The pace is slow - even for a tactical title - and once you figure out that "strategy" here consists entirely of shooting something, then finding a place to hide, you've pretty much cracked the whole enchilada. [June 2004, p.81]

Exploration is usually a big part of the enjoyment of games like this, and unfortunately, you never get the sense that you can do this here. [Oct 2002, p.112]

It's the same as "Gauntlet: Dark Legacy." And by "the same," we mean "virtually identical." [Jan 2003, p.92]

Crash of the Titans makes a solid, if uninspiring, choice for younger fans of the series, but everyone else should head for more enjoyable all-ages fare like "Beautiful Katamari" or even--yes--"Surf's Up". [Holiday 2007, p.82]

Admittedly, the game is gorgeous. But because the narrative is as linear and rigid as a steel pipe, it's a shallow sort of beauty. [Sept 2007, p.83]

Strania isn't horrible, but its garden-variety blasting is too many light years away from memorable. [July 2011, p.77]

The game's dull, repetitive missions drive home the harsh truth: it's an aggressively average action-RPG that's here far too late for anyone to care. [Mar 2011, p.76]

It's a wise parent that rents, as those tiny gamers will make short work of this fun but brief experience. [Aug 2007, p.81]

As Mass Effect DLC goes, From Ashes isn't as spectacular or impactful as ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker; it's more a carbon copy of Kasumi - Stolen Memory, the companion DLC for ME2's thief character, Kasumi Goto.

The premise is full of universe-expanding potential, but ultimately, it's undermined by mind-numbing gameplay.

A lightly entertaining diversion - but only when played with a controller. The optional Kinect controls can be extremely fussy: using your right hand to aim the reticle works okay, but triggering spells with your left hand often requires multiple exaggerated movements. Having to flail around to launch even the simplest attack is the very opposite of god-like.

Aging starfighters might be grateful to have a new galaxy to save, but mostly they'll be left pining for the lost glory days of Wing Commander IV and Privateer 2. [July 2011, p.81]

Unfortunately, the majority of the game is spent hacking completely brainless enemies who literally turn their backs and wait for you to deliver the coup de grace once you've hit the A button enough times. [July 2007, p.81]

Unfortunately, Kinect problems abound: the fussy, imprecise motion-reading is frustrating(especially when you're blocking and deflecting attacks), and some of your physical actions require exaggerated movements. [Oct 2012, p.79]

This Kinect offering works well enough, but Teen rating aside, it's best suited for younger fans looking to live out their anime daydreams.

That simplicity is also its biggest problem--pointing and clicking requires little strategy, so rather than always playing, you'll be watching dudes fight. Yawn. [Dec 2008, p.73]

Marathon is certainly interesting for aspiring game designers and historians who want to observe Bungie's roots. But as a $10 offering in 2007, it just doesn't hold up very well. [Sept 2007, p.74]

While the game deserves kudos for its trippy and 'toon-y visual style, the hard reality is there's no compelling reason to give up the 800-pound gorilla that is "PGR2" to adapt to Auto Modellista's driftacular controls, especially since the game's Xbox Live implementation is fairly bareboned. Kee-rash.[Apr 2004, p.80]
