Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a sequel that not only outshines the original, but also does the free-to-play game system justice - a rare feat for apps these days.- Modojo

Mikey Shorts did a lot for the platforming market last year, and for just under two bucks, Mikey Hooks does even better with a new mode, a great new gameplay tactic and that same wonderful presentation from the original. One play and you'll be, ahem, hooked.- Modojo

Skylanders Lost Islands is very much a gentle combination of familiar empire-building with the deliciously addictive finger-tapping of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, but it brings both of these elements together so wonderfully, and in such a perfectly polished package, that we couldn't help but fall in love with it.- Modojo

If you're one of those boring old-fashioned gamers who values crazy things like fun, compulsion, and competitiveness, you really owe it to yourself to grab this stellar action-puzzler.- Modojo

The characters are gross. The actual game play, on the other hand, is golden. You only receive so much ammunition per character, and once it runs out, you must restart that stage from the beginning. What ensues is slow paced fun, as you strategize the best ways to annihilate the Blots.- Modojo

All things considered, Amateur Surgeon 3 is a very worthy addition to the series, and will delight fans of the earlier games. If you're new to this maverick surgical action, you may find the humor just a little too dark, and the action a little on the squeamish side, but if you like your gaming to have an off-beat flavor then you owe it to yourself to get stuck into this frantically meaty gameplay.- Modojo

100 Floors is everything that's great about the App Store and gaming period: playfulness, inventiveness and a deep sense of satisfaction whenever your triumphs unfold before you. And even though there's a puzzle based on the periodic table within the game, you really shouldn't let that put you off downloading it immediately.- Modojo

As someone who's slogged their way through more than a few tower-defense games this year, that first moment of manning a high-explosive turret put a very big grin on my face. If you're in need of a convincing reason to delve into yet another game in the genre, developer Colossal has a very good one for you indeed.- Modojo

The excellent fusion of music and traditional block falling play continues to impress, reinvigorating the series and leaving the door wide open for even cooler sequels down the line. Pick this up immediately, and grab a pair of headphones while you're at it.- Modojo

The core gameplay may never evolve beyond steering directionally, flying through hoops, gathering stars and proceeding along a series of on-rails levels. But it's done so competently, and with some much care and attention to detail, that you won't fail to fall in love with Kiloo's new creation.- Modojo

If you've tired of physics puzzlers and fancy a platforming experience with just a little more bite, then One Tap Hero deserves to go straight to the top of your download list. It's precision platforming at its best, with enough charm and ingenuity to win over even the most jaded mobile gamer.- Modojo

Ultimately, this mobile edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown is an almost flawless port of one of last year's finest games. If it's a truism that you get what you pay for in life, then the depth, satisfying gameplay, replay value, and challenge on offer here more than adequately answer any questions about that price.- Modojo

As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to download Toy Story: Smash It!, from the head-scratching puzzles to the welcome fan service. Appropriate for all ages, Disney has once again provided an iOS title that does the respective license proud, and with more levels on the way via update, we expect to keep this game on our devices throughout the year.- Modojo

All in all, Crush! is an outstanding example of a game that's easy to learn and very hard to master. Delivered with the trademark, crisply polished presentation of every other Radiangames title, what you're left with is an essential purchase for any mobile puzzle game.- Modojo

Puzzle Craft is a wonderful example of how to attract the casual, the hardcore, the cynical, and even the most bitter cash-for-progress gamers of the world together. I am addicted to an empire-building game, and if you've read even a fraction of my previous polemic against the genre, you will know by now that this is the highest accolade I could ever bestow on the game.- Modojo

Granted, there are few portable Resident Evil games to choose from, but Revelations is by far the best, and it's perhaps even better than some of the console entries. Capcom stumbled, but still managed to offer a thoroughly enjoyable romp filled with intense monster blasting fun, along with dump trucks full of gore and some unexpected plot twists along the way. A must for all 3DS owners.- Modojo

You don't often see free games of such high quality on the App Store, and when you do, a bunch of annoying ads partially ruin the experience. There is no such problem with Cordy Sky, and we applaud SilverTree Media for reintroducing us to such a charming hero while at the same time making Doodle Jump a fond memory.- Modojo

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a great pairing that makes for an addictive game. Once you start, you will be immediately drawn into the story and won't be able to put the 3DS down. Fans of both series will be very satisfied, and should demand a sequel. Well done overall.- Modojo
