Dead or Alive 6 remains a perfectly solid and enjoyable fighter with a decent smattering of modes and options, as well as engaging mechanics, though it pales in comparison next to its competitors. This Last Round version also adds next to nothing that’s new, however, so if you’ve already rinsed the 2019 original, there’s no real reason to upgrade.

Still the undisputed king of the Octagon, EA Sports UFC 6 is, once again, an authentic, full-featured, and comprehensive MMA package with enough new stuff to justify its existence. The Career Mode grind is starting to get old, but this is but one minor bruise on an otherwise lean, mean fighter.

You may lament the demise of the hokey FMV bits from the original, but rest assured, The 7th Guest Remake is a neatly-executed reimagining of a classic boasting fiendish puzzles, a compelling story, and oodles of macabre atmosphere. The Stauf of nightmares.

007 First Light is a love letter to Bond fans and quite easily the best Bond game in nearly 30 years. With the Hitman DNA coupled with IO’s explosive take on Bond, First Light is frighteningly good and an absolutely wild ride worthy of your time.

A welcome flourish of invention runs through the gameplay, making this the best-playing Bubsy, despite a few snags.

A glistening remake, with a few bright additions, and something of the original’s visual power smudged.

Holy awesome video game, Batman! LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the culmination of TT Games' decades of experience and knowhow with plastic bricks, albeit one that borrows liberally from Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy. The resulting game is a joy and a fitting celebration of DC's iconic Caped Crusader.

Mixtape is a wonderfully magical and nostalgic trip through 90s America, as three friends explore their pasts and get ready for their final swansong, before venturing out into the big wide world. It's a big ol’ dose of nostalgia, injected straight into the temporal lobe.

Forza Horizon 6 is developer Playground Games at the very top of its game, delivering the biggest and most diverse series entry yet, and a triumphant celebration of cars and car culture. It helps that it looks utterly stunning too.

While it may not offer much in the way of an evolution over Call of the Sea, as a sequel Call of the Elder Gods nonetheless expands upon its predecessor in a meaningful way, though it fails to deliver a story that's as interesting or as unpredictable as the original. Still, some complex and well-executed puzzles more than make up for its other shortcomings.

A remarkably lovely and unapologetically cosy story of life in vinyl retail, Wax Heads has heart to spare, a diverse soundtrack, an inviting art style, and a unique record-recommending gameplay hook. Groovy.

An absurdly fun and unique multiplayer throw down, Kiln might be somewhat light on content, but it more than makes up for it with bags of character, immediacy, and infectious gameplay.

Who’d have thought that poncle could make a game as simple but addictive as Vampire Survivors, eh? Never played a first-person dungeon-crawler before? Vampire Crawlers is the perfect place to start - it’s a cracking fusion of turn-based battling and roguelite deckbuilding. Get it played.

While you have to give credit where credit’s due to developer Big Bad Wolf for not compromising in the complexity of its puzzles, it also means that Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss won’t be for everyone. It’s a challenging, flawed investigative puzzler that will drive all but the most patient to the brink of madness.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire is fast-paced first-person shooter fun with an inviting cartoon twist. Developer Fumi Games' debt to DOOM and its ilk is plain to see, but it's the monochrome noir look and energetic animation that marks this out as something unique, like a rich stilton or something.

Crimson Desert's rich and detailed open world is a remarkable achievement, and the crunchy combat is fun, but poorly explained game mechanics, performance issues, and a muddled, rather dull story tarnish what could have otherwise been a rather special RPG experience.

If you're none too keen on roguelites, then Absolum is unlikely to change your mind. But, if you like the idea of a stunning beat 'em up beefed up with the various trappings that come with a roguelite experience, then this will prove to be an unmitigated delight. Turn on the assists, and players of all skill levels can enjoy this.
