The guys from Red Lynx made a good decision to keep the game's formula intact. You don't change what's been tested and what works. The base of the game is the same as before, but the amount of changes is big enough to make the game feel more than just a money grab. The title says it all - it's a well-prepared evolution.

FIFA 12 is a better game than its predecessor. A modified defense module and control scheme work perfectly and allow to "feel" the game better, and a new physics engine (although not ideal) looks impressive. This new EA Sports game is worth every penny. It's a great investment for long months of gaming, giving the player lots of joy when scoring goals and brewing those great football emotions. It's a next step on a road to perfection.

Can you even want more? Realistically speaking - not much. Spider-Man 2 isn't a 10 out of 10 perfect game deserving, but the series is on a good way to make its third installment a true masterpiece.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a great metroidvania and a worthy sequel. The developers have used proven solutions borrowed from other games, but were clever and creative about it. The game is coherent and will surprise you more than once. Is it as powerful and the first part? No. Is it as fun as the Blind Forest? Definitely yes.

Dota 2 is a great game that has a price to quality ratio set somewhere around infinity. Beginners are screwed at first, but eventually they will discover a new, extremely satisfying level of gameplay. Dota 2 is an amazing game because of its strategic depth, constantly varying games, and established highly competitive scene. This game generates challenges both for the casual and the more serious player.

Pretty much everything here appeals to me. Guild Wars 2 is a game that meets most requirements and it will definitely stay on my hard drive for a long time (and I can't say that about The Old Republic). Playing this game reminded me of the first impressions after launching World of Warcraft. I'm not comparing these two games in terms of content or which game will become victorious in a long run. It's about this strange feeling I had after playing WoW - that MMO games can be so pleasant and cool to play. Guild Wars 2 is just like that. It's a new quality in the genre, a standard for others to implement in their games.

The new Deus Ex is a remarkable game that will gather a lot of praise, I'm sure. Its level of complexity made me believe that there are still some developers out there capable of creating an original action game filled with content that is aimed at a demanding gamer. For me Human Revolution is a worthy counter-part for the original Deus Ex, something that BioShock was supposed to be for System Shock 2: a complex action RPG, not a simple shooter with some story turning some pipes as the most challenging puzzle.

FIFA 13 demonstrates that virtual football in the hands of EA's Vancouver studio is getting closer and closer to perfection. The number of novelties and changes is a very pleasant surprise and should make the owners of 2012 edition want to buy the newest installment. The developers made sure that there will no boredom: frequent updates, additional challenges, many online tournaments and a complex career mode create an image of a complete sports game with tons of things to offer.

This turn-based game is worth every penny: the developers have created a superb and minimalistic strategy game, which has an excellent system of achievements making you crave for more and more and more... Remember - defeat is only a beginning and the satisfaction is great.

Sekiro obviously piggybacks on the Souls series, but doesn't stop there. It was a risky move, but From Software proved once again that there's no match for them. The exposition of the game world and its rules are surprisingly easy, but the game quickly kicks you in the teeth with the perfect combat system. An instant classic - once again.

I appreciate the fact, that developers have made their homework. Tekken 8 has all the things I wanted it to, ane even more. Right now this is the best instalment of the series (since the near-perfect Tekken 5) and the best current-gen fighting game.

Shogun 2 is the best installment in the Total War series. Well-known patterns, due to many years of evolution and constant introduction of new elements, have reached their peak in Creative Assembly's new creation. Even though the game isn't perfect, I have to admit, I had enormous fun with it. The newest Total War's force of attraction is astounding.

Rayman's newest adventure is an excellent game. There's something for everyone - a campaign easier than the one from Origins (casual gamers will have a blast), and lots of difficult challenges for hardcore gamers. The game's audiovisual side is perfect, it has superb levels and big amounts of content. What is more, Rayman Legends opens up slowly and keeps being interesting for a long time. Fans of the genre have no choice, but to buy this game without asking too many questions. It's that good.

