Having devoted so much time and effort to gameplay mechanics and style, 5 Lives Studios almost ignored the narrative matters, but the game is fun even without a coherent story.

Since the announcement, I was wondering how Frozenbyte would tackle a whole lot of problems that arise with the introduction of a third dimension, and adapt a previously one-plane gameplay to the new reality. The answer drove me into an abyss of desperation: they did nothing.

I don’t understand why CDF Ghostship exists at all. It is pretty much a carbon copy of Ghostship: Aftermath sans the dreadful feeling of desperation.

Aside from (mostly useless) experiments with weaponry, The Weaponographist has nothing going for it.

    ICY
Despite quite a few flaws, I enjoyed my time with Icy. It is weak as a game, but it knows how to tell a good story.

Drab, monotonous, predictable — these words come up even just after 5 minutes of playing the game. Vogelsap failed to walk the thin line between minimalistic and primitive.

The Red Solstice is very difficult to master, but if you spend enough time learning the game and find good friends to play it with, you will enjoy it.

Maybe, a year from now, adventures in Zagoravia will become much more interesting, but for now, even the co-op mode and the PvP arena can’t help Victor Vran.

A beautiful world, amazing soundtrack and a fantastic story full of mysteries, touching scenes and emotions.

It’s a good thing that Subject 13 is astonishingly short, otherwise we could have had another Moebius on our hands. The game could have won people over with its story, but the writer had given up halfway through, and the rest is just not worth your time.

This Colonial Conquest is just a mangled version of the original game that was released exactly 30 years ago.

Pixel-hunting for small, barely noticeable items in dark rooms is a crappy idea for a horror game by itself, but timer just adds insult to injury. And don’t bother suffering through this for the story, because there is pretty much none of it.

Bladestorm: Nightmare has lots of concepts that could have made it a very special game. Unfortunately, most of them don’t work, and some are even useless.

The world of Cradle is huge and beautiful, but oh so ludicrously empty.

Just like in Sunless Sea, at some point, gameplay inevitably gets in the way of enjoying the story. As soon as you master all the elements, gadgets and upgrades, flying through space will become a nuisance.

No Arcade mode, no Survival, and you can’t even fight with a friend on the same screen, like it was in the original Karate Master… All you can do here is learn all the special moves, complete your training, defeat all the masters and forget about this game forever.

Fighting games live and die by their controls, and Kings of Kung Fu has the single worst imaginable malady — input lag.

Weak story is the worst thing in Neon Struct, complete with two-dimensional characters, huge plot holes, and bad writing.

A decent collection of racing-themed puzzles for those who prefer really hardcore arcade games.

The gameplay and its mechanics are incredibly simple, and there aren’t any new ideas, but boy, it can be so fun.

Yet again, Stardock did not produce a perfect 4X fantasy game, but Sorcerer King is much better than all their previous attempts. Right now, it is a bit boring, but, fingers crossed, things may change after an expansion or two.

Shelter 2 is pretty much a happening like the first game, but this time around, it is a mature work of art that has a clear idea at its core.

In Sunset, Tale of Tales decided to construct something that looks like a traditional game instead of their usual half-abstract interactive installations, and then it became clear – oh my God, these people have no talent for making games at all.

Veterans of the genre and fans of the original board game will probably enjoy this adaptation. Everyone else will deem it too uncomely and dull.

There Came an Echo is hardly a full-fledged commercial game. It is more like a cool 3-4-hour proof of concept which shows you that yes, you can make a good strategy game fully controlled by voice.

A stellar example of a game that is totally not worth your time. No one will reward you for suffering through ho-hum gameplay with a well-crafted story, and there is not enough humor to make up for all the flaws.

A well-balanced mix of arcade and text adventure, funny jokes, stylish graphics and sleek game design elevate 60 Seconds above all other post-apocalyptic survival games. I wish there were more objects and storyline twists, but even with this amount you will get enough random combinations to last you a few days.

Even if its strategic gameplay pretty much boils down to figuring out a perfect combination of actions, Rebuild 3 is incredibly addictive.
