem and it all boils to the same thing over and over (and not in a gratifying way). To think that future content that realistically should've been included at launch will be added as "paid DLC".

Story: Lies. End of story. Go to the trailers in Metacritic and watch the "Our World, My story" trailer. It's all lies and wasn't executed at all. Notable Bioware story telling is nowhere in this game. All dialogue options boil down to answers 1 and 2 and have absolutely no impact on your story. Things that you do while playing the game have no impact on your story like the trailer says it will. This is by far the biggest travesty of Anthem and I suspect a false advertising lawsuit will be coming shortly against Bioware and EA.

Characters: First Bioware games have always been about player choice and there isn't any in Anthem besides choose a face for your player character you will never see and is entirely inconsequential. The characters you meet are unimaginative and honestly unlikable. If your going to be forced to talk to individuals to get quests and advance the story you've got to want to hear what they have to say. However there's not really any NPC that I actively want to engage with. Whats worse is the in-game/real money micro-transaction store NPCs are in game solely to try and sell players on buying cosmetics. In final, unlike other Bioware games you can't do anything with these characters besides talk to them and that's severely disappointing.

Microtransactions: This is at least where Bioware and EA didn't lie. Everything is purely cosmetic and can be purchased for real money or in game currency. While the in game currency cost is high (tens of thousands) In two days of playing I've earned 10,000 in game currency so it's not so bad. What it lacks is variety and anything of interest. It's also in poor taste that things that were unlocked by default in the VIP and Open trial weekends are now locked behind a paywall.

Bugs: So the VIP and open "demo" weekends were filled with a variety of largely game breaking bugs that have made it into regular release. Why Bioware didn't host a open or closed beta is beyond me. Many of these things could've been caught long in advance. I can only surmise this was because Bioware knew the state of the game and knew they (EA) wouldn't recover from it's premature exposure showing all it's glaring flaws and lies. So they forced a premature release bugs and incomplete resulting in poor reviews.

Ambiance: Fort Tarsis was shown during trailers to be this bustling city with lots going on. In reality it's a boring uneventful waste of time. People realized this quickly in the demo weekends being forced to walk through it at a crawl. To fix this Bioware added running but it didn't address the core problem of being a completely drab experience so they created a "launch bay" public area where everyones in their suits. Which is itself an admittance that the Fort Tarsis experience Bioware touted is simply unrepairable.

User Interface: No way to see public events in free roam so now way to gather players together. No way to communicate with other players by text. Overly complicated UI in all aspects. Destiny-like story in lore cards not active gameplay.

Animations: The biggest flaw I've seen animation wise has to be facial animations on characters. The best word that I can use to describe it is cringeworthy. They're just bad.

Honestly, can Anthem be fixed? Possibly on some of the issues (combat, content) but not story. Luckily as a multiplayer "looter-shooter" story isn't as consequential. Will they fix it in time before the player base drops it for the sad shell of a joke it is? Unlikely.

    Pros:
Unique "ironman" style game play that hasn't been done very well before.

    Cons:
Complete lack of engaging story and likable characters Bioware is known for.
    False Advertising in trailers.
    Unsatisfying combat
    Unsatisfying content
    Lack of usable User Interface
Unimaginative and Unlikable characters (both friend and foe)
Wasted and not fleshed out story
Gear isn't significant or unique and type limited.

is this worth $60? Absolutely not.

Sorry for the wall of text, didn't realize Metacritic can't format paragraphs.

The monetization model isn't so bad either. It's designed more like a shortcut than anything, it's not invasive and it's not unfair.

Overall a solid game with some of the best gameplay i've ever tried. I highly recommend it for anyone who love the sci-fi genre and/or action games in general.

Very fun game. Flying is pretty amazing and very responsive. Story is engaging, and the customization has a lot of depth too it. Are the glitches sure, but if you have played Destiny 1, this game is way ahead of that. The loading screens that people are complaining about are no longer than loading into different parts for Destiny. A solid variety of enemies. The game looks beautiful!

On an additional positive note, I purchased an emote from the in game cosmetic store with in game earned currency. However, it didn't show up in my forge when I tried to equip it. I reached out to support and they looked into it. It appears I'm the victim of a bug. However, they reimbursed the coins I spent on the emote, so I'm a happy camper.

In both cases, people spoke about weaker than usual writing and explained the game feels like a techdemo even with a decent basic game mechanism. The second such game I remember is Anthem, and the first one was Neverwinter Nights. And that nice old jewel we have found a legendary game. The similarities don't end with the focus on cooperative gameplay and initial reception. Both games were backed by a promise of long term refinement and support. And we can also say we can find a similar level of writing and story in both games.

