Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a direct adaptation of the Dead Shall Rise comic book which was received poorly by fans and non-fans alike. The whole game retcons the complete masterpiece that was the Legacy of Kain series and renders all choices Raziel and Kain made meaningless. The gameplay is atrocious and boring and the AI fluctuates from stupid to input reading levels. I was longing for a new Legacy of Kain game, but instead we got a bad adaptation of an even worse comic book. Crystal Dynamics should be ashamed of themselves since they knew how poorly TDSR was received. Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call that you cannot mess with the classics and reinvent the story just because you can.

Another year, another Call of Duty, but worse. The campaign is an insult, the multiplayer additions are minimal and the removal of SBMM is not impacting anything of significance. Sure, the zombies are back and are fun, but does one mode justify the high price of this entry? I think not. This is a barebones, uninspired yearly iteration that does not deserve to be in competition with BF6 and Arc Raider who clearly are going for the win and did not just give up like BLOPS7 did.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is a disappointing mess, unworthy of a once great and unique racing franchise. Concord is another live service game that will be a cautionary tale to developers not to chase trends. A bog-standard hero shooter with messy meta game elements will not bring people over from Overwatch. The fact that they charge 40 euros for this will only be a detriment to the game and I personally expect the good old serviceshutdown.jpg on X in the near future.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League desperately tries to lure you in with its funny “quirkiness” and looter shooter gameplay, but fails miserably by completely ruining the narrative of almost all DC characters, making them obsolete, weak and poorly written. You can see some sparks of RockSteady’s talent here, but ultimately, the whole experience is very generic, repetitive and extremely disappointing.

The best thing about Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash is the fact it’s one of the very few video games based on the renowned anime franchise. The rest of it is mediocre, dull, stiff and repetitive. A few solid moments in the pile of sad and poor content makes this a hard game to recommend, but an easy one not to.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is not a remaster at all. At best it has some new features that should have been free. No Return roguelike game mode is lackluster and there is no point in playing it. TLOU combat was complementing the story, and it did so very well – unlike No Return which is basically hide and seek with extra steps. For a layman, the graphic improvements are unnoticeable, especially if you haven’t played it in a while, and there are a bunch of new bugs that were previously absent (falling through the ground, missing limbs on character models, etc). The lost chapters are neat to get some dev insight, but are almost unplayable, as they are mostly alpha. This should have been a free DLC for the fans and not a quick money grab. Naughty Dog, take a note from Santa Monica Studios.

CoD: Modern Warfare III is a glorified DLC that should cost no more than $10. This is a ridiculous attempt at a “game” that has literally no new maps and a campaign that is set in Verdansk, a map from the first Warzone installment that was released four years ago! One of the worst gaming experiences.

As if Gollum hasn't had his fair share of suffering, Daedalic Entertainment has decided that we have to share some more with him. Unfortunately, a potentially intriguing angle of storytelling and an ever-interesting world this time falls short in every sense imaginable - crashes that occur more often than you can count, unpolished gameplay, inconsistent voice acting and storytelling... Sadly, there are a few things more precious than your time - the time you could spend elsewhere, not playing a game that has lost its direction and, unfortunately, turned out plain bad.

The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a macabre metroidvania that is inconsistent at all levels. The gameplay is rough and imprecise, while the voice acting is, depending on the character, a mix of both horrible and amazing. Overall, the game fails to establish a definitive tone or direction. I expected so much more, and I genuinely hope that at least the gameplay aspect of the game will be fixed and improved in the future.

Redfall is a major disappointment from a well-established studio that brought us the hit Dishonored. While I expected an immersive sim that would build on the phenomenal foundations of their previous games, I got a cookie-cutter looter shooter with an empty world, a non-existent story and very little fun. With the steep price attached to this title, I would not recommend it even with a fat discount.

The Settlers: New Allies is a basic and easy RTS. Unfortunately, the game has no complexity for an RTS which hinders advanced strategies and even “cheese” mechanics. The campaign is forgettable, and the skirmish mode offers little in variety, not to mention the horrible multiplayer stability. I was very hopeful for a new Settlers game but got a “Babies first RTS” instead.
