What matters though is that mobile gamers can at last enjoy a faithful and enjoyable act of service to a treasured gaming franchise, and it's one that takes advantage of all the graphical bells-and-whistles that modern hardware spoils us with.

Fans of the original game can rest assured that this is the same game that they played and loved all those years ago. If you missed out on the game the first time around, know that Pinball Fantasies (even acknowledging its occasional, current hiccups), is still one of the finest pinball simulators that gaming has ever produced.

Pictorial HD is not a complex game, it's not a challenging game, and in many ways it's a rather repetitive one. But it's wonderful nevertheless, and it's also impossible to play without having a great big silly grin on your face. If there's a better reason to pick up a game than that, I really can't imagine what it is.

Without question one of the most beautifully crafted and fun video games to come along the past ten years. Peggle HD will be familiar to millions, but for those who have yet to experience this masterpiece, oh, how we envy them.

It's a fun game overall, just not groundbreaking. At the end of the day, we had no trouble putting it down, or completing a stage with the lowest number of points to move to the next one.

My Railway HD is likely to divide gamers. On the one hand, it's one of the most enjoyable freemium titles that we've played for a very long time: it looks beautiful, its mechanics are more engaging than most, and the game does an excellent job of guiding you through your career progress.

Great Little War Game HD is much better than a three out of five. We just couldn't award it a higher score knowing it crashes on iPad 2. If you can deal with that, or have the iPhone/older iPad, this App comes highly recommended.

Ultimately, the overwhelming frustration makes Fragger HD a huge pain in the butt.

If your mobile device does more than just entertain you on the way to work, but also provides your kids with some sanity-saving distraction, then they'll love the world, music and characters, but become quickly frustrated with the game.

Provides several hours of fun, and it's great to see this type of game on the App Store. We think $6.99 is a bit much, but if you're into this type of adventure, it's a solid pickup.

Contre Jour HD is a crowning achievement, an app that earned every one of its five stars. Smart, attractive and fun, it's one of the best reasons to own an iPhone or iPad.

It's cool while it lasts. Unfortunately, the lack of mission variety makes Rocket Riot a bit tedious, while the missing multiplayer mode is a real letdown. Had it come packaged with even local MP, we would've increased the score.

Is it the deepest, most complex game on the App Store? Of course not. You can plow through the entire thing in a few hours, maybe less. On the flip side, The Lorax was more entertaining than we expected, and the fact that we didn't have to spend a dime was key. A treat indeed.

The real kicker, though, is the price. Namco Bandai gives away the short prologue free of charge, then asks for a ridiculous $8.99 to unlock the rest of the game. If you have the cash to burn, Time Crisis: 2nd Strike HD is a solid purchase, but we suggest waiting for a price drop, or going with the cheaper iPhone version.

So yes, Trucks and Skulls is a direct Angry Birds clone, but it's a great one. Not only is it immensely enjoyable, but it also has a cool presentation, with post apocalyptic backgrounds, mean looking trucks and plenty of explosions. Even the levels sound hardcore; Fortress of Bang, Indestruction.

We literally have nothing bad to say about World of Goo. It's a wonderful puzzle game that every iPad owner needs to download. Prepare to spend hours, if not weeks, playing this one.

What it can never simulate of course is the rush of a win, and what you're left with is a rather depressing experience: a true simulator of our bleak economic times where no-one can afford to do much that's real anyway.

As a single player game, there is a great deal to like about Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile, and even the negative elements such as the low framerate can't detract from the varied moves, decent selection of characters and sparkling environments. Sadly it's only half an offering at present.

It all comes down to how much you enjoy these types of apps, and whether you dream of owning an airport. If either sound appealing, Airport City HD will definitely keep you entertained. For how long will probably depend on how much money you feel the game is worth.

There are a few niggles surrounding Symphonica: the story's ridiculous, there's far too much cut-scene waffling and the beats are ever so slightly off, but we had a huge amount of fun playing the game. Anyone who enjoys rhythm games should definitely check it out.

Blood Brothers 2 is a great strategy game. The artwork looks unique and there are a lot of interesting generals to assume the role of. The game is held back by an unforgiving stamina system and its need of a constant Internet connection, but don't let these issues prevent you from experiencing what is an otherwise quality effort.
