There's no reason for not buying GTA San Andreas: this is a masterpiece that everyone should play, even if touch controls are a little clumsy. Easily the best Rockstar Games port so far.

A great addition that makes sense mostly if you plan to play on the go. If you think you'll play Skyrim mostly at home get it for a different platform.

Behind the lucha libre galore there's a solid action-game, with polished core mechanics, stunning visuals and a beautiful “old school” feeling. Lacking the perfection and the sense of loneliness of Super Metroid, Gaucamelee! may be too easy for a seasoned gamer. Beside that, it's fun and addictive.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a bet won by Sega. It's hard to propose such a radical change to the game structure, and as games tend to switch turn-based to real-time fighting, it must have been hard to go the other way. Equipped with a strong identity, an unforgettable cast of protagonists and a narrative that strikes straight to the heart, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a game full of ardor and passion. The new Sega’s game is so rich in content that you can fill up to three games with it and have a more to spare for DLCs. Prepare to lose yourself for over a hundred hours in Yokohama's glossy nights: it’s an experience all JRPG fans - and maybe not just them - should live.

Graphics and options are almost the same, if you're not a Miami Heat fan, but gameplay's been polished to the max. Even if there's little new content, NBA 2K14 can still throw it down like an All-Star.

DiRT Rally 2.0 is a solid improvement for the rally sim made by Codemasters. The physics and the driving model are top notch, even driving with a joypad, while the lack of a couple of locations and the general aging of the Ego Engine limit the game scope.

Child of Light is as great a game today as it was four years ago, a delicate and stylish gem which shows that even if you produce AAA title with dancers and assassins you still manage to create something ethereal and gentle.

Beacon Pines is an adventure that takes shape before the player's eyes, but the gameplay feels so much limited because of the narrative. Despite that, it tries to tell a meaningful arc that overshadows its shortcomings by delivering a coming-of-age story in which it is worth diving.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided doesn’t betray its heritage: it improves on several aspects of the previous chapter in the saga and provides a high quality experience along the whole adventure. However, some of the characters in the game are not as deep as in the previous game, and the underlying menace could be pushed a little more. Overall, one of the best games published in 2016.

Thumper is far more than a simple, stunning rhythm game: it's an astonishing vertigo at crazy speed that messes up with your brain in a kaleidoscope of psychedelic colors and industrial tunes, an unforgettable trip into a sinister and mesmerizing dimension that thanks to PlayStation VR becomes real. Simply put, an instant classic.

Axiom Verge is more than a spiritual successor to Metroid. It’s a tribute to an era, a story whose words are pixels, arranged with maternal care and extraordinary wealth. In addition to being a great video game is also an ode to the past, the cry of a creature never really extinguished, that now more than ever is able to recover from the ashes of the mass market.

I found the first game in the series to be a smooth and enjoyable adventure — only partly dated, with its rough edges softened by the new features introduced by the development team. As for Dragon Quest II, I was even more impressed by how modern many of its mechanics feel and by the variety of the overall experience, which also provides a solid level of challenge, especially on the “Draconian Mission” difficulty. Of course, these are still productions from the mid-1980s which, although updated, retain the charm of a bygone era — something that may not appeal to everyone — and this is particularly noticeable in the somewhat unexciting mission structure.

Football Manager 2020 brings together all the little changes made in the last two years taking everything to a brand new level of depth and accuracy. The management part of the game is quite perfect, crystal clear and the new club vision system works really great. On the pitch the situation is still changing and if the idea of the extreme fluidity of modules and tactics is excellent, Sports Interactive needs to balance the situation with a couple of patches. The potential is huge, but to see it fulfilled for real we need to wait the winter transfer window.

A convenient opportunity to replay the whole saga where you want. Or, just in case, to find out what this BioShock is that everyone has been talking about for thirteen years, of course. Too bad for the not exciting graphical quality of the two remastered games, especially the first one. In handheld mode, at least, you don't notice it that much.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III is a narratively rich role-playing game, with deep and well-drawn characters and stories ranging from epic to tragic, without dwelling too much on stereotypes, an almost physiological element of this genre. Too bad for the absence of the first two chapters in Nintendo Switch's game library. Though exhaustive and rich in detail, in fact, the various summaries in the start screen can not make up for the lack of "playful experience" that only a direct use can return.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is like having an arcade at home, filled with joy, memories and a brilliant take on classic beat'em up. It's not perfect, it doesn't have huge amount of contents, it's never too original but well, Tribute Games take on Ninja Turtles is simply fun to play and stunning to admire. Good alone, great with friends, it's a love letter to arcade gaming without stressing too much on the nostalgia effect.
