Huge thanks to Lauren Schmidt for a great job. I felt the power of Netflix adaptations in a new way. I understand your philosophy and idea. This concept just amazes me. I remember this series for a long time. I experienced new tastes of excrement. You've done a great job to make this series close quickly. I am grateful to you. I think Andrzej Sapkowski too.

This is what it should have been from the start! The balance between book material and their original ideas was good. Characters finally felt alive and not just figures reciting the lines. Definitely the best season of the witcher in my opinion, the most faithful to the books, there are some changes yes, but they had already started in previous seasons, there was nowhere to run, after the disaster of the second season, part 1 of the third was a good surprise.

I'll say I was almost shocked at the high quality of this video series. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was the creator and showrunner for the series - which I did not know until after I watched the first episode. She has a very respectable filmography and I assume she has a very large role in the high quality of the series.

Obviously, not everyone is going to like an action/adventure/fantasy video series - but, if this is the type of subject material you favor, I would highly recommend that you watch this series.

It probably needs to be pointed out that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich first noteworthy writing effort was for the liberal/leftest American TV series "The West Wing". Hissrich has a strong liberal/leftest ideology that she imparts to this series. Some viewers may not be able to accept this because they are so strongly opposed to her political and social beliefs and/or because it is not within the original spirit of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski works. Regardless, the series itself is of high quality within the context of writing, casting, acting, directing, editing, costume, set design, etc, etc.

I just now took a look at the Metacritic user-ratings .This show is obviously not a "10" and it is obviously not a "0" - but, somewhere betwixt. There is an obvious highly emotional reaction to how Hissrich has deviated from the source material and re-imagined the Witcher into a woke/social-justice platform. I'm ignoring that issue for the most part in my review as I prefer to ignore political/religious/social issues in regard to fictional entertainment.

I've started watching the 3rd season of the NetFlix series of The Witcher.
Henry Cavill who plays the main character role of Geralt of Rivia - a magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a "witcher".
Henry Cavill was not in the second season - and, now looking back over the three seasons the impact that Cavill has had on the series is extremely noticeable.
Henry Cavill is a good actor - but, more so, the Witcher character is perfect for his personality and acting traits.

The Witcher makes other fantasy endeavours looked aimless and weak. The world created in the show provides the stories with their own reality. My only problem with season 3, is that whoever is writing the dialogue uses modern slang and obscenity with little regard for the era, or the overall tone of the series.

Not terrible, but so many subplots and characters make it hard to follow. The story gets very convoluted as it goes on, but at the same time feels like nothing is happening. CGI is not good on some scenes. Fortunately, the three main protagonists keep you invested by making their conflicts palpable.

It seems as though the show has lost its identity or something.. I don't know, maybe the director or writers changes... Some characters were introduced that didn't seem to add anything of relevance.. they were added just to check some box in a list... And the things we really enjoy on the previous seasons were less present.. Yenefer is less pretty.. what's up with that..

Until you arrive at episode 5 and you can only laugh at how wrong the characters are, despite having already seen all the evidence necessary to know they were completely wrong about who had been behind it all thus far.

As expected Henry Cavill owns every scene he's in, not only because he feels like Geralt, sounds like Geralt, but even his presence feels like Geralt. Cavill clearly gave it all, as he usually does despite knowing he was leaving.

Can't say the same for many of the other characters, including Anya (Yen) and Freya (Ciri). Anya seems emotionally detached from everything, and the smarter her character tries to be the worse she looks when she finds out she was in the wrong. But if Anya was mostly emotionless Freya either tried too hard to seem angry when she shouldn't be, and despite everything Geralt and Yen try to teach her of course she always thinks she knows best. Ending up making mistakes after mistakes.

So far considering most episodes are out and the more than predictable outcome of episode 5, can't really say much about this season was worth the time watching. And I seriously doubt the last three episodes will bring anything better.

If anything the last three episodes are entirely foreseeable. Geralt is going to have to again slay a bunch of enemies to try and save Ciri, that of course will be taken. Yen will of course aid with her magic. Basically the last three episodes will thrown in all their chips in action scenes, special effects, and trying to get emotional moments where allies will be revealed to have always been traitors. It isn't even that hard to know who will betray who seeing the five episodes have already given that away as well.

Either way. This season only shows why someone so source material advocate as Cavill left the show, and why he made the right call to leave. Seeing this is no longer the Witcher, but something else borrowing the name but selling a completely different story that can't even grace us with a compelling, intriguing, surprising and thrilling story.

So… Good luck to Netflix trying to keep whatever this is alive past season 3. Either way I'm done with this show, that could've been monumental and instead chose mediocrity.

Henry Cavill is good as usual. He's been good since the first episode of season 1. The rest is just boring. If they wanna change the story of Witcher to such an extend then they should not name the series "The Witcher".
It is as if the writers are not aware (or maybe just don't care) that there are books and an all-time successful game of Witcher.

Andrzej Sapkowski somewhere is wiping tears with money while watching season 3 of Witcher.
Caught amidst an episode from The Witcher's third season, I found myself applauding Netflix's dexterity in finding a digital equivalent of a culinary savior - ketchup. A humble condiment that, albeit bereft of culinary grandeur, can make even the blandest of meals palatable. And it's a good thing they did, because despite its shortcomings, the show remains watchable.
Screenplay has a striking stiffness and arguably some of the most lackluster writing I've come across in recent memory. Its directing too, leaves much to be desired.
Feels like show-runners, armed with a comprehensive checklist of requisite elements, are striving to map the vibrant, three-dimensional world of the Witcher series directly onto the two-dimensional plane of the television screen. Ambitious attempt, but it’s like trying to depict a 3D object on a flat canvas without the aid of perspective or projection techniques, when the end result is often distorted and awkward.

When the show follows the books it can tell a decent story but its always dragged down by the cheap look that especially this season has. It just seems the writers think the books are boring and need to add and change stuff all the time, sadly it doesnt work and we are left with this cheap looking and boring show.
