It’s not without faults, of course; Flux and Singularity could be explained a little better, a run button on the world map would be welcome, and Endir’s place as a silent protagonist is a bit disappointing. Still, I Am Setsuna kept me fully engaged from start to finish and, overshadowing any complaints I might have, provided a world and characters that I care about.

Super Stardust Ultra is a classic which everyone deserves to give a try, but if you’ve played before, proceed with caution.

Layers of Fear is an incredible ride through an ever-changing house that demonstrates an understanding of the horror genre. It succeeds in creating a genuinely unsettling house that never relies too hard on cheap scares. Instead it’s filled with moments that’ll stick with me for a long time.

Arcade Mode alone is enough to get me back into playing the game regularly, but aside from that there’s still enough new additions here to make this an easy recommendation for anyone.

Hot dog costumes, door-to-door trick-or-treating, a dystopian future, and plenty of bad candy corn jokes are all just a small piece of what makes Costume Quest 2 another worthy game that should grab your attention during the month of October.

Extreme Exorcism is a pleasant surprise and a very welcome addition to the local multiplayer revival.

I like most of the songs on the track-list, but a lack of genre variety has left me wanting a little more. Even after one week of play I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be wanting to keep coming back to this one.

Your enjoyment of Scram Kitty DX will likely come down to how you feel about the controls.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge is a great first impression on a series that I’ve been curious about for a while now. What it lacks in length it more than makes it up for in level design and precise controls.

Titan Souls is super fun, challenging, and rewarding in a way that not many games are. Also, shooting an arrow through a Yeti’s butt has never felt so great.

It’s all about going fast, perfecting jumps and slides, and going even faster than the last run. That’s Action Henk in a nutshell – faster than last.

I truly hope that more games attempt to give real world context in the same way that Never Alone does.

At this point, around 20-30 hours in, I might have spent more time watching Just Cause 3‘s loading screens than playing some of the smaller indie games that have released on the PlayStation Network.

Futuridium EP Deluxe is an easily forgettable title that can only be recommended to people who want an extreme challenge or die-hard fans of space shooters and/or puzzle games. If that’s not you, then I’d take a pass.

That said I absolutely recommend setting aside the five hours it’ll take to unlock the four truths and to seek out the true ending. The narrative and how it’s told is really interesting and is absolutely worth seeing.

The story kept me going and the overall fun of the puzzles made the game an amusing 3 hour treat which is well worth the money.

Headmaster is so much more than what it might appear to be, and it’s one of the biggest surprises for me coming out of the PlayStation VR’s launch. It’s creative, funny, and provides a perfect example of what VR could bring to the table, while also being far more than just a VR tech demo.

Hatoful Boyfriend is enjoyable enough for just being a weird pigeon dating sim. The truth about the reality of St. PigeoNations is what elevates this beyond what I ever expected. Learning that truth takes time and every second is completely worth it.

Placing that final keystone to solidify my creation has always injected a dose of lightheartedness to the experience. If you like building in any capacity, or are looking for yet another top-notch multiplayer PSN game, Tricky Towers is for you.

Lost Dimension doesn’t exactly live up to the high hopes that I had for it. The story and characters are lacking and combat begins to drag the further you get through the game.

In spite of any shortcomings it may have, Wayward Sky is very cool and the game presents a fantastic sense of scale in VR. The fortress is gigantic, there are plenty of opportunities to look around and take in the view from wherever you are in the game, and there’s especially a moment with a particular giant robot that really deserves to be seen for yourself.

The Deadly Tower of Monsters took me about 4 hours to complete, and finding all of the collectibles and completing all of the missions, may take you another hour or two. I never got tired of the game, but it felt like it ended at just the right time.

The story Bound presents is simple, it’s easy to relate to, and it’s one that’s not afraid to touch on some brutal realities. Yet, at the same time the raw emotion exhibited through the princess and her dance is enough to shine a little light in situations that can almost feel helpless.

It’s a sadistic thrill ride that dies down way too quickly, and unfortunately, I don’t see myself going back and playing it again anytime soon.
