Neither [Welcome to Sweden or "Working the Engels"] is awful, neither will make you cancel other plans.... The execution is slick, and sister Amy has cameos, but how many times can they make the sauna jokes?

As Bruce meanders through these segments, determinedly inoffensive, the "Seinfeld" team's immortal notion via George Costanza--"let's do a sitcom about nothing"--comes to mind

It’s refreshing to see NBC bring out a comedy that values subtlety over slapstick, but the situations and dialogue here are just a little too subtle to draw viewers in.

In the end, yes, of course, everyone loves each other. But by the time we get there, the only Swedish word that’s likely to remain lodged in our mind is “meatballs.”

I cringe every time he actually speaks. Lena Olin is great as usual. But it doesn't make up for the fact that this show should NEVER have been green lit. Why is has been renewed is beyond me. It's just bad. Full Review »

It's premise is a little bizarre, but you'll instantly get hooked into this. Only negatives/complaints would have to be the portrayal of the lead character and the stereotypes shown throughout the series. Full Review »

I previously gave this a 4 as I thought they sterotyped Swedes a bit strong(but well most of it can be true) but yesterday with episodes 8&9I previously gave this a 4 as I thought they sterotyped Swedes a bit strong(but well most of it can be true) but yesterday with episodes 8&9 on NBC last night they were back with great smart humor and the emotions come thru very well especially with Josephine and Amy Poehlers acting. Brilliant. As is the scenery of their locations in Sweden. This is a fresh series, smart witty humor. Back on 8 of 10. Well done. (from a Swede in America) Full Review »
