An incredibly immersive RPG/adventure based on the works of H.P. Lovercraft that misses on true greatness due to its unpolished release and abrupt ending.

Having a subtractive design at its core, Blasphemous doesn't fiddle with the tried-and-true Metroidvania formula. Instead, it keeps things simple and grabs the player's attention with its despondent imagery and its riveting atmosphere and world building.

Daymare: 1998 is an unapologetic love letter to horror games of the 90's and especially the Resident Evil series. It may be janky and tough at times, which is likely to put off newcomers, but it will have a certain appeal to the fans of the genre.

Even if you just want to play a basketball game and you are frightened by the NBA 2K's hardcore character with its irreconcilable gameplay or if you are still averse to microtransactions, you have no alternative. Until next year's 2K21 of course.

Impressive visuals, lengthy campaign and rich multiplayer, Gears 5 summarizes the definition of an AAA game. However, its technical issues and the restrained open-world element, somewhat diminish the experience.

Decay of Logos tries to provide a compelling spin on the beloved Dark Souls formula but while it succeeds in creating a beautiful world of interesting lore, it falters at the task of offering a well-tuned and fun combat system.

A completely fresh idea delivered with a mix of already tested mechanics. The result is an almost perfect game which would have been perfect if it was focused a bit more in enjoyment rather than simulating the exact life of Hominidae.

Its main villain duo can't hold a candle to the greatness that was Handsome Jack, its humour is rather lacking compared to the series' previous instalments, and it is not without its technical issues at launch. Gameplay-wise, however, Borderlands 3 is definitely the best we've seen from the series until now.

In Ion Fury there are no fancy cutscenes and QTEs, health regeneration or skill trees, just good, old, balls-to-the-wall action. If you have enjoyed games such as Duke Nukem 3D, Blood or Shadow Warrior, then you'll have a blast with this game too.

Bard's Tate 4: Director's Cut winks at you with meaning while telling an "innocent" joke or making a dad pun. It takes you on a journey to lakes of mist over the sea of Orkney islands with its music. But most important of all, it reminds you what videogames should be all about. Damn fun.

An impressive 4X/Tactical game hybrid whose only major fumble is that it fails to communicate its vast array of features in a simple, beginner-friendly manner. There are months of exciting gameplay here if you're willing to persevere.

Night Call provides some compelling everyday stories wrapped under a neo-noir narrative game. At the end of the day (no pun intended), it succeeds in showcasing the everyday life heroes (however big or small) of a large city and their concerns.

Silver Chains is a mundane haunted house saunter with all the twists and turns you would expect in a premise like this. Even though there is some chilling ambience in there, its short duration, meagre evocative moments and easy puzzles constitute a rather unexceptional experience.

Every fan of traditional point n click adventures must play and support Gibbous: A Cthulhu Adventure. A really solid and complete game, including humorous dialogues, smart (but not very difficult) puzzles and a unique cast of characters, with only drawback its relatively short duration.

A fun and absolutely gorgeous co-op FPS with a rather lackluster story and single-player mode. Nevertheless, a solid choice for anyone looking for some quality co-op action.

Blazing Chrome is a great game for its kind, as it could easily be declared as a sequel of Contra, without anyone being misunderstood. If you want to test your skills on a hard-boiled old school run 'n' gun game, you will not find anything better than this one.

My Friend Pedro is undoubtedly a remarkable title worth trying, as long as you know what you are buying. It is a game that you have to play over and over again, it is based a lot in style and it can offer several hours of pure, though repetitive, adrenaline action.

The Sinking City's unique blend of Detective gameplay and Cthulhu Mythos elements will intrigue fans of H.P. Lovecraft's works, even if certain shortcomings ultimately prevent it from truly standing out as the best Cthulhu game ever made.

Layers of Fear 2 narrates an unnerving and dramatic story about the struggle of the actor to attain the perfect character on a path strewn with abhorrently masked imperfections. It may not be the scariest game ever made, but it's certainly one of the most introspective.

Druidstone draws inspiration from a variety of genres (even tabletop boardgames) and combines all those elements elegantly. Its whimsical writing and beautiful (Trine-sque) art should not fool you. This is a game which will put your tactical planning skills to the test and demand forward thinking in the development of your characters. Another spectacular result from the makers of the Legend of Grimrock series.

Pathologic 2 is a weird and unique experience, besmeared by some optimization and balance issues. Its narrative, story, and atmosphere are suffocating under the weight of its mechanics and I'm pretty sure that heavy reliance on meta-gaming to avoid hitting a roadblock wasn't something its creators intended.

Artifex Mundi flex their point-and-click muscles for the first time, delivering simple riddles and a comical tone in a neat package. While aiming to be satirical with its wonderful art (homage to The Curse of Monkey Island/Deponia games), it does not avoid the pitfall of being too preachy. The latter results in one-dimensional characters who are narrative simplistic vessels to the moral of the story.
