The next-gen quotient could have been higher (the online area is fairly weak), as Top Spin 2 sometimes seems like a slightly better version of the original. A bit more thought put into the gameplay definition of “next-gen” would have paid large dividends.

The online and System Link support is the real draw as it comes off without a hitch.

No matter how you slice it, the lack of an official pro license (in a sport where the following of the pro level is strong) for this year's MVP holds this title back a bit.

Flames of Judgment is not a bad game. Visually, it’s got a distinct style, foregoing the usual anime style for a slightly more modern animated style that’s closer to some of the CGI cartoons you see on Saturday mornings.

While the single-player game is also enjoyable this game was designed to be played with others. It's easy to pick up and difficult to put down. The fast-paced, frenzied gameplay will have you and your friends addicted for hours.

There is some fun to be had both in single player and multiplayer game modes, but there aren't a lot of areas that Rogue Agent separates itself from the competition.

While it’s clear that Asobo spent ample time in perfecting the tech that’s needed to enable a speedy racing game to run smoothly for hundreds of (no-load) miles on end, more attention needed to be paid to the fleshing out the Career objectives and tightening up the overall presentation package.

While the animations and physics are vastly improved, there’s too little else to like with this series. A general art direction overhaul seems to be in order, plus, a bit of A.I. tweaking could cut down on all-world goaltending occurring on any difficulty level.

Infinite Undiscovery is more of a gateway RPG than an all-out epic; real-time combat, less story-driven side activities/exploring and a shorter overall play time allow easy access for the JRPG n00bs. There are a few technical hiccups to get over, but Infinite Undiscovery is still a worthwhile romp for those looking for a JRPG-lite in 2008.

Some people won’t get what’s so fun about Serious Sam, preferring the more advanced graphics and realistic action of more modern shooters. But you don’t have to be an old fart to enjoy this classic gaming throwback. Sometimes just shooting stuff without having to solve puzzles or tactically engage an enemy is what we want to do, and for that we will always have Serious Sam.

Has its flaws, such as the camera and clunky controls, but is a nice total package. It definitely captures the feeling of the Buffy universe in more ways than one.

While we certainly give 2K and Visual Concepts/Kush an “A” for effort with NHL 2K8, the bottom line score is a bit less. While NHL 2K8 still has the heart of a champion and features its rivals can’t touch, the competition has finally figured this video hockey thing out for the most part.

Sega Rally Revo’s gameplay is both basic and difficult, and thus aligns correctly with its Sega Rally Championship roots, but these traits don’t transfer as well onto a complex console of the new millennium.

There's not a whole lot of innovation here, but the storyline is very cool and the authenticity is stellar.

The concept of Iron Phoenix is very intriguing and it has been pulled off nicely. A sixteen player online fighter is innovative, but Iron Phoenix's execution holds it back just slightly.

Overall, the sound is probably one of the biggest factors of the game that really makes you feel like you are a part of the Star Wars universe.

Despite the glaring flaw of a cramped field of play, there’s no denying that Triggerheart Exelica is still a blast to play. Nonstop action teamed up with unique gameplay elements and easy to use controls make this just the game to please those of you longing for a good ol’ fashioned space shooter.

If you’re a fan of the original Golden Axe, this is definitely worth a download, as it’s essentially the exact same game you played in the arcade. The combat is just as basic, the magic looks just as bad-ass, and the end boss is still frustratingly tough.

Medal of Honor Airborne pushes at the boundaries a bit, but mainly stretches the franchise experience, not necessarily breaking new ground for the game industry as a whole.

The idea behind NBA 2K10: Draft Combine and the way it complements NBA 2K10 is a great one, and I hope to see more sports games do things like it. I’m looking at you, Madden.

The suspect cameras and lack of solid or customizable controls will undoubtedly make some gamers mad they picked this one up. The rest of you who are used to mediocre controls (read: PC gamers) and are fans of taking turns will dig Worms 3D: Special Edition in a big way.

