Even though filled with good ideas, Strayed Lights gives us the impression of being unfinished. It is as if a polishing phase was missing, which would have done it the world of good. In the end, despite such good bones, we can only feel frustrated. Message to Embers Games: don’t rest on your laurels, you have a diamond in the rough in your hands. We are impatiently waiting for a sequel that will be able to take advantage of the universe we see in the background. We want to discover the truth about this falling civilisation and its Lovecraftian architecture. Unfortunately, here, some things are still missing.

Regarding the latest Arkham Austin title, we are not going to hide the fact that we were on the fence. On one side, we felt this irrepressible urge to bash the game, especially concerning its definite lack of finish. On the other, and despite its shortcomings, the title kept us on our toes and we sincerely enjoyed playing it. Saying Redfall is imperfect is an understatement, but with the right follow-up, we really think that it could, in time, rise from its ashes. Hopefully, this will come true as soon as possible. Good luck to Arkane's teams: coming back from this will be quite challenging.

Beyond the technical issues that will mostly be adjusted in time, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a remarkable title worthy of the “fantastic sequel pattern” that have marked the videogame history. If Jedi: Fallen Order was a pleasant surprise and built a solid foundation for another great single-player epic saga in the compelling Star Wars universe, Survivor improves on nearly every aspect of the original game. Indeed, the main characters grow in stature and become more and more endearing. Something quite challenging to achieve considering the ice-cold reception around Cal Kestis during his presentation. For Stig Asmussen, the Game Director, a trilogy was always the initial plan. We are looking forward to this third episode. May the force be with Respawn.

Even though Ravenlok does not feature Alice per se, labelling it as a mere inspiration would be absurd considering how Cococucumber’s title brilliantly takes all the codes of this myth and sprinkles them with others. Graphically speaking, the game is superb and takes us on a journey with its well-designed soundtrack. Despite the enemies’ fancy design, the game’s generally low difficulty against them makes it quite boring. It is a shame as it would have been a real treasure otherwise.

Stay Blade is incredibly generous in its gameplay and the numerous paths it allows the player to take. We go on a challenging, but still manageable adventure in a vast, credible and lively world. Unfortunately, the game design drags the game down. It is very difficult to find your way in this universe where everything looks the same; this huge moving labyrinth constantly evolves as the story progresses. The gameplay and the overall experience are quite enjoyable and are sufficient to make it worth your time. That is why we strongly recommend this game and invite you to follow the next productions of this promising studio.

Minecraft Legends is a potential gem in the making. While it does not revolutionise the genre, it brings a refreshing twist to strategy games with its unusual third-person camera angle. Once you get the hang of it, the title becomes a real pleasure to play. We still have questions about the multiplayer, which we imagine to be really fun and promising. Its potential remains to be confirmed, but the foundations are solid. All in all, without even taking this aspect into account, Minecraft Legends is a spin-off that we consider successful, accessible and enjoyable to play. See you on the battlefield, comrades?

Sifu is a Beat'em up that is almost like a UFO in the genre. It regularly forces the player to analyse his own strengths and weaknesses and offers the keys necessary for one to better oneself, simultaneously as the hero one embodies. Seeing how challenging it is, everything is a matter of calm, understanding and outshining oneself. The story, which at first seems anecdotal, finally promises us a replayability offering a little more depth to the theme of blind revenge that Sloclap wanted to address. All good stuff!

In spite of its arduous development, which gave rise to certain concerns, Dead Island 2 is a real success. The technical aspect is spot on: the quality of its landscapes and the very elaborate atmosphere of its ten explorable zones often make for quite a pleasant surprise. The whole thing is wrapped up in an effective narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat and its well-written secondary characters are the icing on the cake. The title unveils more and more layers throughout its adventure and is filled with good ideas, thus captivating us for the twenty hours it takes to complete it. Of course, the game remains quite standard in its approach and does not revolutionise the genre. Yet, how pleasant can it be to slaughter and butcher hordes of undead foes under the blazing Los Angeles sun. The gameplay is rich and varied, offering many different weapons to play with, while giving free rein to our creativity. Fans of zombie games, go for it! You will not regret it.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is in many ways, quite a surprise. By adopting the pixel art style, Digital Sun Games presents the story of Sylas as a “miraculously rediscovered genesis” of the video game phenomenon that inspired it. Embracing the pitfalls inherent in these technical choices, we more than gladly accompany our unshackled rebel in his battles, both physical and ideological. It's all there: a gameplay without frills but not without panache, an adjustable difficulty adapted to all and a rich scenario that should satisfy fans and neophytes alike. However, we regret the repetitiveness of certain phases of the game, which would have deserved a little more polishing.

