    Never had a videogame overwhelmed and exceeded the promises of even its most die-hard fans and critics. Because of this the title received one of the highest reviewed welcomes in the history of the videogame industry and has even until today managed to hold onto the "Greatest Game' title and good faith over 25 years later.

    Today Ocarina of Time seems both dated and simple in scale... and that is a good thing. The title essentially laid the entire blueprint for the game industry going forward and is the very DNA that every 3D game and open-world title today can trace itself back too. The fact that we have such beautiful games today and have managed to nearly perfect 3D gameplay and systems, means that Ocarina of Time succeeded in inspiring far more than simply perfect scores and glowing reviews in 1998.

    This title stands as an example of what trying something new and taking risks can achieve... and how to do so while not neglecting your audience, or what has always worked. For that this game continues to be beloved and continue to receive scores not based on how it compares to the best games of THIS decade; but to everything before it, and to anything that has ever tried to influence the medium as much as it ultimately did.

    Even now its old bones still continue to hold the attention of young newcomers curious as to what its hollowed code holds for them. Even as primitive as it may be now: it still has solid gameplay, some of the best dungeons in the franchise, haunting music, and an adventure truly worthy of the Hero of Time.    … Expand

    I'm mixed on this since some people say they hate it or loved it with the more being love it. I've never played it because Nintendo doesn't re-release it, people today hate it because they say it hasn't aged well.

    Es una experiencia sin igual que debes jugar antes de morir. Si nunca jugaste un Zelda te recomiendo fervientemente Ocarina of Time.

    This is my favorite Zelda game. I play through once or twice a year. I can't recommend a better game for a kid to get them interested in video games as a whole than Ocarina of Time.

    Ocarina has a lot of great gameplay mechanics, and a lot of poor ones — It's best attribute is it's fast movement, fluid controls, and unique ideas like the longshot, hookshot. But sometimes the jumping can be a messy situation. It manges to have a lot, a lot of replayability just so you can find all the heart pieces, golden skulls, and finish those side quests. But my biggest gripe with the game that holds me back from replaying is... The Water Temple. I know that's controversial, but it's entirely true. I have a hard time with some puzzle games, but this one stomped me at first. You have to continuously swap out between the metal boots and your kokiri boots which becomes tedious after awhile.

    I do understand why everyone loves this game, but sometimes the praise seems over deserved. I personally am astonished at all of the work, effort, and time that has went into Ocarina and especially the people that make ROM hacks, mods, and all that to show their dedication to this game and it's fandom.

    I hope the spark never dies out for Ocarina and it continues to live on as one of the greatest if not best game of all time.    … Expand

    I see that some didn't like the game very much and that's why they think it's overrated, but I'm proof that it gets the grade it deserves, since it wasn't part of my childhood or anything like that.     Currently replaying this game and man I remember why I love this game so much! Amazing combat especially from an N64 game. Exploring Hyrule and doing the side quests is so fun. One of the best stories I've played in a game and also using the Ocarina of Time is my safe space. Sorry Saria its just more aesthetically pleasing

    Greatest game of all time. I was six when we got this game in 1998 and it is part of my childhood and my life. The OST is something else. It means a lot that there is an enormous amount of people claiming this is the best game ever, it really is and it is pointless to point this out as everyone who played this at that time knows it.

    Simplesmente amo esse jogo, não tenho o que falar de ruim.
    Sua história é incrível, a jogabilidade continua gostosa mesmo depois de quase 25 anos do lançamento original, as músicas são fenomenais - e tudo isso junto, feito com amor pela Big N fez o jogo ser sensacional do início ao fim.

    Amazing game but it has aged over the years amazing story and gameplay holds ups graphics wise not so much I’m 2022 it’s a really fun play and to go back to a game such as Corina of time is a blast I think a full on remake in the openness of breath of the wild would be the best game off all time

    I love this game, but as a completionist I find collecting all 100 skultulas a little annoying (not even going to mention the koroks on breath of the wild) but still enjoyable. The characters of Oot are fun but they don't quite live up to the characters in Majoras mask, still this is a great game and I highly recommend it.

    A masterpiece in every way. What a great kick-start in life for imagination, adventure inspiration, fun and logic learning. All aspects were mastered from music I still listen to, to character design and game-play.
    Still waiting for a contender.

