Gears of War 4 delivers a familiar gameplay experience, while still feeling fresh and new. Although the campaign has its flaws, the story stays interesting. Together with the new and improved Horde mode and multiplayer, Gears of War 4 is a blast to play.

While the world and story of Echoes of Wisdom are a lot like what you're used to seeing when playing as Link, Zelda's distinct abilities make for a fairly different experience. Selecting an Echo is clunky at times, but each can be used creatively as a solution to a myriad of clever puzzles. Performance leaves something to be desired, but the princess' first outing as protagonist is a strong one.

Final Fantasy XIII is probably the RPG of the year and therefore a must have for any RPG-lover. The game is very strong, has beautiful graphics and good voice-acting. Unfortunately after completing this adventure we again have to wait a couple of years for a new part.

The Legend of Zelda Tri Force Heroes takes an original concept and takes it everywhere you want it to go. There is plenty of fun for three players, but the experiences takes a hit when you go at it alone. Recommended for all 3DS owners.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a refreshing mix between Assassin's Creed and Breath of the Wild. The cartoon style gives it a unique look, while the game combines Greek mythology with puzzles, battling epic enemies, and next-gen looks. The open-world is one to remember, but the narration is one to forget at times. All said and done, this is a game that is not perfect, but deserves a spot between the big releases and definitely a spot in your console.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat for at least eight hours. The new direction that is chosen is a good one, even though the ride could have lasted a little longer.

Super Mario Maker 2 expands on the first in a great way. New possibilities, a story mode and coop are a great addition. There are however a few details that can lead to some frustrations, but they are few and far between.

NBA 2K13 really proves to be the king of sport franchises. The music, the atmosphere, the total package this basketball palooza breathes NBA and America. All there is left to say is that 2K13 basically is a slam dunk on all fronts.

Nearly every issue from last year has been fixed, but it's a shame that some online issues still appear. But even with all the other minor issues found throughout the game, NBA 2K12 is a very solid presentation.

The nostalgic game brings classic graphics and combines this with extremely difficult gameplay. This version is just as great as the Xbox One and PC versions, but now you can take it with you.

With Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft sticks to a familiar formula but executes it brilliantly. Add to that the new weather and season systems, along with the expanded base-building mechanics, and we’re convinced that waiting for an Assassin’s Creed set in Japan was more than worth it.

By making The Beatles: Rock Band, Harmonix did a really good job and the game is certainly good in all ways. Unfortunately the few new things aren't all useful and the game doesn't support the other Rock Band content. However, this game is full of Flower Power and therefore you really need to play this at least once in your life.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is quite the handsome collection for gamers who haven't experienced Borderlands before. It's smoother, better and more beautiful than its predecessors on the older generation.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle could perhaps be seen as a weird experiment that owed its success to good release timing. The sequel, Sparks of Hope, proves that view incorrect. The foundations of this strategy RPG remain strong as ever, while several gameplay changes, such as free movement during battle, provide countless new ways to strategize. You may unfortunately forget about some heroes, but it is a small price to pay for such a solid strategy experience. (That also looks gorgeous.)

Super Mario Bros. Wonder has its shortcomings. A traditional lives-system has no reason to exist in 2023 and the game's difficulty seems less balanced in optional content versus the main adventure. But the core of the game is a delight! The foundations of Mario are rock-solid as ever, while the new Wonder Flower and its many surprising effects keep the game from getting stale. Add perhaps the best co-op Mario has ever had, and you're left with a wonderful new entry in the Super Mario Bros. series.

Codemaster’s F1 2018 is a great racing game. If you love the sport and aren’t afraid of the simulation genre, this is a definite must-have. With all-new features in career, more realistic car behaviour and graphics, improved AI and lots more, this is not just a lazy sequel but so much more.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla brings the third party to next-gen and a party it is. Take on the story of Eivor and travel to Brittania to conquer the land piece by piece. The game looks amazing and contains new RPG-elements like building your settlement, pillaging, and a huge new skill tree to strengthen yourself. The story is compelling at that, but the action pushes the assassination to the background. The game suffers from a few minor bugs, but nothing too serious. This is simply a must-play from day one.
