    This game is very good in what it intends to do. Great varied boss battles. It does not depend on luck, but on skill. And it will definitely require skill, specially if you're aiming for the platinum (I believe it is one of the most difficult plats to date).
    I believe that the game pays homage to shadow of the colossus (water boss, boss kill animation, etc...).

It seems any game with Souls in it requires a certain kind of player and Devolver Digital, who bought us Hotline Miami, have come up trumps again . If you've played Demons Souls, Dark Souls and/or Dark Souls 2 then chances are this is a game for you.     If you're a player who revels in the ability to figure out an encounter using logic, patience and pure skill and you get a rush of adrenaline when you best those encounters using your own intuition and not having watched a solution on YouTube then Titan Souls is for you. It's a brutally punishing, extremely rewarding game that has a very simple premise, kill or be killed and you should expect to be killed many, many times.

    You are a lonely warrior with 1 arrow and 1 hit point. Equally the bosses you face have 1 hit point but typically they wield more than just a puny little arrow. There's no fluff, no real story, just you, a moody score and myriad bosses waiting to be worked out and gimped by you.

    On the face of it Titan Souls looks like an impossibly hard game until you look through the trophy list (in which a platinum is available) and realise the game can be beaten in less than 20 minutes. There are various modes such as Iron Mode, in which death doesn't send you to the nearest checkpoint, it resets the entire game! Another where you can't roll at all. This should prop you up by telling you that it's simply not as hard as it initially looks. Each boss has a particular way to beat them and you owe it to yourself to work that out, not watch someone else do it.

    Also available as a cross buy cross save with a PS Vita which allows you to take this game on the road.

    Grow a pair and enter the world of Titan Souls. I doubt you'll regret it.    … Expand

This 2D hybrid of Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus is probably one of my favorite games from them to date (aside from Hotline Miami), and serves as a solid boss crawl even if it is a little simple on the surface.

    The premise is you are a wanderer equipped with a single arrow and bow, and can only be hit once before dying. Sounds hardcore, and in later stages in certainly can be, but there is more of a strategy/puzzle aspect to the boss battles in this game, so its a different kind of difficulty. Most bosses can similarly be killed in a single hit, so timing is key. The load screen between deaths is VERY short and there is not a lot of backtracking if you clear each area the first time through, making the difficulty even more tolerable.

    The core concept here is strong, but I feel like it could have been developed a little further still. The feel and pacing of the game doesn't really change from start to end, but its such a good pace that it didn't bother me too much. All in all, if you are a fan of boss crawls, dont miss this one.

    8/10, maybe wait a month or two, Devolver games tend to be cheap or free from time to time, one of the reasons I like them so much!    … Expand

    For what the game is worth, it is a great experience. That is, if you are paying $10 or less like I did. I finished the whole game (all titans, challenges not accomplished) in 2.5 hours, almost on the dot. If it was a $30-40 game, the added difficulty challenges would just make me hate it this game for the lack of content, but I had enough fun with this game, despite my anger at the bossesFor what the game is worth, it is a great experience.     But for $10, I got a wonderful soundtrack, nice animations, unique game play features, cool mechanics, astounding bosses, and great extra modes after the first one. And that makes it a worthwhile experience in my book.

    TL;DR: Absolutely worth $10, maybe $15-20, absolutely NOT anything above that, and if you like to test your breaking point and going beyond it, this is the game for you.    … Expand

    * You only have one arrow.
    * If you get hit, you die.
    * The main gameplay is boss fights. Most involve solving some sort of puzzle to figure out how to kill the boss, using your arrow and/or the environment.

    That's the basics. It's a little like Shadow of the Colossus, except with a 2-D overhead view.

    Don't be fooled into thinking that this makes the game easy in any way, shape, or form. Without revealing details of any of the fights, suffice to say that the game designers have created some very interesting and difficult boss fights, some of which rival some of the more interesting Souls game boss fights.

    Some reviewers mock this game for its 2-D overhead view and it's simple graphics. If these are things you absolutely cannot stand, then this is a game you should take a pass on. However, if you enjoy challenging gameplay where your victories are thoroughly satisfying (think Souls games), then you should really pick this game up.    … Expand

    Do you know why this was originally released for the psvita? Because it depended on real life distractions to periodically pull you away from the game to keep you from having a mental breakdown. The game is hard, and the battles end quickly, usually with your death, and it's emotionally taxing to watch your character bloodily massacred every minute.     You'll notice I gave it a 10 despite this. That's because the game is damn near perfect. It's only flaw is that it isn't meant to be played for long periods of time. Pace yourself. When you get stuck on a boss, stop playing and come back to it in the morning. Maybe have a timer set to 1 hour or 30 minutes. But whatever you do, DO NOT BINGE ON THE GAME. You will hate yourself and most likely break something.    … Expand

    El juego no está nada mal, los gráficos son preciosos si te gusta el estilo Pixel-Art y el desafio es real, para mi más difícil que cualquier juego de la saga Souls, tan laureada por su dificultad.
    Advierto que si, al igual que yo, te frustras rápido y enteas en modo rage con facilidad este título se va a llevar unos cuantos años de tu vida, no por su duración, sino por el estrés.

    It's hard and beautiful. Well worth trying if you like the accomplishment of killing the titans. I think it's on sale through Humble at the mo too. Well worth a go!

    It's problems lie in design, though - the largely empty world seems almost superfluous and you'll come away from each encounter triumphant, but lacking any sort of reward. [Issue#257, p.70]

    Titan Souls earns its rightful place as one of the toughest games of all-time and while some will immediately fall for the elegant yet simple design and alluring fantasy world, others may be turned off by its unrelenting difficulty.