    I've been traveling the world for 9 years and its still Link's adventure that I feel like I've inherited from.

    Let me preface this review by saying that I do have massive respect for this game and the innovations it made for gaming as a whole. It is irrevocably a good game and I'm not here to deny that. All this being said though, does it truly deserve the title of Best Game of ALL Time? I seriously doubt that. I get the idea of not judging games from the past to modern standards and I'm not gonnaLet me preface this review by saying that I do have massive respect for this game and the innovations it made for gaming as a whole. It is irrevocably a good game and I'm not here to deny that. All this being said though, does it truly deserve the title of Best Game of ALL Time? I seriously doubt that. I get the idea of not judging games from the past to modern standards and I'm not gonna try and do that here, but to say this was where gaming peaked, that no game that has ever come after this has ever come close to Ocarina of Time's heights would be a severe disservice to 24 years worth of absolutely incredible games. I could go on about this point alone except for the fact that it wouldn't be much of a review if I didn't discuss the merits of the game itself, so let's get into those.

    Graphics- I wasn't alive in '98 when this game came out so I have no idea how "Great for the time" the graphics in the game are. Playing it today though, they hold up pretty well and you can generally tell what everything in its blocky glory is supposed to be. to have any complaints here would simply be foolish and ignorant.
    Music- I think Ocarina of Time's incredible music is by far its strongest trait. The music is always fitting of the kind of environment it's trying to portray at any given moment. Moreover, every track is excellent and about 90% of the soundtrack will get stuck in your head and never leave. I have no complaints here at all and am willing to admit that the people who praise this game's soundtrack as one of the best of all time are right.
    Story- To be honest I've never seen the appeal of Ocarina of Time's story. It's a simple hero's journey story of a boy with tremendous courage who's forced to grow up too fast, it's a simple story but works in favor of the world and gameplay. Some would argue that the story is masterfully told and drenched in depth and symbolism and that's a big part of what makes it the best game ever made, honestly though even within its own series Ocarina of Time is beat out in that department by great stories like those seen in Majora's Mask or Link's Awakening. The story in Ocarina of certainly is good, but heavily overrated when compared to much stronger ones.
    Gameplay- This is where most of my gripes with Ocarina of Time come from. Zelda games have always had big and lively versions of the titular Hyrule to explore and such is the case in Ocarina of Time, the only difference here being that this Hyrule feels like the blandest and most empty in the entire series. Outside of it's key locations, Ocarina of Times version of Hyrule just feels empty. For Instance, many have cited the first moments of leaving Kokiri Forest and entering Hyrule Field as the magical first steps of an incredible journey, but in my first playthrough and experience with this moment all I felt was underwhelmed. Before me laid a completely barren field that I was expected to traverse by walking or rolling until I reached the next location where the story would continue, and rinse and repeat this for whenever you need to reach another key location. In terms of the dungeons, they have certainly been far better in the series history, sure there are unforgettable ones like the forest temple of the shadow temple, but the rest are either tedious in their puzzles or just plain forgettable. There are moments where the game feels lively, like when entering a new town and meeting all the charismatic and fun NPC's there but apart from these shining moments the game leaves a lot to be desired.

    Overall, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a landmark game in the history of gaming and deserves respect from all those who enjoy modern open world adventure games of the same vein, but the claims that it's the "Best Video Game Ever Made" are unfounded and deserve a serious and critical second look.    … Expand

The 3D environment just meant that it takes much longer to get anywhere, hidden passages can be too hard to find and the maps can be very confusing making it too easy to get lost. Ocarina Of Time is still a technically great game judged on its own merits but the N64 incarnations just didn'tI was never a fan of turning everything 3D just because you could, and Zelda is a classic example. Es el mejor juego que jugué en mi vida, los gráficos a pesar de que son de hace 25 años no te cansan, la jugabilidad es increíble siempre con nuevas mecánicas y teniendo que cambiar la linea temporal para hacer cosas que afectan a la otra linea del tiempo y por ultimo la musica, es posiblemente la mas adictiva de la historia de los videojuegos, el tema de saria es un temon, sin olvidar el de la tienda, la ciudad, etc, ademas, se puede jugar por donde quieras y no pesa nada ya que perfectamente puedes jugarlo por emulador o mismamente online, todos los personajes tienen una personalidad distintiva que hace que los diálogos no suenen forzados, ademas, todo el juego en si es bastante instintivo. literalmente un juegazo… Expand

