Brave Burst is a turn based RPG for the mobile platform. It features a stylized combat system, with inspiration from popular games, such as Pokemon. Players take on a role of a summoner who has the unique ability to summon spirits to fight for them in combat.

You can acquire new souls in three different ways. The first one is through combat, you'll randomly capture enemies as you defeat them. The second is using the honor gate to summon them with honor points you'll earn. The final way is the gem gate, that requires premium currency in order to use, but will always summon a rare or better character.

The system is fairly basic and simplistic, only requiring a few taps of your fingers to play the gasket properly.
The game features what appears to be the bare bones of a basic story. There are on occasion large waits in between story telling.

So why the low score? When you first start playing the game is easy, fun and rewarding, but soon after progressing deeper into the game the difficulty is put into high gear, forcing players to rely on premium currency to beef up parties or continue to struggle.

Bosses in piticular are really unbalanced later on, being extreamly aggressive and taking as many as 6 attack turns vs your one. What makes this even worse is when they decide to pop off two, three or even four brave bursts in a row, effectively wiping your entire party before you have a chance to respond.

It's my beliefs they do this on purpose to force players to use premium currency in order to continue or face loosing all the progress you'd have made in that mission.

Speaking of premium currency, be careful. I bought 5 gems and used one to restore my energy to keep questing. During the first round of the quest the game crashed. When I reloaded the game I lost that gem, I lost the energy used to access that quest and I failed the quest. When I contacted the support help e-mail their response was pretty much, "too bad, so sad".

Brave Burst starts out as a nice free to play game I was at first willing to spend money on, but their later difficulty increases, unbalanced bosses and unstable software and service leaves me feeling alienated and ripped off.

The reason I've given the game a 0 rating is because of how many times I've lost my account every time i reached level 115. I poured around 75$ worth of gems to each account as well. I contacted for help with my account ID and they were never able to resolve any of my problems with my accounts being wipped.

It’s got its heart in the right place aspiring to be like the Final Fantasy or Xenoblade series, but it’s still caught up in the platform paradigms we know all too well. In other words, it’s fine for its time, just not timeless.
