I really wanted this show to be good. The writers are working with terrible character development. This show is held up by Cavil and CGI fight scenes

Honestly not sure what to say...
From one perspective... it's an abomination. Just weirdly placed plot, which does sometimes reflect the books, and mostly not... woven into something that tries to point to the game story somehow partially.
On the other hand, Henry carries it hard, extremely hard. He does his fighting scenes extraordinarily well. Knows how to play Geralt, how to support

It took me a while, but I made it through the first episodes. Unfortunately, I know the novels and the video game. I seem to be not the target audience, to put it politely. It is as if the writers never read the novels or played the game... or it doesn't matter nowadays anymore. Unsure about this trend. But it may work well for those unfamiliar with the game and novels. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Netflix did it again. Choosing woke political agendas over source material and just general good story writing. No wonder Henry is jumping ship I don't blame him at all. Black washing more characters and making dandelion one of the largest Casanovas in the land gay!?! Go home netflix your drunk. Truly awful. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the first two seasons were bad as well, but their failure to learn from them only makes this even worse. This is what it should have been from the start! The balance between book material and their original ideas was good. Characters finally felt alive and not just figures reciting the lines. You could actually feel emotion. The bonds, the pace, the humour were on point. I'm not a fan of costumes in this show but that's about all that bothered me more while watching. Everything except Geralt's portrayal is truly awful. Why would anyone want to watch a TV series about The Witcher that should be based on the books but has nothing to do with the books? After all, it's not even a good fantasy series. A complete waste of time.

I'll say I was almost shocked at the high quality of this video series. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was the creator and showrunner for the series - which I did not know until after I watched the first episode. She has a very respectable filmography and I assume she has a very large role in the high quality of the series.

Obviously, not everyone is going to like an action/adventure/fantasy video series - but, if this is the type of subject material you favor, I would highly recommend that you watch this series.

It probably needs to be pointed out that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich first noteworthy writing effort was for the liberal/leftest American TV series "The West Wing". Hissrich has a strong liberal/leftest ideology that she imparts to this series. Some viewers may not be able to accept this because they are so strongly opposed to her political and social beliefs and/or because it is not within the original spirit of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski works. Regardless, the series itself is of high quality within the context of writing, casting, acting, directing, editing, costume, set design, etc, etc.

I just now took a look at the Metacritic user-ratings .This show is obviously not a "10" and it is obviously not a "0" - but, somewhere betwixt. There is an obvious highly emotional reaction to how Hissrich has deviated from the source material and re-imagined the Witcher into a woke/social-justice platform. I'm ignoring that issue for the most part in my review as I prefer to ignore political/religious/social issues in regard to fictional entertainment.

I've started watching the 3rd season of the NetFlix series of The Witcher.
Henry Cavill who plays the main character role of Geralt of Rivia - a magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a "witcher".
Henry Cavill was not in the second season - and, now looking back over the three seasons the impact that Cavill has had on the series is extremely noticeable.
Henry Cavill is a good actor - but, more so, the Witcher character is perfect for his personality and acting traits.

It's clear to see why Cavill jumped ship, this season is as dull as dishwater. There is just nothing to keep you interested. Scrap S4/5 with Hemsworth and just put this show out of its misery.

Season 3 pays off much of the show’s early promise—particularly between Geralt and Yennefer, whose shared scenes could snap any second from the romantic and sexual tension.

Based on the initial episodes, Cavill could leave on a relatively high note, thanks to a tighter, more focused third season, at least initially, than the second offered.

Season 3 of The Witcher has enough story and action to satisfy fans of the show. We just wish the characters had a bit more to say.
