The pilot was OK, but the second episode took a turn towards cringe humor, i.e., humor based upon the discomfort of people in odd or embarrassing situations. About halfway through the episode, I just wanted it to end.

"Welcome to Sweden" is lovable, smart, funny, dark and one of the most deserving shows of any recent summer seasons (thankfully it was renewed for another, cheap to make season). It's premise is a little bizarre, but you'll instantly get hooked into this. Only negatives/complaints would have to be the portrayal of the lead character and the stereotypes shown throughout the series.

Neither [Welcome to Sweden or "Working the Engels"] is awful, neither will make you cancel other plans.... The execution is slick, and sister Amy has cameos, but how many times can they make the sauna jokes?

As Bruce meanders through these segments, determinedly inoffensive, the "Seinfeld" team's immortal notion via George Costanza--"let's do a sitcom about nothing"--comes to mind

Sweden is a quiet, gently amusing comedy.
