First thing that jumped out to me was the issue with age difference - how did the producer (s) not see this??? Not just Kevin and Erinn either.....also, the show tried to hard - crammed so much in that it looked cluttered - I might give it a 2nd chance but doubtful....

I liked the pilot episode and I'm looking forward to see how the show grows. The pilot's plot set up the scenario for a possible direction for the show.

There were a couple of out-loud laughs, and a near-continuous smile on my face throughout the show. I've watched Kevin James on TV and in movies, but I cannot say that I'm a loyal fan. I enjoy his comedy when it's funny. So far,

You can never really expect anything Kevin James does to be very revolutionary. Kevin Can Wait is a typical sitcom that is made to resemble James' last show King of Queens. James is married to a far more attractive woman and his character very much resembles his character from King of Queens.

I found the first few episodes of this show to be fairly funny but then everything went to hell in the episodes that followed. The humor dried up early and the series got old quick. All don't mind the classic sitcom format as long as the show is funny and Kevin Can Wait just isn't. I'd be shocked to see this show last more than a year or two.

I'm kind of shocked the reviews for this show aren't better. "Kevin Can Wait," is a charming half hour. It basically goes to show that it's easy to be a critic but comedy is hard. It's especially hard to make it look easy. A critic is, after all, just a person with an opinion, nothing more; and one who is possibly limited by a narrowly defined sense of humor. "Kevin Can Wait," started high and continues to improve. It's well placed among a smart line up and you can watch it with your entire family ... grandma included. Kevin James is a huge talent and he is complemented by a cast that steadily continues to gel. He ranks among the best physical comedians ever and is always likeable, even when his character is being a jerk. Gary Valentine is sensational and will surely become more prominently involved once the show has defined itself ... if the critics don't kill it off prematurely. The writing is crisp and the energy fast paced without being forced. There isn't a single weak character. I especially enjoy Kevin's pals, the other retired cops. This show completely nails 45 year old retired cops. I can attest to this from members of my own family (now full time amateur golfers). Don't listen to the critics or the snarky cynics! Give the show a chance! It's a funny, light hearted, gentle, half hour break from reality. Expand

This is the best series this year. There is so much king of Queens spirit in the air, even if this is a whole new thing. Kevin James and Gary valentine do great jobs. This show is funny, critical and not predictable at all. Didn't laugh that loud while watching for ages. I pray for season 2

This series is funny af. I don't know what you expected, but it brings the "old ghost" from King of Queens back!
Of course it has not the depth like "Suits", "Breaking Bad" or "Game of Thrones", but it is funny. Respect the work!

I was looking forward to this. King of Queens was great and I still watch reruns sometimes but this new comedy is loud and so far nobody there has any character. Nothing sticks out. The wife is nice and the older daughter has the right charm but her boyfriend is over the top geeky and Kevin's cop friends are flat. I don't know, but I was annoyed during the entire episode. I usually enjoy Kevin's work, but this seemed to be a lackadaisical and very predictable production. Don't remember any thing that made me laugh so after sitting through the first half I switched if off and went elsewhere. Will most likely check it out at least once more, but nothing about it made me 'want' to watch it again.

Kevin's trying to be Doug Heffernan but it's not working. The actress playing his wife looks like a College Student/ Model....too Young for him. The only funny actor is Gary Valentine.

Kevin's wife, played by Erin Hayes was very believable and she was really funny. If you liked King of Queens like I did, you'll love this. Exact same character, only a little older and not so stupid. But Erinn Hayes is the real star.

It did not take me long to renew my body through the manual release of toxins when I was alone in my basement. I just thought of Erinn Hayes up on a pulpit in an understated pantsuit that accentuates all the physical gifts that God gave her and it was like the Holy Spirit just gushed out of me.

And it was just 40-some minutes later when I was able to perform my toxin release again but my grandma came home early from her poker game and I had to stop because I'd be sort of embarrassed.

I would give my most firm hug to Errin if we ever did meet and I hope I could control my other less voluntary body functions because being that close would surely get my sensitivities on high alert and I hope she wouldn't be offended if she could feel my love for her when we did hug.

The success of King of Queens was not only the writing but also the chemistry shared between its characters. Nothing personal but Kevin James by himself is nothing. He fed off of Leah Remini, Jerry Stiller, and Patton Oswalt etc. etc. These people can act but the people that were chosen for Kevin Can Wait cannot. They are not remotely funny and the writing is contrived and rehashed with little creativity.
My guess is that the show will hold on for awhile as Big Bang is such a strong lead in, but the characters and the show need a lot of development. Sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesn't., only time will tell.

In the meantime I will have to settle more reruns in syndication until something in Prime Time is actually worth watching !

It feels less like a show of its own than a collection of hoary TV tropes--Schlumpy Guy With a Hot Wife, Wimpy Son-in-Law, Hypochondriac Kid--strung together in service of the pun in the title.
