Civilization VI is pretty much the best incarnation of the famous series on release day. It takes things from Civ V and makes them better, plus it introduces many changes and new additions. And it's really pretty. There are some classic issues with a not-so-smart AI on top of the pile, but the "one more turn" syndrome is strong. And that's the best recommendation you can give.

Battlefield 1, DICE's newest baby, leaves its competitors in the dirt. It's a full-fledged installment in the series, a game on the Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3 level. A game that offers an eagerly awaited atmosphere of a real historical conflict. BF1 officially ends all this futuristic and plastic warfare nonsense and returns to the roots.

My first contact with the Paper Mario series turned out to be very enjoyable. The Thousand-Year Door provided me with a great adventure full of discovery (both in terms of the world, and storyline). If you want to try something a bit different, this is a good way to go.

Heroes of the StarCraft saga deserve a better finale than the one shown in Legacy of the Void. The story isn't very appealing but fortunately the gameplay is. The missions are diverse (though a bit too scripted), new game modes are interesting and the unbeatable multiplayer mode has become even more dynamic. It's all good but you'd want even more.

Will we be playing Diablo III ten years from now and be as happy with it, as we are with its predecessor? No doubt. Even though the new Diablo has some technical issues and some solutions create controversies, the gameplay model is timeless. An interesting quest system, engrossing battles, versatile gameplay and a masterpiece of a multiplayer are only some of the game's qualities.

It's not the worst console port I have seen, but it surely isn't the best one. The only real flaw of the PC version of Monster Hunter World is the buggy multiplayer mode. Everything else works just fine and deserves some attention - after all, this is one of the most captivating adventures in the virtual world ever.

Portable version of LittleBigPlanet is a very good game without any bigger flaws. PS Vita finally gets a game that showcases the console's abilities. LBP also demonstrates that mixing classical controls with touch panels makes sense, but it has to be done as an integral part of gameplay and not just a silly gimmick. LBP for PSV is a must buy for all owners of Sony's newest console and it should become an investment for months to come (thanks to creative fans of the series).

Blizzard does it again. Legion is one of the best (if not THE best) expansion in the history of World of Warcraft. I'm having as much fun as with The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. The game returned to its roots and is offering a sense of true wonder. Even if PvP is a bit broken there's no better time to return to WoW.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire mixes the classic epic feel from Baldur's Gate 2 with freedom of exploration from Fallout, and still offers a modern and surprising story and a great set of characters. Pretty much every element of the game has been improved. All hail the new king of classic RPGs!

Forza Horizon 4 introduces pretty much zero revolutionary changes and the veterans won't find anything genuinely new here. At the same time, though, it has so many perfectly realized features that the competition (The Crew & Need for Speed) are left far behind in the dust.

Nioh shines! The fighting system is satisfying, Diablo-like loot and character development motivate you to keep playing, and gameplay mechanisms reminiscent of Dark Souls complete the image of a really good game. It combines well-known elements but in the end becomes something else entirely.

Is it possible to create an accessible and modern game that's still an uncompromising, engaging and demanding experience? The Witcher 2 proves that it is definitely possible. Time spent with Assassins of Kings flies unbelievably fast. The player is thrown into a dangerous world full of betrayal, corruption, intolerance and battles for influence.

NBA 2K13 shoots and stores - lots of interesting improvements in the gameplay make the new basketball from Visual Concepts into something almost perfect. New game mode and exciting multiplayer matches guarantee additional hundreds hours of gameplay and the improved physics engine works quite well. It's a pity, that there isn't much history of basketball in this game - previous installments were more generous in this area. All in all, competitors aren't needed in this genre - NBA 2K13 is a terrific game.

You won’t find a challenge in Mixtape, just a superbly directed adventure in which teenage fears, stunts and drama intertwine with dreamlike imagination and pure, unbridled fun, all carried by one of the best video game soundtracks of the year. And that’s quite enough for me; as someone who remembers rewinding a cassette tape with a pencil, I had a brilliant time.