Shaun White’s not the best, nor the worst, snowboarding title we’ve ever played. And its greatest moments are occasionally dragged down by imprecise controls and a sometimes fun-siphoning story campaign.

A schizophrenic experience for me. I really liked the story evolution, though on occasion it did drag a bit, but I was severely put off by how the developers chose to challenge players and, I guess, keep then engaged (meaning not finishing the game as quickly).

The camera system prevents the story mode from being the heart pounding, wind-through-your-hair experience that was intended. The team-based gameplay feels forced and takes a lot of the creativity away.

What 2K2 lacks in graphics, it makes up for in faster, hard hitting realistic game play that coincides with top notch commentary that I feel surpasses the great number of its competitors.

The game was actually humorous and fun, and the introduction of two players is an unbelievable welcome to the series. However, the overall experience winds up being repetitious by the end, and rather short.

It might be time for the makers of MLB 2K8 to take a step back from adding bells and whistles, and put a little more concentration into the on-field action. In a lot of ways they’re headed in the right direction, but if the game itself is frustrating to play, all the cool features and classic players, and awesome mo-cap animations go to waste.

The close-quarters fighting system is by no means deep, but the inclusion of the style system and the takedown attacks makes for some interesting hand-to-hand scenarios. The acrobatic moves don't hurt either.

While Koei has done a fantastic job in bringing DW4 over from the PS2 it would be nice to see the Xbox used a bit more towards its capacity.

A pretty decent kids game based off of a movie franchise, which is almost unheard of in the current days of the console.

Despite these problems, Matt Hazard: Blood, Bath, and Beyond still manages to do a good job at being what a video game should be … entertaining.

Although there's a steep learning curve, you'll be having a grand old time once you get the hang of the controls. Hardcore strategy fans are in for a treat.

With all of the games available on Xbox Live, it’s pretty hard to find something that actually feels completely original, but Elements of Destruction does just that. The game’s blending of strategy and action, mixed in with a meteorological arsenal that would bring a tear to Willard Scott’s eye, all come together to make this a title that deserves a spot on most Xbox 360 owners’ extended forecast.

It's a little disheartening to see how much the Xbox version is missing when compared to its Xbox 360 doppelganger, but I suppose that's what you should expect when you pay forty bucks less for a game.

The Campaign mode is worth the ticket into the stadium, and there's enough attitude here to keep you occupied well into the fourth quarter.

It provides gamers with a creepy, action-packed experience with a solid plot and unique designs. No one should go into Jericho expecting the “Citizen Kane” of gaming, just like no one expects a slasher flick to win an Oscar. Instead, Jericho should be enjoyed for what it is: an interactive horror experience, good for some chills, thrills and a little bit of ye old gore factor thrown in for good measure.

KrissX has a nice concept behind it, and a gentle presentation style that can be really soothing. But I fear serious word freaks will find it a little too simplistic.

Despite its less-than-thrilling presentation, it doesn’t change the fact that the Bass Pro Shops: The Strike bundle with the controller is actually the best fishing experience you’ll find on the X360.

Stick to the four or better multiplayer mayhem, and you’ll find Shred Nebula offers you more than enough bang for your ten space bucks.

One of the best platformers currently available on the Xbox and the gameplay is surprisingly challenging and deep. The humor of the script is what keeps Tak 2 an enjoyable game to play through and is reminiscent of movies like "Toy Story" and "Monsters Inc."

Expect many to rejoice in trivia paradise online or with friends at home to this basic, yet solid, title. Now put down the mouse and pick up the die because it’s time for me to roll on out. Cheesy? You’re damn straight it is!

It’s not even in the same stratosphere as Oblivion, but it does offer a futuristic, far Eastern flavor that Elder Scrolls lacks.

It’ll take more of a giant leap, rather than a few baby steps, to truly catapult the JRPG into a league alongside its Western counterparts.

While I applaud the extra missions, MSCS shadows their importance and lessened my affinity for this unreal coin-op title.
