Sep 4, 2022It's just another dull boring generic fantasy that may as well not have any association with Tolkien.
-
Sep 2, 2022Really looking forward to this series. but it turned out to be a complete lack of respect for the author and the audience. The series is in the trash.
-
Sep 2, 2022Lacklustre and miscast stars, few stand out, makes you want for an Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen or Elijah Wood. None of the actors sell the performance and its hard to get immersed with the dull characters and poor performances. Overuse of CGI reminiscent more of a video game than the practical effects of the original trilogy that used CGI sparingly but to good effect.
-
Sep 2, 2022Passable and over used CGI. The characters are not recognizable from books I love so dearly. Bad writing and cringy dialog. Costume that stand out and looks cheap. This isn't Tolkien. It more like a generic fantasy then Tolkien high fantasy. There is so much lore breaking. If your a Tolkien fan. This isn't worth your time and you just end up angry
-
Sep 2, 2022This is NOT a Lord of the Rings, this is NOT a Tolkien - this is NOT of anything good at all. **** for idiots. Read books people XD
-
Sep 2, 2022There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for this treachery.

Sep 2, 2022I just finished first episode and I'm bored to the death.
dialogs 1/10
script 1/10
fun 0/10
cgi 2/10
music(Howard Shore) 4/10
spirit of tolkien 0/10
elements of nature 0/10
Hope this would be 'breaking point' to producing holywood **** like this. -
Sep 2, 2022A complete disgrace to Tolkiens legacy. The people in charge should be ashamed for tainting a great mans work like this.

Sep 8, 2022I wanted to give it a chance, I really tried...but I was not able to finish the two episodes. Every character is just not interesting, the dialogs are so superficial and boring, and the pace of the move is way to slow, and nothing really happens. I really can't find anything positive aside from the CGI which sometimes seems a bit...too much.
-
Sep 2, 2022I've never been a fan of Tolkien's universe, but after two episodes I'm downright enchanted by its beauty. Amazon has created a new class of quality in creating the series. I thought that the visuals couldn't beat Game of Thrones, but this series proves me wrong

Sep 2, 2022I am pleasantly suprised!!! The first episodes are superb, good castig, epic battles, an a lush world! As a child i would have killed for a tv show like this which featured my fafourite books! But sure there are flaws, i hope that they will iron it out during the first season! But so far it doesnt deserve the hat it gets on the web!
-
Sep 2, 2022Absolute woke disaster. Lazy script, empty characters that have nothing to do with the original Tolkien.
-
Sep 2, 2022This series is an absolute disgrace and literally the worst thing happened to cinema since Marvel Phase 4. Tolkien would've shot himself with a shotgun if he could see this abomination
-
Sep 2, 2022Even worse than I thought it would be, with a laughably bad script, wooden acting and outright disrespectful casting. Tolkien is nowhere to be found in this Bezos fiasco nor is any of the reverence and attention to detail seen in the Peter Jackson trilogy. So then what are you left with? Nothing and that's what I give it - nothing.
-
Sep 2, 2022One of the worst adaptations ever! Wasted money! Slow scenes, no Tolkien vibes at all! And some crazy dialogues that doesn’t have sense.
-
Sep 2, 2022that's a disaster, I can't believe the people really can watch this........
-
Sep 2, 2022why was this made? 1 is just for the visuals but this is so bad on every other terms!

Sep 2, 2022Atrocious. Insulting. Grotesque. There aren't enough adjectives to describe just how disgusting Amazon's cheesy fanfiction is. This has nothing to do with anything Tolkien wrote (very much the opposite) and everything to do with modern ideological hatred of classical, transcendent beauty and values. "Evil cannot create, it can only corrupt what Good has made".
-
Sep 2, 2022it's badly acted, the dialogues are bland as **** the casting is bad, the music is bad, I still don't know what the plot is about, everything is all over the place, everything feels very restricted.