NBA 2K12 is one of the best sporting games in history. Visual Concepts and 2K Sports continue their best traditions - the new NBA is a step towards perfection. Even though it has some flaws (mainly technical), it's difficult to find a game that suits the definition of a perfect virtual basketball production better. It'a complete game with a variety of modes and content that guarantees months of serious gamepad training.

Hearts of Stone expansion is worth every penny. Even if you usually don't enjoy story-driven DLCs (that are often boring and offer very little) you have to believe that CDP Red has made is right. This is an example everyone should follow - a great story, new characters, new equipment, new places. Stunning work. The Witcher just became even better.

We're happy to say that Devil May Cry 5 is an exceptional slasher. The combat system is great, the opponents look cool, the storyline is the best in the series, and the graphics solid, though quite often inconsistent. The veterans should be aware, however, that the game offers proper challenge only on higher difficulty levels, which are locked at the beginning.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a unique jRPG. Exceptional even. Not only fans of the genre should get to know it. The remaster for Nintendo Switch makes this game even more pronounced, allowing it to find wider audience. If you're about to play it for the very first time, I envy you.

There were many very good, or even outstanding games in the fall of 2012, but this little adventure game is something I will remember as the best, the most powerful product. No game (perhaps ever) has made such an impression on me. After finishing the story I sat motionless for a few minutes - the ending is superb! The Walking Dead is something truly exceptional and my personal game of the year. It's worth every penny.

Dark Souls III is an excellent, superbly designed game that looks and works very well. If the series had begun with this installment, it could have been deemed one of the best videogames in history. But there is a long heritage of From Software's productions and DSIII isn't really unique although its quality is very high. It's probably the best Dark Souls there can be - a must have for fans.

Obsidian has targeted a very specific audience for this game. It's aimed at someone like me - a fan of Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment. Someone who loves long documents, tactical battles, complex mechanics and stylish graphics. Pillars of Eternity isn't just a tribute - it's definitely more than that. It's a new, unique thing that sometimes surpasses the great cRPGs from the past.

One could say that Nintendo is rehashing golden oldies for the Switch. But you have to admit that Wii U wasn't very popular, and it would be a shame to lose many great games due to the platform's popularity. That's why this new version of Super Mario 3D World, accompanied by a really interesting Bowser's Fury stand-alone title, looks so interesting.

Dark Souls is a game for many hours and one of the most intriguing journeys this year. But unlike most games, it's not a trip to a lovely holiday resort where all your whishes come true. On the contrary - From Software's game doesn't want for you to get to know it. But after some hard work and battling all the odds you get to the end. And then you know: it's an experience that will stay in your memory for a long time.

If gameplay that's unremarkable at best doesn't distract you from a very original artistic & design direction that's painfully necessary in the video games business. And that makes Psychonauts 2 praiseworthy!

FEZ is an effect of many painful years of creation, but it was worth the wait. Right now it's definitely the best adventure platformer for XBLA. Perhaps FEZ is two years late to be called a milestone, but it can most certainly be called a work of art.

Borderlands 2 is a complete, exceptional game. A perfect example for other developers on how to make sequels. Not only does it have a well made, very long campaign that can be completed solo or in co-op mode, but there are lots of smaller and bigger changes and tweaks that make the gameplay so much more enjoyable. All the things that were imperfect before are better now. I have a feeling that there won't be a better game this fall.

There are a few prerequisites you have to meet in order to enjoy Fire Emblem: Three Houses for dozens of hours: you can't be weirded out by the Japanese weird, you have to accept the unique visual style and hundreds of silly (but mandatory) conversations and activities, including fishing, growing plants and eating soup. If you think you lack at least one of the above skills, we recommend finding another game.

I’m as captivated as I am frustrated by Forza Horizon 6. It’s still the best open-world racing game on the market and I intend to spend hundreds of hours playing it – but after a four-year wait and significant competition, I was expecting more innovation. It’s simply more of the same, just on a fresh and beautiful map.

Death Stranding 2 doesn't have to be perfect, but it is exceptional as a game and a sequel. It's hard for me to point out any real flaws. I played like a haunted person, looking forward to the next scenes. This is a complete experience - much bigger, better, more dynamic, much more interestingly conceived and varied compared to the previous installment.