The Ukrainian studio Frogwares has opted for a remake of one of their games released in 2006 as a result of the conflict ravaging its country. Rather than being satisfied with a slight remake, the game has been completely reworked from A to Z: that’s what we’re talking about! The story is slightly modified compared to the original, and the graphics are very pleasant, as is the soundtrack. We really get into the game when searching for clues and reconstructing sequences of events. The only small drawbacks come from the characters’ stiffness and the fact that the game only has English subtitles. What a lovely time spent with Holmes and Watson.

Behind her looks of a wild girl with a bad mouth and her thirst for blind vengeance, Vernal is a prime example of finesse and grace once we have a controller in our hands. With a minimum of practice and if you put a little effort into it, you can embody a twirling Dante in 2D wearing petticoats (they are made of steel, though). Hello Penguin Team brilliantly succeeds in offering us a not so “old-fashioned” metroidvania, both rich and complete, while having the luxury of taunting all these modern games over-assisting the player. In short, Vernal Edge takes the best of tradition and modernity to offer us a resolutely solitary pleasure, but absolutely not a guilty one.

With two types of vehicles, four game modes, eighteen tracks and three difficulty levels, Formula Retro Racing World Tour is technically quite a generous title. However, its flaws tarnish the whole proposal. The soundtrack is poor and annoying, the collision physics have not been given any attention and the A.I. is quite bizarre. In addition, the price is far too high for what it essentially offers.

Been so pleasantly accustomed to the narrative quality of DigixArt studio’s works, we were not prepared for discovering Road 96: Mile 0. Rather than capitalising on the previous episode's success by regurgitating its concept, the developers took a risk by proposing a totally different narrative construction in the same universe. This bold gesture did not convince us. Despite the quality of the production and the soundtrack, the game's life span is far too short to leave us with an unforgettable memory.

To sum up, whether for its poetry, its sweetness or promote an original artistic direction meticulously hand-crafted, we strongly recommend that you experience the journey proposed by Papetura. We also want to give credit to the soundtrack when doing puzzles: simple to take on, but not necessarily easy to solve. Sadly enough, there is one thing we regret: its short life span. When enjoying a game such as this, one wants to go back for seconds.

Saga of Sins is a fascinating, although too short discovery, both culturally and historically, for those who are interested in this period. The gameplay does not revolutionise the genre but remains sufficiently sober and efficient for an old-fashioned action game. Jerome Bosch greatly inspired the studio members, who paint a striking picture of mundane Christian guilt in the Late Middle Ages. The gates of Hell have never seemed so close, in this seemingly God-forsaken village that reveals the worst of humanity.

Ten Dates is not a bad game per se. The different scenes are quite pleasant to look at, and the game feels a bit like a movie focused on speed dating. It clearly feels like the choices matter, as it is not always easy to close the deal with your partner. The title is therefore a respectable experience, but you have to keep in mind that it is meant to be at least a little bit serious, and that it is not available in French.

With numerous side quests, rich gameplay, local cooperation up to four players and an attractive art direction, Curse of the Sea Rats seems to have everything one can wish for. Unfortunately, with its difficulty to read content during multiplayer sessions, its short lifespan and a poorly crafted adventure ending, the title leaves a bitter taste. Without being a train wreck, the game is ultimately a failed soufflé.

Hats off to Bendy and the Dark Revival. Building on the experience gained from the franchise’s first episode, which was considered an unexpected success, Joey Drew Studios gifts us with a golden nugget of the genre. Indeed, this shows and proves that anguish, fear and panic are not the essential prerogative of ultra-realistic productions. The discrepancy between the cute visual aspect and the horrors lurking around the corner of each corridor tends to heighten the player’s uneasiness. This horned shadow with a toothy grin that exhales a foul breath over our shoulder is not the Cheshire Cat, but it still pushes us to jump into the nearest hole – if Ink is all around, so be it.

