Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is more than just a simple high defintion remake. The game is running on two engines, the original CE one and a new one. It's a great way to show the progress that has been made in ten years. In spite of some technical errors and the absence of many original multiplayer maps, 343 shows that it has the power to create next year's Halo 4.

Shadow of War Definitive Edition is the complete package of a great game. You get to hunt orcs and take over enemy armies. Ultimately this is a hack and slash game, but the RPG elements and stealth gameplay give it a nice twist. Slaying orcs was never so complete.

Forget Borderlands. Borderlands 2 is so much better. The game, which combines shooter elements with RPG-elements, provides action, humor and a lot of diversity. It's a shame that the story is too hard to follow but nonetheless the game stays strong. Not to forget it's got an really addictive element in it: loot!

While it's a shame the game is just a port of the Switch version from last year, there is no denying this is one of the best JRPG's in recent memory. The game is excellent in almost every way. If you can't get the Switch version, this is the way to go.

Cadence of Hyrule is one of the best Zelda spin-offs to ever appear on a console. Brace Yourself Games can be proud on this achievement as it manages to combine the music elements of Crypt of the Necrodancer with Zelda.

NHL 10 is a very good game, but it misses big innovations. For the people who don’t own a ice-hockey game, this game is definitely worth buying. But for the people that already own NHL 09, this is only a small upgrade and not really worth the money.

Mario Kart World is a bold new entry in the beloved kart racing franchise. Knockout Tour is a thrilling new way to play, and while freeroaming in the interconnected world is likely not for everyone, it is fun to have a relaxing Mario Kart mode.

The Summer of Arcade titles are always very strong, but Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is already the ultimate winner. It's a sad story about two brothers, but before you reach the end you will have a lot of fun playing this game.

Resident Evil 5 is a beautiful game with a super good co-op. The singleplayer is not as good as other games in the franchise and the real fans will miss the survival horror, which has been replaced by a lot of action.

The fantastic soundtrack, perfect way of storytelling and the pixel art make you forget the lack of a challenge. The game still feels like an iOS-game, but who cares when it is this brilliant? It might not be the game everyone is going to play, but the one that brings an unforgettable experience.

Rise of the Ronin is a great game for everyone who's looking for a new Samurai adventure to sink their teeth into. With a great historical story, impeccable and spectacular combat and amazing visual style, Rise of the Ronin delivers everything you would expect from a Team Ninja title. Add to this classic formula an interesting open world and some fun co-op and you have a great game on your hands. Some small technical issues hold this game back, but they will no doubt be fixed in the future.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a triumph in many ways thanks to its story, a plethora of minigames, an improved fighting system and a sprawling open world full of activities that are fun and rewarding. The story dips a bit towards the middle though, while the new mechanic that tracks the relationships in the party is a bit unclear at times.

Assassin's Creed III comes as an arrow lit on fire in the ranking list of the best games of the year. The semi-historic settings in New York and Boston in combination with the gorgeous woods make this game by far the best in the franchise.

The Gunstringer is a short game but it packs a lot of power. The gameplay is simply great, with the odd movement registration failure in between, and takes you on an adventure through a very weird and at time hilarious version of the Wild West. You'll be sure to play this game more than once, considering the tons of unlockables and extra features.

With Battlefield 6 the shooter has returned to the glory days of the franchise. Monster Hunter World Iceborne does what an expansion needs to do. It adds tons of new monsters, weapons and armor, which you can use in harder missions. It's story is still weak however and the full price might be a bit too high for an expansion.

Horwarts Legacy on the Switch 2 is a noticeable improvement over the version we got on the original Switch. The game looks much better, the gameplay is smooth and above all: no more annoying loading times - save for a slow door here or there. And as a very nice bonus you can upgrade from the original version for just 10 bucks.

Split Fiction is an excellent follow-up to It Takes Two. Though the very similar concept loses its shine a little bit, constantly changing gameplay, a heartwarming story and plenty of memorable moments make up for that. As does the plethora of easter eggs that can be found throughout the game.
