Return of the Obra Dinn is simply gorgeous, from the idea to the execution. Finally a gem in which your deductive skills, your logic and your patience are really important: this game doesn't help the player. With an amazing graphic art and a strong gameplay, another great game from Lucas Pope.

Alan Wake 2 is the most authorial, visceral, and ambitious game ever made by Remedy Entertainment, which will delight fans of the series with a new adventure with dark tones that improves on the first chapter in many ways. The transformation into a survival horror game has also revitalized the gameplay through a disturbing atmosphere, transposed in the best possible way thanks to a well-told story and charismatic characters. Despite a general variety that is not always up to par, Alan Wake 2 has rightfully entered the club of the most exciting games in 2023.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a successful "first time" for Guerrilla in the open world genre. The game isn't perfect, but it's gorgeous to see and explore (best open world graphics ever) and offers engaging fights against fascinating machines.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the perfect sequel to an already great opening chapter: bigger and better in almost every way, it refines and improves the previous formula by adding some new weapons and gameplay mechanics, while staying faithful to what made its predecessor stand out as a unique and quite charming game. And also, it features an even more involved story with a richer, more vibrant cast of memorable characters.

An interesting formal adaptation of an adventure that, nine years later, still has a lot to say.

Joe Danger Touch is not just a pocket Joe Danger, but the bright, fun, challenging and very rewarding third installment of the series signed by Hello Games, with a new control system that works properly, even when it comes to jumping the shark with the iPad. Worth much more than the two and a half Euros it costs.

This is probably the best version of the game: touch controls are intuitive and precise, and Advanced Edition's content offers a hundreds of hours of challenging but rewarding gameplay.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a masterful piece of storytelling: well told, heartbeaking, and its variety of styles compensates for the lack of interactivity.

Plain and simple, the best Tetris incarnation currently available. Now with new interesting multiplayer modes.

While not reinventing genre mechanics, Cocoon is an intriguing puzzle game that immerses the player in an introspective journey through spheres that encompass entire worlds within them. Despite being notably simple, it offers well-constructed enigmas and a remarkably well-balanced learning curve. It doesn't reach the expressive heights of titles like Journey but represents a significant advancement in Carlsen's games, inviting the players to reflect on themselves and the worlds they've created. Highly recommended.

Lorelai and the Laser Eyes has the charm of its title: it is a mysterious and polymorphous object, concrete and elusive simultaneously. It relies on the conventions of the genre but it's not afraid to defy them to narrate an intense and melancholic journey along the uncertain trails of memory.

Mario Kart 8 is a beast: with great track design, plenty of characters, karts, bikes and power ups is the best Mario Kart of all time. Also thanks to revamped online modes and some gorgeous graphics, is the single reason you need to own a Wii U.

A wonderful editor, which is actually a whole new Mario. This is not an editor to recreate old style levels: its own limitations dictate a level design style for quick experiences. The result, while not for everyone, is amazing.

On Xbox One and PlayStation 4 FIFA 14 grants more depth in its mechanics and some stunning visuals. It's a pity that the new Ignite engine does nothing to improve the cut-scene and that some game modes are now missing. It's a joy to play, but we can expect a lot more from FIFA 15.

Ellie grows up looking at the grown-up world of The Last of Us through her youthful eyes. It takes only a couple of hours of our life to grow up with her, though. If you have 15 euros Left Behind to play with Ellie and Riley, just do it. Your combat skills won’t grow up too much, but you will be filled with emotion by this short yet touching coming-of-age videogame.

Mikey Hooks is a really good game, based on a solid gameplay and a really precise control system. It could instead have been a great game, but it's too short and easy, and even if the Race Mode adds some fun, it's simply not enough to make the final step to greatness.