Sep 2, 2022Completely disrespectful to Tolkien's legacy. Full of woke and political propaganda that Peter Jackson would never have inputted into the show. Written and presented without any creative integrity. If you have any respect for the lore of Tolkien's work, don't even watch this.

Sep 3, 2022I liked the visuals, but that's it. Terrible Casting. Galadriel is completely unlikeable, the Elves are looking ridiculous. It's also really boring. I stopped several times doing something else. Will watch the next two Episodes and then decide if i keep going.

Sep 2, 2022Terrible writing, story, and pacing. Show obviously tried to disguise these with pretty visuals, but the flaws are glaringly obvious. Not the worst thing I've ever seen, but pretty awful nonetheless.

Sep 2, 2022Pretty much everything that made Peter Jackson’s work so good is absent in this show. Heart, whimsy, relatable characters are no where to be seen here. The performances and story are so wooden and lifeless, even the sheen of solid post production can’t salvage this show from being a bland, soulless slog.
-
Sep 2, 2022I just want to something more. Not feels like Tolkien world. This scenario is terrible. These issues are hackneyed and clichéd. From me, only 4/10

Sep 2, 2022Honestly i didnt want to believe the haters, but this show is really bad. so boring and full of political messaging. just another woke show. to bad it could of been great. but its a Zero.
-
Sep 3, 2022I really hope Grandpa Tolkien doesn't see this. This is blasphemy and a mockery of my favorite series.

Sep 2, 2022This surly isn’t a 0 or even a 1, it’s got some effort put into the cinematography, costumes and set design. Definitely no where near a 10, your just kidding yourself if you think this is perfect. It’s a boring, overly political mess. This feels like fanfiction, or another fantasy setting wearing the clothes of lord of the rings.
-
Sep 2, 2022For two episodes, for more than an hour each, there is not even a hint of a normal plot. That's why they released two series. After the first one, they would not have been able to keep the viewer. In the second, they probably hoped for gnomes. It's a shame just.
-
Sep 2, 2022This production is a complete disappointment. this show doesn't make any sense. excessively tasteless. Was this project really necessary?
-
Sep 27, 2022The show can best be summed up by J.R.R. Tolkien with this line:

Sep 2, 2022I Gave High score Only for Music and Visual ... This is absolute disaster for every fan of tolkien!
-
Sep 2, 2022This ruin Tolkiens legacy… Its not true Tolkien adaptation. Just a big budget random fantasy sh*t… :( If you need the true Tolkien lore: read the books! Far better.
-
Sep 2, 2022I am pretty sure that first time in my life I've felt pain in my heart while watching something. Grew up with Lord of the Ring and had hopes for this one but its 100% pure woke garbage.
No consistency, Galadriel acts like toxic feminist ignoring all good advices, story is boring and everything looks like generic fantasy
Few point for nice scense -
Sep 2, 2022
-
Sep 2, 2022only the series cgi works. costumes, script and interpretation of the actors, horrible.
-
Sep 2, 2022I really don’t like the direction they took this series. Changing much of the established lore along with adding unnecessary “original characters” makes for a product that barely resembles the source material.
I feel the compression of the timeline was also inappropriate.
Also what the hell is with the Harfoot accent, it’s almost a caricature Irish accent and borderline offensive. -
Sep 2, 2022I'm very disappointed with this show. It doesn't look like Tolkien at all. Bad acting, bad casting and bad CGI.

Oct 6, 2022There are no redeeming qualities to this show. They took the source material, used the names, and dumped the rest overboard. Just, wrong in every way imaginable. Dwarven women have full beards. Period. Full stop.

