Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is one of those games that can quickly put a smile on the player's face. Perhaps the reason for this is because it reminds us of some of the reasons that led - and still do - many of us to love videogames. Addictive gameplay, incredible soundtrack and charismatic characters. Yes, he is inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man, Castelvania and Metroid, but has his own charisma and charm and is very competent in what he proposes to do.

Yes, the new 2D adventure is not a demonstration of Wii U's potential, but it's extremely competent as a plataformer, adding some elements that probably will accompany the series in the future and making, though perhaps unconsciously with its final boss, the eyes of players sparkle and give us a taste of what to expect of Mario in its next tridimensional adventure.

Huntdown is a 2D shoot'em up that balances challenge and fun, with precise gameplay, a captivating soundtrack, and impeccable 16-bit art. Despite the short duration, the game brings an incredible experience being a mandatory title for lovers of 2D action games.

Fire Emblem Three Houses is one of Switch's best games of 2019 and a breeze of fresh air to this franchise. Unfortunately, its poor animations preclude any possibility of being the game of the year.

The second fighting collection (not counting the Street Fighter 30 Anniversary and Marvel vs Capcom collection) includes 3D fighting games from Capcom as well as 2D classics like CvS 1 / 2 and the Upper version of Street Fighter Alpha 3. It has some missing opportunities, like the content from PSP version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 and the inclusion of Rival Schools (since Project Justice, it's sequel, is in this collection), but the game comes with a lot of extras, intuitive menus, and hidden characters. A great addition to the collection for Fighting Gaming addicts.

Kirby Mass Attack is ingenious, overflowing with creativity and content, and able to hold the attention of hardcores and casuals alike. Consistant and surprising at every corner, this last Kirby DS adventure goes out with a bang.

Playing Mega Man 9 is such a nice experience, especially for the ones who had the opportunity to play the classic series. It won't be a surprise to see this game on top of WiiWare sales.

If Monster Hunter Rise was (for me) the best Switch game of last year, the Sunbreak expansion brings enough additions to breathe fresh air into the game, with new monsters, new maps, new abilities, new ranks, and the promise of adding hundreds of hours to your hunting time.

Compared to other versions, Mega Mix is lacking in content, however, the portability makes it an attractive proposition even to those that have access to the other versions. When compared to other rhythm games on the Switch, Mega Mix has an enormous setlist and an amazing gameplay, making this one of the best rhythm games on the console.

Bit.Trip Runner is unique in every way. It's a game that combines platforming and rhythm, with great old-school graphics and sounds. And it's addictive in the same way the old Arcade classics are: based on the player's belief that he can play better the next time.

Boom Blox Bash Party isn't an ambitious game or that want to be a blockbuster. However, the fertility of new options managed to give new life to the original ideas, which themselves were already very rich. A concept that didn't get old with one year. Bash Party is a example of how to do a sequel: improving and expanding the original proposals, but never, in any moment, to do the brightness of the original game fade.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a true piece of art and very well done in a way that we can understand the relationships between the Zelda family, the champions and Link in facing this war against Calamity Ganon. Even those who are not familiar with the genre, I believe that this game is an invitation and takes the Warriors franchise to another level easily.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster brought QoL improvements that make the game a lot better, but even so, it doesn’t cover all the flaws the classic had due to its variety of menus to support all the complex game mechanics. But it’s undeniable that, after going through the hardship of the start of the game, what awaits the player is a fun, challenging, incredibly addictive first-person survival horror in all aspects, from the history and atmosphere to its action, providing many hours of fun.

Little Nightmares II is an excellent sequel to one of the best horror titles with elements of puzzle and exploration. The second game brings the "work together" appeal, with the return of Six (protagonist of first Little Nightmares), and the protagonism of Mono. This surreal adventure is worth every second.

MadWorld is a great game. It has failures in technical and practical points, but none can ruin the fun. No More heroes players must buy the game immediately, and other gamers must reflect if it's better to buy a horrible 40-hour length or an remarkable 10-hour length game.