    I might be a bit biased when it comes to this review, but in my personal opinion, Zelda Ocarina of Time is perfection. Sure, a lot of things haven't aged the best with the game, but that's what happens to every game over time. Even with the flaws, and the game is still amazing. Growing up with this game for as long as I can remember has cemented everything about this game into my mind.I might be a bit biased when it comes to this review, but in my personal opinion, Zelda Ocarina of Time is perfection. This game might honestly have the greatest music soundtrack of all time thanks to the master composer Koji Kondo. The game mechanics have also changed the gaming landscape forever with mechanics like enemy targeting, world traversal, and sword combat. Last but absolutely not least is the games incredibly deep and impactful story. The story might seem like a story about your typical hero's journey, but there is so much more underneath. Themes about Man v. Nature and Childhood v. Adulthood can be seen with the game's subtext. The entire game is honestly an incredible journey that no one can ever forget.     This game is great and all and I love The Legend Of Zelda series but this one in particular never stuck with me mainly the controls Link just feels so bad to control now i'm not one to complain about a game's control but this is just bad control feeling for me.     Medical professionals, should use the game as barometer to declare someone legally dead or not based off of whether it makes them squeal like a little girl in joy or not.

    its an ok game but I've recently seen nostalgic biases giving the game a 10 out of 10, but good game id say pretty buggy and it was good like 20 years ago, and this is the best rated game on Metacritic. you based biased critic babies. sorry for going a little crazy on ya'll but 6 out of 10.     Sé que esto puede ser controversial, pero creo que Ocarina of Time no es el mejor juego de todos los tiempos. Pero es una obra maestra. Y lo reconozco. Cuando empecé a jugarlo, simplemente abandoné el juego. Pensé que Majora's Mask era una obra maestra y Ocarina of Time era simplemente un buen juego. No me terminaba de enganchar.

    Pero cuando volví a tocarlo y completarlo, encontré una    Sé que esto puede ser controversial, pero creo que Ocarina of Time no es el mejor juego de todos los tiempos. Pero es una obra maestra. Y lo reconozco. Cuando empecé a jugarlo, simplemente abandoné el juego. Pensé que Majora's Mask era una obra maestra y Ocarina of Time era simplemente un buen juego. No me terminaba de enganchar.

    Pero cuando volví a tocarlo y completarlo, encontré una obra maestra en un nivel similar a su secuela directa del 2000. No he encontrado nada malo. Es casi perfecto. Las emociones que he sentido en este juego son las que pocos juegos me han dado.

    Las mazmorras son algunas de los mejores de toda la saga (después de jugar el Templo del agua, entiendo por qué es demasiado odiado). Ofrecen una variedad de diseño en cada uno que abruma, haciendo que todas se sientan únicas sin sentirse demasiado forzadas o extrañas.

    El combate es muy entretenido y dinámico, habiendo inspirado a sagas como los Souls para hacer su sistema, aunque relacionado con el combate, me ha pasado como con Majora's: he disfrutado más de los combates contra enemigos comunes que los que son contra bosses o minibosses. No los sentía muy profundos y algunos son absurdamente fáciles (menos el jefe final, puede ser el jefe más épico de la historia) y

    La historia y los personajes son muy buenos. Aportan mucho lore y explican muchas cosas sobre Hyrule y en general de la saga Zelda. Además, el estilo visual y el OST son geniales tanto para la época incluso (quitando apartado gráfico) para hoy en día.

    Creo que Ocarina of Time es una obra maestra y todo el mundo debe jugarlo para saber los orígenes de muchos géneros.    … Expand

    Unironically, the only part I enjoyed was the Water Temple, it has aged a lot and it is obvious. Was my first Zelda game and really struggled to understand the appeal.

    The best Zelda ever made in my opinion. I know BOTW sold more copies but OoT's more guided approach is much more fun over the do whatever you want when you want in BOTW.

The side quests that were there were great but it would have been nice if there were more. The bosses were all very fun to fight as well. The item variety was also great.