I am sure many NWN fans already started laughing as they expect the comment. You have dull stories in Neverwinter Nights because anyone, even a total newbie can create stories in that game. Too bad in Anthem we get the same excellence in the only story the game has... straight from BioWare.

I both cases you can say: Heeey, nice graphics for its time, but a bit too repetitive. Yeah... NWN, a legendary game had this issue too. But if I want to make this comparison fair, I had to admit NWN was tile-based for a reason. Boring copy+paste in an open world game only lead to gamers feeling lost. And even in that ages old game, we can see our charactet often (not just heavy armor), have plenty of customization options (in toolset) but there we can also see the portrait of our characters.

And at that time you had an option to stop playing in the middle of the mission and continue later without losing a lot of progress.

Anthem is special because you can't save for the whole mission. And if you run out of time you might have to start the mission again next time. You have an hour in the afternoon, and an hour in the evening? That is pretty average. 3 times walking through the whole fort because you can't start at your javelin, 3 matchmaking phases, 3 times attempting to load the map on long loading screens, 2 disconnects and loading the fort and news at each and every disconnect?

You lost a few minutes. It shouldn't be a problem. Unless noone joins your "public expedition", so you have lag, disconnects while you have to solo the content designed for 4 people. So you run out of time, and at next attempt you might run out of time again. Frustration is present, progress isn't. It is hard to remember any other game that was half as bad as Anthem here.

If you expect to fly alone an offline singleplayer mode, with savegames inside missions (but out of combat situations) would solve this issue.

Hey even not showing news repeatedly, not starting in the basement after disconnect, no delays before starting the mission again would help. So there are easy to fix issues that cause a lot of problems for players. And players lose time from the time window before events that change the world and spoil many important parts of the story. So if you want to enjoy the story in a logical order without many bad spoilers and nonsense you are in tough luck.

Others might say there is nothing original in Anthem, but this kind of issue is pretty new. After all, if you remember how I have compared a few things to a Bioware classic, I have to say, even newbie module builders wouldn't create this big mess, not even with Script Wizard.

You know what are my 2 favorite things about Anthem? You can't start freeplay as a private game, you are forced to play with 3 people who might be on the other side of the map. So when you are stuck at an event that is designed for 4 people you can't invite friends because the game is already full. Best enjoyed with friends, right?

Bioware decided that if we rarely see small parts of the face of our character, but otherwise only the javelin is possible that will help immersion because of 1st person perspective. I am sure we all had immersion in previous Bioware titles. But when you can't feel attached to the character due to a broken story, technical issues and actually not seeing him/her that is a showstopper here.

Too bad this decision means that in a game where between the event loot and cosmetic updates are the goal, we can't have cosmetic updates for the character, only for the armor, which will make things far less interesting. But due to low possibile variety of loot they had to keep amount of loot pretty low, so most outlaws or dominion soldiers, or... come without any gear you can salvage from them.

Scavengers who salvage everything might not have useful salvage in their caches. Why? Because both crafting system, loot system and customization system is dumbed down and stupid. It means the game is rotten through the core.

The only good things are: EA willing to take a risk, financing coop gameplay, etc. No DLCs. So with their games as a service business model, we can expect more experimenting. So Origin Access: Premier and its effects are a plus. And that is about the end of it.

Now the good stuff. First off the ideas that come to life and the size and beauty of the open world is exciting. No other game has ever been like it. The world feels like way Avatar would be. The javelins are painstakingly detailed and every movement in flying, sprinting, walking, and fighting looks amazing. The creatures feel and move realistic.
Fights and battles feel punchy and great. It is fluid and it keeps you on your toes, dodging, floating and flying to new cover or screaming down from the sky like a crusading angel raining firey death on an army of bugs. You are in a battle suit and when you use supers, the enemies feel it. Animations are perfect, you can really feel your armor. It is well balanced though. Get too carless and the giant alien ape will smash you into pudding like a 3000ton gorillia should.
The characters are individuals and well rounded, they dont feel generic. The battle banter feels good too, it makes you smile when your charcter makes the bad guys irritated. The conversations in Fort Tarsis are amusing and adds some flavor to the world that Bioware has built. It is a fronteir fort and it feels like one. While Fort Tarsis can feel a bit slow collecting missions there it is ridiculous to throw the game away for it.
There are a few glitches and frame rate drops here and there but time will take care of that. It is already a very, very finished game. A little bit of tweaking and Bioware will have it down pat. Since it is an online only game maybe the issue is with internet connection. After all a phone line probably just wont cut it. From my experience, if you have reliable internet it plays great. From the sheer quality of the game i could see how bad internet would ruin your day.
This is really an amazing game. IMHO it is way better than Mass Effect which everyone loved. Anthem really does blow Destiny out of the water, sorry. Anthem is super open world, you are not contantly stuck in a tiny room or on some little path. Anthem has jet pack armor that actually feels like jet pack armor. It feels really real, not cartoony. Mechanics work great and there are no pvp criers nerfing your favorite guns and armor when you need to hit that really hard boss level.
Do yourself a favor, dont listen to anyone. Be your own person, have your own opinion, and decide for youself that you like the game. Buy it and have a blast.

