When the God of War saga makes its Playstation 5 debut, we are treated to a grand adventure with strong characters, bombastic scenes, beautiful vistas, and exciting battles. At the same time, it is a very faithful sequel where it is noticeable that the roots are partly stuck in tech from 2013. In the end, Ragnarök is a worthy sequel and an excellent action game, but we cannot deny that we would have hoped for a little more.

Naughty Dog has not only succeeded in following up their 2013 masterpiece, but also refined all the different elements in the sequel. The story is more complicated and also more relatable. The characters feel more alive than in other games and the surroundings are among the most impressive we have seen in gaming. But most of all, we appreciate the message the game carries constantly in the background. A message that reminds itself long after the game's ending has rolled.

Initially we were a little skeptical of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Our expectations were so high, but we got bored by the repetitive tasks. However, after about five hours something happens with the game. The Animal Crossing spirit engulfs us for real, and we reach for our Switch as soon as we get the chance. The third entry in this astounding rts-franchise builds on everything we loved about the second. Total War: Warhammer 3 is a love-letter to the Old World and the fantasy genre, and even though we have some gripes with the campaign, we have to take a bow for Creative Assembly.

Listen, gun and run. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard successfully manages to deliver a horrifying first-person survival experience by grasping series' roots in the murky swamps of rural Louisiana. Finally, Capcom is back on track again.

Luigi's latest adventure is an adorable and well-made game that is far more diverse than we first thought. Exploring the hotel sometimes feels as extensive as the usual Super Mario adventure, instead of the brief experiences that preceded it. In addition, Luigi's arsenal has grown and with the help of Gooigi we also get a whole new way to deal with the many puzzles the hotel offers. But above all, it's the variety of ghosts and their surroundings that makes Luigi's Mansion 3 one of the most entertaining adventures this fall, despite some tricky controlling methods.

The multiplayer is as unique as ever, and the addition of a single-player campaign (however brief) helps to pad out the game and give its best ideas more room to breathe. Not everything works—least of all the writing—but if nothing else Respawn proves it’s a studio willing to experiment, to push boundaries in a way Battlefield and Call of Duty largely stopped doing years ago.

With its fast and fun action, Returnal can look like a cool sci-fi game where tons of enemies turn into colorful explosions at a fast pace. That is also how it feels for a while, until we die. And die and die again. Everything wants to kill us and when we die, we must start all over again – without most of the items, weapons, and enhancements we had collected. It is frustrating, yet we can not wait to restart immediately. We want to keep exploring the sinister world, we want keep fighting against all the horrible creatures – and most of all we want to understand what is happening to Selene. The unforgiving setup will probably divide people, but for anyone with an interest in sci-fi – this is a gem.

Forza Motorsport 7 is an exhilarating and easy-to-play racing game that is perfect for everyone who doesn’t want to waste their time on anything but reaching the checkered flag first. And on the track, Forza impresses with a ton of cars and intense races. Unfortunately the somewhat terrible AI, a few game breaking bugs and a complete lootbox-craze left us a with a sour taste. We still enjoy our time with the game, but it is not as fine-tuned as expected.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is in every way a reminder of where the adventure genre was in the early 90’s. It has a pretty shallow story, badly written dialogue and underdeveloped characters. Surely the remastered will probably make fans of the original happy, but for anyone else this is more a proof of how much story telling and puzzle design has progressed since.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an engaging experience unlike anything else. The open world mechanics are top notch and there is almost always something to do on the map. Furthermore, we have a large number of different game paths to choose from, all of which give you a very own experience of the story. Combined with the hundreds of weapons, augmentations, upgrades and side missions, there is plenty of material that will last over a long period of time. Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely be remembered as one of the most significant titles in the history of gaming media.

After almost ten years Twilight Princess still is a pretty decent adventure, though not close to being the best in the franchise. The world isn’t that interesting, and the dark story feels a bit outdated compared to more modern titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And sadly the HD edition leaves us a bit unsatisfied, mostly because the lack of content and the fact that the visuals should be better.

The Outer Worlds is an extremely familiar experience that successfully draws inspiration from some of the most appreciated gaming series of the 21st century. It's well written with lots of exciting twists in the story and has lots of memorable moments. The character gallery and humor definitely carry the story and although some elements could have been improved, we still are very fond of Obsidian's new space opera.

After nearly two weeks with Starfield, the feeling is that there is still plenty to see and do. An epic space adventure in every way that will suck you into a black hole of entertainment. The game has its problems – especially in the weak main campaign – but you'll definitely have other things to do.

After nearly 12 years Doom is back, and what a comeback. The action is both intensive and smooth, the combat mechanic is surprisingly deep and the graphics are fantastic. On the negative side the design starts to feel a bit repetitive towards the end, and the online mode isn’t as balanced as the best games in the genre. But overall, Doom is just pure fun.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a clear upgrade of the original concept. The feeling of being the Spider-Man is constantly there, especially when we swing through a technically impressive Manhattan that we have never seen before in games. It is simply a demonstration and a new standard for how open, endless worlds can be built with the help of the next generation of consoles.

Definitely a greater game than the first Nioh, although still difficult to recommend to all action aficionados out there. After all, it's still a "soulsborne" type game and will take a lot of your time. Those with patience will experience the greatest fulfillment after defeating the various difficult bosses. But if you're not ready to devote your free time to memorize the fighting system: Turn around! There are limits to how much we can die before our console goes out the window.

Saber Interactive has set a new standard for Switch conversions - now other developers can no longer blame the hardware. It is not a perfect depiction of the earlier versions technically, but that was never really the point. For those who intend to play on the TV, then console or PC versions are preferred. But if you want to carry with you one of the biggest adventures of recent years, there is no doubt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Switch contains everything we loved about Geralt's latest adventure and is the ultimate proof that the game has unbelievably more substance than just a detailed world.

Two Point Hospital is a spiritual sequel to the 90’s classic Theme Hospital. The goal is to build hospitals, hire staff, attract patients, ensure that the budget is kept up and so on. That may not sound very fun at all, but thanks to a lot of humor, easy-going gameplay, a well-balanced difficulty level and constant rewards, it is easy to get sucked into the hospital world for hours. Two Point Hospital is simply a modern version of the laid-back and fun-filled simulators that charmed the gaming world 20 years ago.
