Titan Souls is super fun, challenging, and rewarding in a way that not many games are. Also, shooting an arrow through a Yeti’s butt has never felt so great.

Acid Nerve's done a nice job crafting a game that provides a challenge without being overly frustrating, and more importantly, that's easy and enjoyable to play.

Simple, strategic combat and an assortment of unique bosses make for intense bursts of gameplay that will keep you coming back for ‘just one more go’. And another. And then one more.

Unfortunately, Titan Souls lacks of many aspects that could have made a magnificent title. The combat and gameplay mechanics show many flaws that leave success to luck and randomness in many occasions.

It's also a meaningful exploration of the frustration and release of boss battling. [June 2015, p.86]

Titan Souls earns its rightful place as one of the toughest games of all-time and while some will immediately fall for the elegant yet simple design and alluring fantasy world, others may be turned off by its unrelenting difficulty.

The lack of information about the world makes you feel like you're just roaming a random castle or tower, like those Mega Drive roguelikes where the only goal was to get to the end. The length and price just help to make this excellent idea more unattractive.

That is, if you are paying $10 or less like I did. I finished the whole game (all titans, challenges not accomplished) in 2.5 hours, almost on the dot. If it was a $30-40 game, the added difficulty challenges would just make me hate it this game for the lack of content, but I had enough fun with this game, despite my anger at the bosses and the randomly lucky shots I made on about 7 of the titans.

But for $10, I got a wonderful soundtrack, nice animations, unique game play features, cool mechanics, astounding bosses, and great extra modes after the first one. And that makes it a worthwhile experience in my book.

TL;DR: Absolutely worth $10, maybe $15-20, absolutely NOT anything above that, and if you like to test your breaking point and going beyond it, this is the game for you.

Great varied boss battles. It does not depend on luck, but on skill. And it will definitely require skill, specially if you're aiming for the platinum (I believe it is one of the most difficult plats to date).
I believe that the game pays homage to shadow of the colossus (water boss, boss kill animation, etc...).

You should buy if: Like a challenge, like old school visuals, likes skill better than grinding.

You shouldn't buy if: You want a visual masterpiece, like to develop a character (lvl up, aquire new skills, this is not present in this game), want an easy plat.

With its unpopulated landscapes and large foes to defeat Titan Souls is effectively Shadow of The Colossus in 2d.

In all honesty there is a little too much time spent wandering around the environments between battles but the fights against the Titans, which are effectively the entirety of the gameplay, are fortunately entertaining. Titans can be killed by just one arrow in the right spot but just one hit from them will also result in your death, this makes for some intense battles as you search for an opening whilst trying to avoid the attacks coming your way. Some may find this challenge oversteps the mark into frustration at times but for the most part it just about stayed the right side of the line for me personally.

It’s not a classic but Titan Souls will provide a good 3-4 hours of entertainment for those looking for a good challenge.