Overall the game makes a lot of missteps but is on the whole one of the better playing experiences I've had in some time.

I think it's main point of failure is EA forcing the use of it's frostbyte engine that is not made for this kind of thing. With a better engine and writing the game could be one of the best of the year, but instead it falls a bit flat.
Sound, world building, and gameplay however are top tier, and very enjoyable. The world to a decent degree makes sense, and with the recent event the open areas of nothing made more sense as they are more stages for boss fights than for general use, yet it needed another year in the oven to get the bugs worked out. If EA doesn't pull an EA and actually supports anthem it could become something good, but that is a big IF with EA's track record.

Story and the engine are where this game fails, and that is due to the fact that the game feels like it should have been more to it instead of the paint by numbers meh we got. I would love to know if EA called for a rewrite at some point to make the game something else, instead of what it was supposed to be.

The main reason I say this is the E3 trailers world was different, and the play style in regard to the world seemed different than what was delivered. Suggesting there was a rather large change at a some point. A change that impacted a lot of things, this feels like destiny all over again, where we see one idea of the game, then there is a massive change and no one lets us know about it.

Having beaten the main story, played through it all I can say some design choices were well intentioned but stupid. The tombs were designed to push people into other things then freeplay to get them to help other players through quickplay, the same as the path of valor is setup to do. The issue I see with this is that it leads to burnout rather quickly as you end up doing stuff you have done over and over again. Which brings us back to time, the game is solid, but it needed more time in development to release with more content.

This is the curse of we can patch it, developers and publishers need to stop having this mindset. Release a full title, then patch it, stop releasing half a game or less and saying we will patch it later. Anthem as it is now feels like act 1 of a 3 act game. It needs the other two acts, as it is the devs come off as liars as my fort and my friends are near identical, I have seen and felt no impact at all of my choices in the fort. Thus the game feels half baked in the story aspect of its world.

On to the gameplay: The gameplay is rather acceptable and it als makes a lot of fun to fight and fly around but the fight are reppetetive and the enemies have not much variation to them at all.

Story: Probably the worst aspect of the game, Bioware is known for their good nerrative but with each title Bioware just gets worse. I didnt saw anything from the promised Multiple choices or the story that is supposed toi center around us. "Our world, your story" : MY ASS. The Story is even worse than Andromeda. The choices you make dont alter the Story and you cant even see your own character, so why bother choosing apperance?

The World is the only plus i can give, but thena gain: Wide as a ocean, deep as a puddle.
    Bioware failed to innovate.

The entire game feels like someone came up with all the mechanics in 5 minutes. Seriously, every aspect (maybe aside from the graphics) is 10 steps backwards from what we already used to have in other looter games.

For starters, Anthem has a p # $ the gameplay! That's what won most of its players. Fly like Iron Man, shootings, flying missiles, beautiful, noisy blasts that shake the screen of your television!
But Anthem brings a story not much explored and does not captivate much, this for now since the game is being released in acts, 3 for now. But remembering that even being developed by Bioware, it is not a game focused on history as the Dragon Ages or Mass Effects.
Another serious problem of Anthem are the loot, the weapons are practically identical, which is a serious fault for being a grind game, focused on farm. This makes the experience a bit annoying given that it is essential for a grind game, the player to repeat the missions several times in order to get better equipment.
Compared with the trailer for E3, the game is different, but still the graphics are very beautiful with excellent light effects.
I had no problems with servers but there are several reports of players complaining about instability.
In my opinion, Anthem is a game that will be perfected over time, as well as the division and destiny. I think it was a little bit wronged at the beginning, mainly because of its connection with EA, but it still has time to redeem itself and be able to show all its undeniable potential

No content, no polish, no effort. Actually killed Bioware for me (EA is already a seed of corruption and everyone is aware these days)

Having alot of fun with this game, been waiting for it for a long time! I see it has some flaws, but I believe the more content the better the game will become. A few bugs are annoying, and some of them even game breaking, but I'm gonna trust in BW to deliver a great end package soon!

