First thing that jumped out to me was the issue with age difference - how did the producer (s) not see this??? Not just Kevin and Erinn either.....also, the show tried to hard - crammed so much in that it looked cluttered - I might give it a 2nd chance but doubtful....

I waited for months to see Kevin Can Wait because I think Kevin James is a phenomenal actor and because I love and still watch King of Queens. I love Kevin and his acting but this one really needs immediate attention if it plans to survive. I hope they fix it because I would like see some new programs with Kevin in it and hope this one will make it. KOQ was such a good and real show I really enjoy watching it. Since they still use his brother maybe bring back Leah Remini?? She was great with Kevin! Hoping for survival... Expand

I was really disappointed - I liked him a lot in King of Queens but it just was not at all funny. And I was thinking - this group is retired? and then - they were police???

I was looking forward to this. King of Queens was great and I still watch reruns sometimes but this new comedy is loud and so far nobody there has any character. Nothing sticks out. The wife is nice and the older daughter has the right charm but her boyfriend is over the top geeky and Kevin's cop friends are flat. I don't know, but I was annoyed during the entire episode. Oh come on! Another older overweight blob husband with hair dye and a younger attractive wife? Would be more believable if his character was wealthy. I'm a huge King of Queens fan and like Kevin James but I think I could've come up with a better sitcom.

This show is a complete zero when it comes to anything close to being entertaining. What makes it worse, besides Kevin James attempt to be funny, is someone pushing the laugh-tract button every few seconds making it appear an audience finds this pathetic show amusing. I usually enjoy Kevin's work, but this seemed to be a lackadaisical and very predictable production. Don't remember any thing that made me laugh so after sitting through the first half I switched if off and went elsewhere. Will most likely check it out at least once more, but nothing about it made me 'want' to watch it again.

Kevin's trying to be Doug Heffernan but it's not working. The actress playing his wife looks like a College Student/ Model....too Young for him. The only funny actor is Gary Valentine.

Turned first episode off withing the first 10 minutes. Immediate problems: Age gap. Retirement age is way too young to represent the norm. The wife is beyond stupid. Boring.

I Am Pretty Sure CBS Should Be Taking Notes Because, This Comedy Is Unfunny, The Rest Of The Seasons Of This Show Could Be Worse And Make Me Wanna Break My TV

I really want to like this show as it's predecessor King of Queens was one of the very best in my opinion. One can argue that it is unfair to compare the two but the Kevin James character, the setting and much of the premise is eerily similar. To the point, so far this show is just plain AWFUL in comparison. The reason is quite obvious to me.

The success of King of Queens was not only the writing but also the chemistry shared between its characters. Nothing personal but Kevin James by himself is nothing. He fed off of Leah Remini, Jerry Stiller, and Patton Oswalt etc. etc. These people can act but the people that were chosen for Kevin Can Wait cannot. They are not remotely funny and the writing is contrived and rehashed with little creativity.
My guess is that the show will hold on for awhile as Big Bang is such a strong lead in, but the characters and the show need a lot of development. Sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn't., only time will tell.

In the meantime I will have to settle more reruns in syndication until something in Prime Time is actually worth watching !

Worse waste of TV air time I have seen this year. Never did like him in anything! He over acts, if what he is doing is acting. I say watch something else.

I was looking forward to seeing Kevin James in this medium again, I really enjoyed King of Queens, even some of his earlier movies. I don't know if the fact that Gary Valentine is there, but I really miss Doug. This new character is like some bizarro Doug, one I'm not willing to let into my living room every week. Give me King of Queens redux!!

I could not watch Kevin Can Wait very long since the enormously obnoxious canned laughter was just too loud, too frequent, distracting, unnecessary and what the heck; it was beyond enormously annoying. This is not the 1950s.

I don't watch much TV at all, but I tuned in because I liked King of Queens and wanted to see what this was about. It was such a disappointment, ,And Kevin james looked weird with his hair dye , freshly dyed just for men beard , and massive amounts of concealer makeup under his eyes. I have no idea what the writers had in mind when they wrote this, its awful, and super predictable and boring. :(

How did this show get renewed? It usn't just banal, it's old, tired and a rip off of better shows. Erinn Hayes should have never left the show! She was a great actress and adding Leah Remini is horrible and looks fake with all the plastic surgery she's had done.

Show was fun to watch in the first season.

If they really wanted Leah back, should have just reprised the old show.

    Stopped watching since the change.

Kevin Can Wait is the most ordinary of dumb-dad sitcoms. James, though, is so winning I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to hang with him.

It feels less like a show of its own than a collection of hoary TV tropes--Schlumpy Guy With a Hot Wife, Wimpy Son-in-Law, Hypochondriac Kid--strung together in service of the pun in the title.
