Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster might not have earth-shattering additions, but the graphical updates and quality of life adjustments that are here make it a joy to return to these fantastic JRPGs. Both games are a delight to play on the Switch. There’s a charm here that I longed for when I played Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, and I’m delighted to think how much joy they’ll bring others. These are fantastic games, and I hope for further preservation efforts for other entries from Konami.- Siliconera

This is a collection that is lovingly crafted for fans of all levels and is well worth a look for a peek at the simpler, arguably more thrilling days of Yu-Gi-Oh! That said, it is missing some of the best games in the series like The Duelists of the Roses and the Nintendo DS World Championship titles, so here’s hoping this collection is only the start.- Siliconera

Cabernet is one of the more unique vampire games I’ve played, and I enjoyed maintaining a balance of managing Liza’s life while also dealing with more pressing tasks. It helped that some of her new contemporaries are also quite personable and fascinating. I just wish that some of the major campaign elements, at least early on, were a little more thrilling or that the Switch version was better optimized for the console.- Siliconera

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is a mixed bag. It’s an excellent remaster that balances preservation and improvement. However, two-thirds of this package are games that are, at best, merely fine, even with improvements. For The Last Revelation though? It’s worth it for that alone.- Siliconera

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog is a surprise indie hit this year. If you like games like Mouthwashing that come out of nowhere, this is one to check out. The hook is the incredible graphics. It feels like what we remember a 1980s or 90s anime to look like. But it goes beyond that with minimally challenging gameplay, memorable characters, and witty writing. While I did run into some problematic bugs, I look forward to the next story in this sci-fi universe.- Siliconera

If you find the gameplay loop of the Two Point franchise repetitive, then this title won’t suddenly make you start seeing it from a different lens. However, fans of the genre will feel right at home with Two Point Museum, as it changes just enough of the core features to make it enjoyable and refreshing. Truthfully, Two Point Hospital is still my favourite entry, as you can fully grit your teeth into one stage before moving on to the next. But this is still a delightful experience, and if you’re on the hunt for your next business management title, then be sure to put Two Point Museum on your radar.- Siliconera

Chrono Gear: Warden of Time is exactly what you’d expect from a project like this. It’s rough around the edges but made with such obvious love that it’s hard not to find it charming. It’s far from the best in the genre, but there’s still plenty of enjoyment to be found here, especially for Hololive fans.- Siliconera

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is worth picking up if you just want to play as Akira and smash some folks with more accurate online play thanks to the game’s Rollback Netcode. The game is solid online and features a large roster of fun, unique characters (even if I find them visually dull) to keep you busy for years as you learn the nuances of how they fight. All the same, a few more extras or modes from past games might have made this purchase a bit more palatable. Even so, there’s a lot of fun and challenging fights to be had here.- Siliconera

While the developers obviously put heart and passion into Waiting in the Lime Forest, it’s hard to recommend this game at its price when it doesn’t feel like it offers much in story or gameplay. Maybe in future updates, BARON DU JUVÉNILE will add more mini-games or another ending. In any case, I wish them well on their future endeavors and hope they can bring any lessons they learned from this to their next project.- Siliconera

Without the, ahem, near-infinite wealth of content of its predecessor, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is unlikely to be anyone’s favorite Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio game. But as a side story? It’s a great time.- Siliconera

Synduality: Echo of Ada has the potential to become a fun mech-based exploration third-person shooter game with a waifu/husbando companion. But while I wanted to recommend it to my fellow mecha-loving friends, I really cannot at the moment due to the lack of personalization features in that aspect.- Siliconera

Dance of Cards, overall, is a strong Poker and narrative game that went all-out with its gambling theme, aiming to make the player feel the same fear and exhilaration as its in-game characters. I really came to this game expecting very little, but instead got an experience that drew me into the lives of its characters and had me experiencing a hint of their own terror and the rush of a deadly risk. While I have my problems with the ending and some of the game’s problems, it’s still an impressive game that has a lot to offer if you’re willing to give yourself over to its quirks.- Siliconera

Overall, Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos is a strange game, and not necessarily in a good way. The concept is fun but poorly executed thanks to muddied visuals and unsatisfying driving mechanics. Fans may enjoy the character interactions but may still be put off by how much of a departure it is.- Siliconera