The facial animations are excellent and the gameplay is AWESOME! The customization of the javelins are excellent and I had a lot of fun with this game. The story leaves some to be desired and the missions are repetitive, but since they already have future updates planned (already late march) I don't worry about this. There are some bugs, but nothing out of the ordinary with a game like this within the first week of launch. We can all claim it shouldn't have any issues, but we need to be realistic about this.

This game is honestly worth a try and if BioWare is given useful feedback Anthem has the potential of being a great game!

The mission structure is unbearably repetitive and if you're lucky the mission will bug and you'll get to do it all over again. (Which has happened to me at least 6 times in my 24 hours playing it) The game will seem fun for the first couple of hours but trust me this a game that is NOT worth your time. And no i'm not going to be one of those people that say "well maybe it will be good when they patch it and update it" yeah maybe it will be but people seriously need to stop letting developers/publishers get away with this. 10 years ago this was NOT a thing because if the game wasn't finished it just didn't sell.

Its been quite a while since i've played a game like this that i wanted to like (because the game looks really good running on ultra settings on my pc) but i can't, the gun play doesn't feel great, the abilities of the javelin of your choosing are more fun to use but get old quickly. Oh and i almost forgot to mention the incredibly bad load times and there are loading screens galore in this game. Even after the patch that made it better it still takes too long (on my solid state drive). I still haven't finished the story yet but i hear that the end game content is virtually non-existent.

I fully expect Bioware to be closed soon by EA after this disaster.

This is the latest game to catch bandwagon hate. It's rough around the edges, but there's a lot there to like. Combat is well balanced and fun, the world is gorgeous and it's great flying around in it, and the motion capture facial animations give some life to characters that, admittedly, would be a bit flat otherwise. Combat:
For the genre it's part of, the combat is quite refreshing.
Glad that there's a reason to use the skills you got equipped, what many games in this genre lack.
My only gripe with it is the lack of "special" skills/weapons that could only obtained by completing something specific (Borderlands did this nicely).
If it had such it would be complete.

    Javelins:
Each having a role to play, though the melee one seems to be there just for those that like the playstyle of it.
Ranger single target, colossus AOE/heavies, storm AOE/shieldies. They cover it all.
Having enjoyed Ranger, Colossus is a lot more fun than it initially looked like. Mate's loving Storm, so I let him have that role.

    Exp:
Happy that the exp gain is dependent on how well you and your party did, and doesn't punish you if you're a try hard (nuke builds in Warframe for example).
It promotes going for combos, getting multi-kills etc, instead of just turning your brain off while grinding.
Wish there was a use of exp once you hit max lvl. Have yet to reach it, but nobody talks about it, so I assume there's no exp gain afterwards anymore.

    Loot:
The only reason to grind is to perfect your build, instead of getting everything and never be used.
There being a reason to grind for such isn't there besides personal choice, but I can't recall any that really have. Everything can be done with sub-optimal gear.
I do wish Anthem was the game that went that way, but then again I'm part of the small percentage that enjoys such (easily seen throughout other games).

    Quest-line/Story:
Some nice NPC options - some conversations can go either direction
Some annoying NPCs - conversations that lead nowhere, or shouldn't be had
Traversing the town - slow, even with the sprint, this is my main gripe with the game. Just let me teleport around.
Heard the ending to be bad, worse than ME3's ending, and I don't get it. It wasn't perfect, but it was fine, it made sense.

    Amount of content:
Somewhat lacking for the genre it's part of. If they keep their promise and introduce more this will surely be another game I'll be coming back to once a while.

    Overall:
A really nice game to be build upon, has really good potential to be one of the best in its genre, but that depends on the amount of content they'll bring in over time.

However, it's been a ton of fun to play. The actual gameplay mechanics are very well done and the world is bloody beautiful. Combat is pretty fun if a little simplistic. I think there's a solid foundation for a really fun game, provided EA keeps their promise of an evolving world & future content, Bioware works to improve the experience a bit, and we're a little patient.

In general I think we're so spoiled by mature games that have had years to iron things out that we forget that the launches are normally rocky and it takes time to get everything in shape. If the idea of a squad based shooter appeals to you, I'd say give it a try. If you come in with an open mind, you'll find it to be a fun experience.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the game since launch. It has some technical issues, but is turning out to be a pretty solid platform to continue building onto. I look forward to the future.

