Dropping $20 on the DS or Game Boy cartridge would be a complete waste on your part, as you find yourself hosed by a game promising holiday cheer and instead visiting the reindeer stalls and giving you the content.

I'm not saying it's all bad, I'm saying so many games do this sorta thing so much better that it's not really worth the time or investment unless you keep posters of Gwen Tennyson on your wall.

Once it gets here, however, you should consider it, not just because of its glossy production values but because of its "good ol' time" of shooting action.

You could spend $20 on worse things, though. Labyrinth doesn't quite have the legs to live up alongside other puzzle games, but it does offer a little bit of substance for those looking for an exercise in strategy and cunning.

As wary as I came in, nothing could have prepared me for just how fundamentally broken this game is. I can only imagine how frustrating this experience would have been to an infant (assumedly, the target audience). What could have been a quick-and-easy cash-in for Majesco, recommendable to the most hardcore of Holly fans, is a complete mess, a Holly Hobbie that nobody could care for and sadly, should have been aborted.

In the end, Major League Baseball 2K9's shortcomings keep it from surpassing its handheld competitor, MLB 09: The Show. However, the variety of modes and mostly fun gameplay make it worth hitting the mound.

Because of these hiccups, Samurai Shodown Anthology isn't as sharp as it should've been. Still, for fans seeking a quality portable fighter, it earns a modest recommendation.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus shouldn't be missed. It's an outstanding game with the type of controls, presentation and extras to make any fighting fanatic proud.

Despite its good looks, MX Vs. ATV Reflex doesn't hold up on the PSP. The controls fail to deliver, and the lack of working trick and jump systems will leave you grounded, both on the track and in spirit.

Sorry, THQ, we know you were trying to create a fun portable racer, but MX Vs. ATV Reflex for the DS doesn't measure up to the console version. The slippery controls, questionable collision and unbearable sound make this a game we'd love to forget.

If you're not in the mood for a full Brain Age release, Arts and Letters is worth messing around with. The main games are fun and the addition of Themes mode prolongs the replay value better than we expected. We're all for new downloadable Brain Age releases, as long as they work as well as this one.

007: Top Agent is a boring and slow-paced strategy game that further soils the Bond video game legacy. Don't purchase it, not even for ninety-nine cents.

Super Soviet Missile Mastar lacks the assorted bells and whistles of more advanced iPhone/iPad games, but we can't resist its old school charm and low price of free; an online leaderboard would make it a 4/5, easily. Play it for five minutes, and we guarantee it'll make you strong, like bull.

Even worse, the game only has one mode, and players need to find at least one other person to enjoy the game. There's no single player content to speak of, so forget about competing against bots. That would be easier to deal with if Battle Royale had online play, but it's local only.

On the positive side, Kick Buttowski is fast-paced and fun, the type of App you can whip out and score a quick fix without having to wade through cut scenes or even load times. We just wish it had a restart button mid level, ala Angry Birds, but that's a small issue compared to the game's lack of content.

Had XMG made the first level a bit easier, Inspector Gadget's MAD Dash could've been one of the iPhone's best games, but it's much too difficult. Then again, we downloaded it free of charge, so if you grew up watching the carton, there's still a lot to love at that price.

KartRider Rush is a decent racer with cute graphics and solid tilt controls (or buttons, if you prefer that option), but the easy computer opponents, local MP and reliance on micro transactions makes it more of a curiosity since it's free to download.

It's certainly not the prettiest game, nor is it the most original (some enemies bear a striking resemblance to the Helghast from Killzone), but Overkill has enough content to keep you blasting away for weeks. The fact that it has 30 ranks (from private to general) sweetens the deal.

Kids may love it, especially if they're nuts about Kong and don't have access to a game console. But Kong: King of Atlantis was merely built with license in mind, and feels soulless and cashed out as a result.

Taken for what it is, Nightclub Story is a decent title for little kids, despite the subject matter (mixed drinks in a club hardly screams E for Everyone). Clearly, TeamLava needs to add a ton of additional content to beef up the game, or risk missing a huge opportunity to, as they say in dance clubs, make some noise.

Is Pac-Chomp! the most original effort? Absolutely not. It's Bejeweled with ghosts and power-pellets, but it's still a cool puzzle game with just enough content to warrant a purchase. We just hope Namco Bandai creates something more original next time.
