DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou is one of those games that basically you tell a bullet hell fan to pick up because it is an essential title, but perhaps advise a more casual fan to consider if they like the developer or series first.

However, these moments aside, it’s easy to recommend Blade Chimera. If a cyberpunk Metroidvania with a cool magical sword and an intriguing yokai-infested world sounds good to you, you need to play it.

Between Tales of Graces f Remastered‘s challenging endgame dungeon and collectibles, completionists can easily sink over a hundred hours into this game. Its palatable story and fast-paced combat also make it a good introduction to the series if you’ve never played Tales before.

Dynasty Warriors Origins is heading towards the right path to revitalize the gameplay actions and presentations, but the numerous corners cut in the lore and character roster will sour the experience for long-time fans.

Over a decade after its release, Freedom Wars Remastered is a competent action RPG with a surprisingly engaging gameplay loop and combat system.

The best thing about Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is simply that it gets this immensely enjoyable action-RPG onto more modern platforms.

Both MySims and MySims Kingdom are pleasant, upbeat games that let you be creative, and MySims Cozy Bundle lets you take your time with both.

Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop has a lot going for it, but I think a lot of your enjoyment will be based on how or where you play it.

I appreciate how The Cabin Factory builds upon this new walking simulator area of the horror game genre established by The Exit 8, as it does really make picking out anomalies feel critical and helpful in understanding what’s happening. The implementation of some story elements adds insights that might even make it more scary for some people. However, I do think maybe it needs a patch or two with some balancing or adjustments to make sure there aren’t situations that might feel unwinnable. But if you do like these types of horror experience, it’s a fun one.

If you’re a fan of the series, Fairy Tail 2 is a great time, although technical issues on Switch hinder the experience.

I’ve spent over twenty hours with Everholm, and I know I’ve only scratched the surface of what there is to see. I like the aesthetic vibe of Everholm, and the gameplay has an enticing daily routine cycle that will be a hit with fans of Stardew Valley. The supernatural mystery failed to hook me in, but the tasks were so enjoyable that it wasn’t as big of a deal as it should have been. But there are quite a few issues that sometimes break the immersion. That said, the developers are already addressing some of these issues, which is great to see, as Everholm definitely has the fundamental ingredients of an excellent farming sim.

Maid Cafe on Electric Street feels like it is designed to recreate the experience of living in Japan, being in a maid cafe environment, and going through your day-to-day life. However, it’s done in a way where it isn’t exactly idealized, due to the fact that there are still moments that remind you that real-life isn’t always happy and fun, and being at a maid cafe wouldn’t be an easy life with everyone excited, energetic, and a perfect idol-type. I appreciated its quieter moments and simplicity, and how it let me gradually work toward a better tomorrow.
