Zday's a cool game worth checking out, and at $1.99, you have little to lose. Moving forward, though, we'd like to see free updates that flesh out the story. Much like a zombie, this title could use more meat on its bones.

/ ESCAPE comes up short, however, with its lack of online leaderboards, which is quite baffling, given the fact that most games these days (at least on iOS) come with Game Center support. That ultimately knocks / ESCAPE down a peg. Otherwise, it's a fun and action packed romp with plenty of thrills. Leaderboard or no, it's still worth a buck.

We cannot recommend Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull enough. The combination of full motion video works surprisingly well with the proven hidden object formula, creating a wonderful journey that'll prove invaluable on long airplane trips or just a dreary day stuck at home. Now git. There be treasure to find.

Sadly, this is little more than an empty shell that reminds us of some college project the student couldn't finish on time.

No crazy graphics that take advantage of the new iPad's screen, or revolutionary features that push it ahead of the more advanced titles on the App Store. Just simple retro-themed goodness that kept us hooked much longer than we thought it would.

You don't often see free games of such high quality on the App Store, and when you do, a bunch of annoying ads partially ruin the experience. There is no such problem with Cordy Sky, and we applaud SilverTree Media for reintroducing us to such a charming hero while at the same time making Doodle Jump a fond memory.

Unless the environmental progression and reward systems are also drastically tweaked it's a very tough game to recommend, even with the free cost of entry.

Coign of Vantage is one of coolest games on the App Store, and you'll thoroughly enjoy seeing jumbles of pixels come together to make cats, hearts and joysticks.

Blast Ball is one of the coolest $0.99 titles on the App Store, and we hope it serves as a blueprint for new sports in the years ahead. Now all we need are some monsters.

For the most part, though, Lock 'n' Load provides several hours of dark, twisted fun. There's also a lot bang for the proverbial buck, with 16 primary levels, another nine stages in the unlockable Call of Minions campaign and finally, six challenge maps, all for $0.99. So while it isn't the most original title on the App Store, Chillingo's blast fest definitely helps relieve some stress after a tough day at work.

So it's challenging (and perhaps a little too much so), but if you want something different that also highlights the extraordinary potential for placing game development in the hands of players, then we can't recommend the game enough.

Die-hard fans of Cohen's films will no doubt get a bigger thrill out of this gaming version of his latest comedy, but for everyone else it's a bit of a throwaway experience.

A refreshingly different and fun game, with a 50s desert road-trip soundtrack that sets off the puzzling perfectly.

While this is a pretty and challenging game, it may simply turn out to be one that's a little too rich for your racing blood.

We think it's a cool change of pace from most zombie-themed titles available. At the same time, No Zombies Allowed doesn't pack a big enough challenge, as the toughest parts have little to do with killing monsters or even managing personalities. Instead, it's all about wrestling with the decision to part with cash. We chose to keep ours.

The spirit of the show is certainly here, even if an especially solid gaming experience isn't.

There's plenty to like about Banzai Blade, and the fact that it's free makes it an impulse download you won't regret. Far from exceptional, but definitely worth playing a few times a day.

100 Floors is everything that's great about the App Store and gaming period: playfulness, inventiveness and a deep sense of satisfaction whenever your triumphs unfold before you. And even though there's a puzzle based on the periodic table within the game, you really shouldn't let that put you off downloading it immediately.

Monster Paradise is one of the better monster gathering games we've played on mobiles, and those with less aversion to the cynical business model will enjoy what's on offer. We're still waiting for something special though, and Paradise's business model as well as its opaque, Skinner box questing means this isn't quite the obsessive collection game we've been waiting for.

The developers kill the music prematurely. You'll start to get the hang of things and then, suddenly, the song stops. If anything, it left us wanting more. A shame, since Moonshark's game is so enjoyable.

It's certainly true that there are a huge number of endless-runners vying for everyone's attention at the moment, but Hiptic's GoNinja offers up enough variety (just) to make it worthy of checking out. If you've become utterly exhausted by the genre though, it's unlikely that the game will give you a second wind.

The presentation hooked us from the beginning. The simplistic and mostly black and white graphics take us back to the Atari 2600 days, and the spacey music does a great job lulling us into a somewhat relaxed state.

With a far great focus on action and reaction, rather than deep strategizing, it's a very different take on the tower-defense genre. Disappointing though it is that consumable advantages are available for cash when you've already bought the game outright, it's still fun enough to play without them.

Combine that with the uninspired battles, and Sinbad simply lacks an addictive hook. Eventually, we questioned the point of playing this game, and after failing to come up with a good answer, deleted it. What could have been, oh yes. What could have been.

Run Fatty Run is a fun distraction and a somewhat decent motivator for people with a few pounds to lose, but it does little to advance the running sub genre, or hang with the best players in the game, for that matter. Still, it's a huge guy running from a tiger. Make of that what you will.

As a piece of interactive artwork, Funny Wood presents a glorious feast of intricately detailed animations, exploration and discovery. As a game though, it's very lacking and its method of handling those meager gameplay elements, to make those items so unsatisfying to find, will leave players of all ages feeling frustrated, rather than challenged.

We had fun while it lasted in Monster Story. Those with a fondness for empire-building games, and who long for a revival of the Viva Pinata franchise will get much from the game, just as long as they also have a great deal of patience to go along with that passion.