Ok, so is this game perfect, ground breaking or a must have? Absolutely not.
Is this game abysmally bad, unplayable or an instant refund? Not a chance.
To be fair right now this game is a 7/10 with a lot of potential, its direct competitors started similarly lacking a lot of content and had their fair share of bugs too (Division, Destiny, Warframe), the exception to this is Borderlands

To be fair right now this game is a 7/10 with a lot of potential, its direct competitors started similarly lacking a lot of content and had their fair share of bugs too (Division, Destiny, Warframe), the exception to this is Borderlands 2 which I still regard as the gold standard of content inside the disk. This isn't an excuse for Bioware though, they shouldn't aim for mediocrity just because their peers under delivered too, but at least it's something to have in mind, but since it's published by EA nobody wants to cut them some slack.

However, Bioware will be updating weekly with a ton of new monthly content and Quality of Life fixes, and they will be providing FREE story and world expansions. This for me is their saving grace, but people see EA and instantly start flaming, I can 100% relate to that but I decided to give this game a chance and I've enjoyed myself for quite a while now, around 10-12h in 4 sittings.

The gameplay is super fun, as repetitive as you can expect in any other looter game TBH, it's like criticizing Diablo for just mindlessly clicking on enemies you know, and yes the first 24h after launch I encountered about 4-5 bug/glitches and I noticed that this game doesn't like to run with an overclocked GPU, after I returned the GPU to default settings I haven't encountered a single bug.

TL;DR it's hella fun, albeit not for everyone and not content rich as any of the previous Bioware RPGs, but it can only get better and better month to month. Personally I don't regret my day 1 purchase since I know that if I get bored I can stop playing and come back when more content is released, but right now I'm really hyped each time I jump in one of my 3 Javelins, each one is a joy to pilot.

Anita Sarkeesian's brand of sex negative third wave feminism has hit this game extremely hard.

The Witcher series had beautiful, sexy & charismatic women (Triss, Yennefer, Ciri) in addition to normal, plain & average looking women. [character art] - Anthem has the ugliest women NPC's I've ever seen in a game. There isn't even one sexy woman in the entire game. The character art

The character art direction is so bad that it completely destroyed any fantastical escapism. The NPC's look like people I'd see at Walmart and Walmart is the last thing I want to be thinking of when playing an escapist video game.

[story] - The story is very mediocre and is brought down by the casual idle conversations you have with the random NPC's. Those casual convos don't have any impact on the story, it's just "hey, how you doing buddy? You good? I'm good, cool, cya." After a while you begin to dread talking to the NPC's because the conversation goes no where most of the time. In other Bioware games every conversation tend to contribute to something meaningful, but in Anthem it doesn't.

Your character is extremely emotional, cranky and complains all the time. He acts like an emotional soy boy constantly and it's VERY annoying. You can't play as a bad ass and instead you're constantly kissing everyone's butt, I hate it. I hate Tarsis and want to see it burn to the ground. I WISH I COULD SIDE WITH THE DOMINION. I bet all the hot women have sided with the Dominion and Tarsis is just filled with rejects & social outcasts.

[gameplay] The combat is fun. The best part of the game is being outside of Tarsis. I hate Tarsis so much. The characters look so god damn ugly I just dread going there. Okay, combat. Combat is fun, but it has the potential to get repetitive very quickly. After about two weeks I'll be bored of this game. So if $60.00 is worth two weeks of play time, go for it, but I'd wait until the game is $5.00 like Battlefront II.

[microtransactions] - I never buy stuff through micro transactions.

[graphics] - The frostbite engine is nothing short of amazing. The graphics are outstanding.

[environmental art & armor art] - The art direction for the environment's are beautiful & captivating. The javelins & weapons have beautiful art.

[tarsis bar] - The city of Tarsis has a bar. The bar is filled with the ugliest women i've ever seen and there's no good bar music. In every Bioware game the night club and bars always had good music, but this is the worst bar I've ever seen in the history of Bioware games.

[brothel] - THE GAME HAS NO BROTHEL, WTF?! There should be a brothel with tons of hot & sexy tarsis babes showing off the frostbite engines physics. Physics you ask? YES, BREAST & BUTT PHYSICS.

This game truly deserves a 7, but as some haters just gave less than it deserves because they're not familiar with this kind of game, I give a 10.

And for those who can't play because they don't use the Xbox Live gold or the PS+, well, it doesn't mean you have to bash a game that you didn't played to, at all.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
