Although Lego The Hobbit is a fairly good game, it's yet again another clone of the Traveller's Tales' Lego franchise. The game mechanics haven't changed and especially monotonous combat system really gets to my nerves. Battlefield 4's third DLC is far from perfect, but at least it manages to offer four highly enjoyable maps. Stupid little thing that proves, that you can make it with a crappy game, as long as you remember to monetize from a bad joke and the hype vortex circulating it. Dominions 4 is a turn-based strategy game set in a non-traditional fantasy world filled with various nations inspired by mythology and religion. As a player you first pick a nation and then customize your god. Then you just need to wipe out all the other factions and their false gods. Isn't that simple? The game really shines in multiplayer mode because fighting against real humans feels much better than dealing with AI factions that can't even use diplomacy. The best thing about Dominions 4 is the fact that it has tons of depth and replayability but it's a shame that the graphics and user interface are outdated. Well, I guess you can't have everything. Hack & slash games are addictive because they follow a simple formula: kill, kill and kill some more. Path of Exile is no different in this regard. During your quest in the perilous continent of Wraeclast you need to slay thousands and thousands of monsters but it never gets boring because there are a plenty of fresh ideas like the very vast skill system and barter-based economy that differentiate it from other similar games. But it's not a perfect game. The story is weak and the difficulty level is too low in the beginning. [Dec 2013]

A model Kickstarter project, delivering exactly what it promised, on time. And on top of that, it is a fine, turn based strategy game in the classic mold to boot. Maybe even a bit too classic: more originality in design of the world and mechanics would have only improved things. A demonic journey into a 90's virtual metropolis is almost as satisfying and frustrating as the best members of the Shin Megami Tensei family. [Oct 2013]

Shelter is a bit short and a bit too easy, but it's also beautiful, touching and unique. Also, it's a game about badgers, how could you not like it? I would love to see an expanded sequel, even if it would just be more of the same. [Oct 2013]

NHL 14 is an enjoyable hockey experience. Aside from the new collision physics, however, there are no major improvements to be found. Live the Life mode is way too superficial, and the enforcer engine turns annoyingly repetitive all too quickly. NHL 94 anniversary mode is only good for shared fun. [Oct 2013]

Killzone Mercenary is a competent FPS. Nothing more and certainly nothing less. Multiplayer modes are a bit anemic, though, and for only eight players. What's the problem here? [Oct 2013]

Even a die-hard detractor of the Grand Theft Auto series (yes, that's me) is forced to admit that "V" is one sweet game. In fact, it's one of the best of this generation. [Oct 2013]
