Funny, smart, very likable characters and Lena Olin. One of the best summer shows yet. The characters almost exclusively speak Swedish but that only allows you to better identify with the American duck out of water.

The pilot was OK, but the second episode took a turn towards cringe humor, i.e., humor based upon the discomfort of people in odd or embarrassing situations. About halfway through the episode, I just wanted it to end.

I CHANGE MY OPINION: I originally reviewed "Welcome to Sweden" as a 10 because I felt the pilot episode showed great warmth and humor and no laugh track. It was a show to smile at and then feel good about it. The show has gone downhill faster than a reindeer on skis. Last night I told my DVR to dump "Welcome to Sweden".

The pilot was great! The characters are primarily swedish, lots of subtitles, and excellent humor. I love this kind of show: smart, quirky, and full of characters that are really odd but totally recognizable. Great energy in the show. Love that it is set in Sweden. The clash of cultures is fun to watch.

"Welcome to Sweden" is lovable, smart, funny, dark and one of the most deserving shows of any recent summer seasons (thankfully it was renewed for another, cheap to make season). It's premise is a little bizarre, but you'll instantly get hooked into this. Only negatives/complaints would have to be the portrayal of the lead character and the stereotypes shown throughout the series.

This show is sweet. I love fish out of water shows in terms of Americans in different countries and its interesting to learn about Sweden (because really, who ever thinks of Sweden?). Definitely recommend it if you are looking for something different. it beats BBT reruns.

Neat premise - great cast. Quirky story line is something different, great idea to have Swedish actors and subtitles. Hope this show gets a chance, looking forward to the next episode,

My friends in Sweden hate the show. They are REAL Swedish educated people, in their 20's and 30's. Now, I know why. I have watched the first 3 episodes. The first was somewhat dumb. The second was very stupid and the third, which I watched tonight, was grotesquely stupid. Without doubt, it is the most stupid TV show I have ever watched. The father and son characters are only reason this review is not a complete zero pan.

The show is, however, ruined by the male lead character played by Greg Pohler, a horrifyingly annoying and sophomoric portrayal. He is funny in no identifiable way. The premise for the show seemed interesting and, if pulled off in an adult manner, could have been humorous. It is not. Here was an

Here was an opportunity to showcase, with appropriate humor, the country of Sweden, the Swedish people and their highly desirable culture.

I would be surprised if, without a significant change in the content, this show makes iy past September.

I previously gave this a 4 as I thought they sterotyped Swedes a bit strong(but well most of it can be true) but yesterday with episodes 8&9 on NBC last night they were back with great smart humor and the emotions come thru very well especially with Josephine and Amy Poehlers acting. Brilliant. As is the scenery of their locations in Sweden. This is a fresh series, smart witty humor. I wanted to like this show, but you have seen these jokes in every other bad comedy. I can't imagine anyone actually liking Poehler's character. I cringe every time he actually speaks. Lena Olin is great as usual. But it doesn't make up for the fact that this show should NEVER have been green lit. Why is has been renewed is beyond me. It's just bad.

Neither [Welcome to Sweden or "Working the Engels"] is awful, neither will make you cancel other plans.... The execution is slick, and sister Amy has cameos, but how many times can they make the sauna jokes?

As Bruce meanders through these segments, determinedly inoffensive, the "Seinfeld" team's immortal notion via George Costanza--"let's do a sitcom about nothing"--comes to mind

Sweden is a quiet, gently amusing comedy.