With this, Capcom presents its best do-over yet. Never has the term “remake” been better suited for describing what is Resident Evil 4. The story benefits from a reorchestration that erases the narrative defects of the original work. Offering a modern gameplay without forgetting its original DNA, the title manages to keep the right balance between action and survival horror. If Capcom's wizards manage to do the same magic trick with the two subsequent episodes shunned by purists of the license, all will be forgiven.

Compared to its older brother on PC, Transport Fever 2: Console Edition has nothing to be ashamed of: au contraire. The porting of the title to consoles, carried out by the original studio of the licence, is quite impressive. The controller ergonomics are exemplary. This nice adaptation effort complements a high quality title, both fun to play and addictive. The campaign mode is gigantic and makes us discover with passion the world history of transportation since 1850. If you are passionate about management games or network construction, Transport Fever 2: Console Edition is quite the gem and should not disappoint you. A well-deserved favourite of ours!

Mato Anomalies is a textbook case of something indefensible and beyond all reason. Aping (not to say plagiarizing) the entirety of what was set up by Atlus without even trying to hide it, this looks more like a cheap counterfeit than a real game. Too chatty, too long and without any originality: it’s art direction is the only thing worth a look. So why waste time on a copycat when there are four excellent originals available on the same console?

We dreamed of tasting a great vintage, but apparently, vinegar seems to be what is on tap right now. As it stands, Blood Bowl 3 is unworthy of the magnificent board game it embodies. However, the title has a lot of potential thanks to the field experience and its new official rules, making it still as convincing and fun to play, all wrapped up in a brilliant graphical and technical redesign. Cyanide still has significant work to do. Although the French studio has already rectified some details such as customisation, they will have to go to great lengths to convince fans to choose this opus over Blood Bowl 2.

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos certainly suffers from a lack of budget and polish despite the few postponements already made. Adorned with a scrumptious graphic design and an enjoyable soundtrack, ACE Team's title unfortunately collects shortcomings. If in a tolerant mood, we would say it is just above the average line; in a more virulent one, we would say it is simply unbearable. We wish we could have ignored some of the flaws and game design choices, but the accumulation of a bland storyline lacking impact and emotion, the borderline useless RPG components and the quite ill-adjusted difficulty got the better of our patience, to the point of quitting the adventure before the climax. An unfortunate disappointment, that needs to be quickly forgotten.

Project Zero: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is one of the best games of the licence in the West in its finest habillage. Despite an impressive atmosphere and an excellent French localisation, it suffers from an unpleasant sluggishness, far from the genre's classics: something that might not be everybody’s cup of tea.

Initially, Geometric Sniper - Blood in Paris sent shivers down our spine before comfortably warming us up. Tempted by the proposal of a “Where's Wally?” video game, the non-existent scenario and the repeated stereotypes as well as the bad memories during which the title takes place made our heart cold as ice. Once we put aside what can barely be called a storyline and we shift our focus on searching for baguettes around the Eiffel Tower, a warm smile came over us. When played among people, the game finally unveils its richness and enables us to rediscover the joy of having fun with others thanks to a simple but effective video game allowing everyone to have a good time, whether you are a gamer or not. All of this for a price lower than 3€: what more could one ask for?

We enjoyed the first episode of Dusty and Piper's adventures. We were therefore looking forward to this new title, and what a ride it was! The artistic direction is still as poetic and shimmering as ever. The realisation is flawless, even though we would have liked to fight more opponents. The musicality is once again omnipresent and we gladly rediscover the sarcastic ritornellos punctuating the adventure. Beyond its childish outer layer, Figment deals with mature topics. This second title is therefore the opportunity for a new introspection. If the studio plans to make a trilogy, count us in to keep on with this therapy.

When something is enjoyable, it needs to be acknowledged: BROK the InvestiGator is quite impressive. Disguised behind cute and colourful outfits, it presents us a future that nobody would wish for; yet it is not without hope. It is a real treat to tag along these picturesque and well-written characters’ adventures. The COWCAT studio presents us with a small concoction of mixed genres, something quite rare nowadays. As one can guess, the combat part obviously is subpar to what the specialised competition of the genre proposes. So, grab the hero’s scaly paw and dive into the year 3035: you will not regret it!