The new Halo from 343 Industries is a big step in the right direction. There's no revolution to talk about, but there is some fresh air being pumped into this series. There aren't enough unique new things to bow down to the developers, but Halo 4 provides loads of fun. If you're an old fan, you'll be very pleased. If you're against Halo - it's a great opportunity to give the series another chance. Halo 4 is not the best installment in the franchise, but definitely is the most atmospheric and varied one.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is one of the best expansions in the history of MMORPGs. It turns FFXIV's storyline upside down, introduces cool new classes and has an amazing soundtrack. It won't appeal to people who don't like FFXIV, but the fans should be in awe. It has everything they like, but it's bigger and better.

The Old Hunters is a very good DLC that needs some time to gain full momentum and even during weaker moments its quality is high. The artistic vision isn't as clear and overwhelming as in the basic game but I had great fun and all Bloodborne fans will feel the same, I'm sure.

Hitman 3 surprised me a little and offered more than simply a rehearse of the same good-old stealth action. The solid foundation was complemented by really diverse missions and a strong storyline - a great game became even better. IO Interactive has certainly just delivered the best installment in the rebooted series.

I was expecting Injustice 2 to be good but I was still surprised by the high quality of the game. Creators of Mortal Kombat definitely feel the genre - they removed the mistakes, improved all that was good and added come cool new features. Fans of beat'em up games need to add this to their shopping list.

The remake of Final Fantasy VII isn't perfect. It has some highly redundant and simply boring side activities that derail the narrative at times, and the visuals are very uneven. But all of these are minor hitches. FFVII Remake is so much more than a mere nostalgia act. It's probably the most daring game Square Enix has created in years - one that generates great emotions and tons of fun.

Some minor flaws turn RimWorld into a slightly flawed diamond. It is a truly unique game, one that appears every few years. I have been following RimWorld's development from the beginning, and every session with this game was superb. The same comment applies now.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition finally looks and feels like a game it should have been a long time ago. It has depth, lots of content and a superb fighting system. It is a right choice for rookies and veterans alike, and at the same time it's the best beat'em up of current generation.

Don't dismiss the Hawaiian atmosphere and old gameplay core right off the bat. Pokémon Sun has some cool improvements and is diverse enough to make it feel almost as good as legendary Pokémon X, Y or Black and White. Fans of the series don't need convincing but everyone else should give the new Pokémon game a chance - Sun is made for playing.

Pikmin 4 may not be GOTY candidate, is not on everyone's lips and will probably not gather a massive following. However, its simple, carefree pleasure in great quantities is more than enough to make it worth your time.

I still can't escape Final Fantasy XVI's world. I still think about all the events and the ending, and can't play any other game for now. Those are the kinds of feelings that emerge after watching the greatest of movies, reading the best of books and playing the perfect games. Just wow.

Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5 is really a great racing game - simply, because there is no competition. However, when looking at it from the racing genre's perspective, it lacks novelty and seems like a game which should have been released 5 years ago.

Speaking as a fan of Returnal, Saros brought me hours and hours of fantastic fun; I couldn’t get enough of the beauty of this dark world. The game’s biggest problem is its simplified and safe approach; there isn’t enough originality or confidence in its own design vision. If you’ve played the previous game, you’ll get more of the same.

I had a blast playing Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. I almost forgot how good these games are, and they look better than ever on Switch 2, so I had even more fun. If you’ve never played the original games, you definitely should give it a chance – they don't make them like that anymore.

FIFA 14 is a mature, well designed game without spectacular innovations. The new shooting system or a bigger influence of the Fist Touch Control system are interesting conveniences, and transfer improvements or novelties in the FIFA Ultimate Team mode are most welcome. FIFA 14 continues ideas introduced in the previous installments - sometimes stability is better than bragging about a revolution (that never came).
