May 8, 2026Outbound is a relaxing journey that will please anyone who wants to get away without going anywhere. Extensive exploration and a satisfying gameplay loop make for a joyful experience, and it’s easy to lose hours to driving around in your camper, collecting logs and unlocking new biomes. A few visual and control gripes might form bumps in the road, but otherwise this is a fun ride.

The combination of a road trip and a building simulation is nicely executed, but the empty game world, the uneven distribution of resources, and the lack of shortcuts give the impression that the game still needs a bit more work.

May 20, 2026Everything that makes the genre appealing is here: the aesthetics, the concept, and the commitment to making it work as a multiplayer experience. However, it may fall short in the most basic area: keeping us engaged with the endless loop we are expected to play for hours. While other titles follow a similar structure, here that loop can become boring. Still, with a few tweaks, it could offer a better experience if given a second chance.