Sep 2, 2022I will give this show the greatest insult you can give after suffering through episode 1. I will be ignoring it entirely.
I suggest the rest of you do the same, preferably before attempting to watch it. Especially if you enjoyed the books or even the first three peter jackson movies. -
Sep 2, 2022Unbelievably poor content and a disgrace for Amazon, nothing is Tolkien's.
It is more of the same terrible bad reboot style garbage and intersectionality that is ruining entertainment.
The action sucks, the dialogue is laughable, the costumes are poorly conceived. -
Sep 2, 20221 for the visuals, this show will piss many long year fans off, it has no soul but it has dumb dialogues, its not true to Tolkiens lore and mashes everything up to a generic fantasy blockbuster. They should have spent less money on visuals and marketing and more on the plot.
-
Sep 2, 2022A dull piece of **** devoid any respect for the memory of the our beloved Professor.
-
Sep 2, 2022A gilded turd. The story makes no sense, pacing is jarring, characters are boring, don't waste your time.
-
Sep 2, 2022DO NOT WATCH! 2/10 PURELY FOR THE VISUALS
It's just another generic fantasy series. No connection to any characters and no plot. Don't waste your time it's clear this isn't Tolkien's work. Amazon have literally thrown 500 million straight into the fires of Mt Doom. -
Sep 2, 2022No identity. No likeable characters. Terrible dialogue. Plastic looking costumes. Look away tolkien fans! Your beloved characters are unrecognizable. Dissapointing... add it to the pile of murdered franchises.
-
Sep 2, 2022I can't express how truly disappointed I am. Not just with Amazon, but also the Tolkien Estate itself for selling the rights to a company that clearly had zero interest or intent on remaining faithful to the source material. This is not Tolkien's vision of Middle-earth... it's bloated fan fiction at its absolute worst.
-
Sep 2, 2022Paper-thin characters, generic dialogue. Thematically, feels nothing like Middle-earth. I would have given this at least a 4 if they hadn't piggybacked on Tolkein's IP to scape more viewers. It would have been a solid (albeit forgettable) fantasy on its own. Shame.

Sep 2, 2022Overall very disappointing as expected
This is nowhere near the levels of the films by Peter Jackson
Sadly this is a trend in theese times -
Sep 2, 2022Fan fic level of writing, bad acting, short hair elves without any trace of their grace and ethereal, otherworldly aura. Complete mess to be honest. Had a hard time to sit through the whole first episode.
Sad days for us Tolkien fans. -

-
Sep 7, 2022I’m obviously such a racist for not liking horrible dialog and amateur writing - that’s the weakest deflection ever. It’s categorically bad. Chronologically it is wrong, geographically it is wrong, it’s wrong. Top it off with just generically bad production in general, it’s like they were trying to completely ruin the worlds greatest IP.

Sep 2, 2022It's clearly not a 1 out of 10 although comparing it to it's predecessor, (including the Hobbit series, which were not great) it did feel as though it was not to the same standard. Through out the episodes character make decisions that are against character and common sense on a consistent babis
-
Sep 2, 2022I really had my hopes up, but the characters and story are so empty. Very disappointed as I really believed this was going to be decent. I can't believe the critics are generally in favour of the show. I mean it looks impressive, but everything is artificial.

Sep 8, 2022How in the world could amazon spend 1 billion dollars and produce something abysmal like this?

Sep 2, 2022This is a slap in the face to Tolkien and his great work. I will admit the scenery look good but that is it. Lazy writing the new characters are boring and what characters the fans know are a shadow of their former selves. This is just sad

Adar’s début drips with signifiers. ... When Adar informs Arondir in Episode 4 that he has been told many lies, some that “run so deep even the rocks and roads now believe them,” it is still a thrill. Tolkien succeeded in creating a mythic world, one that has now grown vast enough through acts of typological repetition and imitation to conquer television, too.
-
With war brewing and the forging of the rings seemingly still far off, the first half of The Rings of Power’s first season constitutes little more than stage-setting for the struggle to come. Given the lack of quests and central commanding figures, it often makes for less-than-gripping drama. However, given that there are four more seasons already planned, and potentially dozens of new characters to be introduced, the slow and throat-clearing build is possibly a good sign.
-
The Rings of Power is a reminder of what drew many of us to epic fantasy in the first place: wonder. ... This series set in an ancient realm displays one dazzling and painterly landscape after another. Power also doesn't skimp on action. [12 - 25 Sep 2022, p.10]
