Ultimate Shooting Collection presents three recent examples of arcade shooters and is firmly targeted at fans of the "bullet hell" subgenre or just shooting fans who might want to see what's been happening in Japanese arcades in the past ten years. Whilst none of the games on their own is particularly special, it should definitely have a space on the shelf of any shoot-em-up fan.

You need to have a high frustration level if you are going to play this game. This is the type of game where the races are usually close and the chance to win or lose it all at the end is almost always a possibility. While this can be fun when it works your way, it is incredibly frustrating to be on the losing end.

Bplus has succeeded in creating a very fun little action-platformer with Niki – Rock ‘n’ Ball. The simplicity of the game and its fun gameplay structure makes it perfect for a quick play now and again, despite the unforgiving learning curve after the first few worlds.

It’s short course list, lack of online play, and easy computer opponents mean that the game will have a short life span unless you bring some friends over to play it with you. Even so, with it’s amusing and easy to pick up and play mechanics, its multiple controller options, and easy on the eyes graphics this is a solid WiiWare release which is worth investigating.

Family Glide Hockey is basically one giant missed opportunity and a game that makes you wonder exactly what the developers were thinking when they put it together.

Although the shooting sections are fun, and some of the game’s boss battles are very impressive, there’s not a huge amount of variety in the standard levels or the enemies that inhabit them, so although the story is compelling be aware you’ll be doing a lot of the same between the start and the game’s climax.

Planet Pachinko isn't necessarily a terrible game, it just has too many balls in the air at once. The pachinko theme is unique, and you certainly can't fault the developer for trying to make the game as intense as possible, but there's a fine line between intense and out-of-control and Planet Pachinko seems to have crossed that line.

It would be easy to dismiss Jungle Speed simply because it is, at its core, basically a video game version of an entertaining card game, but if you do you'll be missing out on a wildly addictive game that you and your entire family can enjoy.

Having two game modes is good because there is a little something for everyone here. The first game type rewards right-brained creative types while the second game is designed for more analytical left-brainiacs. Unfortunately, both types of people will most likely feel somewhat unsatisfied by each; they are both very simple, lacking in repeat play value, and suffer from unforgivably clumsy controls.

A very strange and unique game. Perhaps it is not one that will keep you glued to the screen for hours at a time, but it really is addictive and will have you coming back often to try and better that elusive high score which you set the day before. With friends around the proposition is even more attractive.

For die-hard fans of snooker, billiards and pool, Cue Sports does the job nicely and may even be preferred to Midnight Pool because of its more serious nature and the addition of full online multiplayer.

Tiki’s world of bamboo is an entertaining game with bags of personality. Some of the later levels will take you quite some time to solve so there is easily enough gameplay on offer here.

The problem solving aspect of the game isn’t a bad thing; if anything, it’s the only reason to keep coming back. We just wish the game offered more of a reason to encourage repeat play than high difficulty level.

Episode 5 is about videogames – that can really only mean good things! It’s not longer than any of the other episodes, nor is there more to do, but it’s got more jokes than any other entry in the series, plus we finally get to see Trogdor in 3D – what more could you want?

Make no mistake, Big Kahuna Party is a fun game. But so are all of the other Bejeweled clones. It’s a victim of its own success.

Barely functioning controls, cheesy gameplay and an unrewarding experience all add up to an inexcusable attempt to cash in on an apparently untapped market.

Bruiser & Scratch proves that no matter how good a developer's intentions and ideas are when they set out to create a video game, if the end result isn't enjoyable, it's basically all for naught.

Space Invaders Get Even is a wonderful new take on the franchise. Reversing the roles was a stroke of genius. Blowing up buildings never gets old and it’s fun to be the bad guy every now and then.

‘Casual’ Wii games that you can play while socializing with friends are popular these days. With a simple 'pick up and play' style and strategy to reward repetitive play, Target Toss Pro: Bags fits in perfectly with this style of play.

The puzzles are varied and enjoyable whilst remaining genuinely challenging, the range of modes on offer are interesting but not overwhelming and the stats are detailed and accurate. However whether or not you should buy a game like this is entirely subjective.

There's no denying that Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam has some enjoyable elements to it that will appeal to some gamers, but the streaky play control, sharp difficulty curve and fairly short length make it hard to recommend, especially when you take into account the 1000 Wii Point price tag.

This is certainly not a game aimed at the hardcore demographic who enjoyed Mega Man 9, but it is far from a bad game by all means. With 50 levels and the additional ability to design your own dream home if the game concept grabs you then this could be a solid purchase.
