Coming as it does then at the end of a the PlayStation 3’s lifecycle God of War: Ascension is a stunning technological achievement which will always satisfy but rarely wow given the ever-decreasing gains as you move from a launch window to year seven of a particular hardware setup.

The Escapists 2 builds upon its predecessor rather impressively. While the crafting expansion can lead to confusion when trying to plot your escape. Still, it's a fantastic improvement on The Escapists and well worth your time.

Despite the extremely ropey visuals and general low production values, State of Decay is a compelling alternative to the linear, plot-driven zombie tales that roam the current gaming landscape.

Tropico 6 is a great step forward. It fixes a lot of the problems that plagued the last instalment and does it while adding plenty of content. Limbic have created the building blocks of something great and with more focus on military interaction of invading and conquering it could become a brilliant all-round experience.

The Wonderful 101 is an incredibly enjoyable game, despite the initially daunting control system. The nonsensical story, funny characters and intense action all come together to create an excellent romp. While the controls do hiccup on occasion and some later sections do drag on a little it still remains a uniquely enjoyable action title, and one of the strongest exclusives currently available for the Wii U.

Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris is a worthy follow up to its 2010 precursor and expands on everything that was put in place in the Guardian of Light.

Blazing Beaks is a lot of things, all at once, splitting focus between a rogue-lite Story mode and twin-stick local multiplayer shenanigans. Neither mode is perfect, and there might be stronger options available if you’re only interested in one of these genres, but there’s an astonishing level of replay value here, across the board. You’d be quackers to miss it.

The best Watch Dogs game yet. While it’s dragged down by long load times and some repetition, Legion is a hugely enjoyable game that offers players a level of freedom that is rarely seen in this genre.

More illnesses, visual variety and challenge are the doctor's orders and Two Point Hospital: Bigfoot dishes out exactly that. An appealing low price and a solid package of content are sure to please fans of the core game.

This game won’t be for everyone. A short playtime and lack of instruction of what to do or where to go, coupled with a range of annoying little glitches, may cause many to get frustrated. However the overall look and atmosphere is incredible. You’ll want to explore each location in order to enjoy the game because the pleasure we get from a journey is perhaps more dependent on the mind-set that we travel with, than on the destination we travel to.

The game is great and keeps you on your toes. I love the variety and how different units play their parts. It is challenging but ultimately fun and rewarding. With a good flow of updating and maybe even mod support, it can continue to be a great game.

Earth Defense Force 5 doesn't do much to get away from the series standards of campy story telling and underwhelming graphics, but does improve upon the series' unique appeal by reducing grind, increasing enemy variety and giving soldiers some new tricks to get around the battlefield. There's nothing quite like EDF and this is the definitive entry in the series.

Even though its quite simplistic, I really enjoyed Box VR. Its music is great and its design is well thought out. It may feel a bit light on features but the game gets you straight into the action and burning off those calories. What more can you ask for? It is great fun and a good workout to boot.

As a 21st-century take on 90s platformers, Mekazoo is a winner. It doesn’t set out to tell a story, or dazzle you with power-ups. It trusts in its core mechanics, a handful of cute protagonists and some lovely visuals, and the end result feels like the gaming equivalent of a decent jazz band: it looks good, sounds great, and when all the components pull together you feel like you’re in the presence of something magical.

Street Fighter V is a wonderful game that’s not ready yet for launch. That’s not to say it doesn’t work - and work well - at what it does (most of the time). The problem is there’s not really enough of it, all working all the time, to warrant a release now.
