If you’re looking for a more cerebral approach to horror, you’re going to be disappointed with Outlast. There isn’t much depth – or replayability, for that matter -in this short, nightmarish rollercoaster, but it will make you jump more than once.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a bit rough around the edges, but it's so fun to play, with a well-written and exciting story.

If you don’t own the game already, but do own a PS4, then you’d be daft not to pick up Injustice: Gods Among Us: it’s a terrific fighter that runs incredibly smoothly, whilst retaining that ultra-cool ideal that only a comic book can deliver.

A resplendent addition to the Atlus catalogue, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE draws from two acclaimed series and outshines them both with an innovative combat system, radiant in-game world and charming cast of characters.

Overall, this has a few slowdown issues but the ability to play with both touch and button controls in addition to being able to play it anywhere makes this the definitive version of the game for me.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is a superb foray into the universe and a more-than-worthy successor to the original.

Sword & Shield is a really tricky Pokémon entry to pigeonhole. It retains the old Pokémon charm, but it's not without flaws.

For newcomers who haven’t experienced it, this is still a very good game; one that’s aged well. But for returning players, there just isn't quite enough to warrant another go.

A fantastic standalone prequel to the excellent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that is held back by one really annoying design decision.

Super Mega Baseball 3 is a solid baseball sim, proving grounded gameplay that allows anyone to jump in. With loads of customisation options and a great Franchise mode, it's easily the best in the series.

Farewell is upsetting in the best of ways. A wonderful, tearful, round off of Max and Chloe’s story and a fantastic appetiser for season 2.

They may have hit minor issues in the beginning, but they should be applauded for tackling these head on for the subsequent releases. With complaints over the length of some chapters, the translation issues and the long wait for this last chapter, the trilogy is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.

LEGO Dimensions is going to be an expensive hobby, because despite a few minor issues it's a joy to build things before you put them into the game, and is one of the best games in the series yet.

If you bought the original and played it, you need this port. If you’ve played The Banner Saga on another system and want to get the sequel, the Switch or iPad version is my recommendation. These kinds of games are best on portables and the Switch even gives you the flexibility of playing on TV if you want to do so.

It’s no surprise that the Sly Trilogy is a great fit for the Vita. Fun and engaging despite occasional difficult spikes, the enjoyment only tends to wane after playing for long periods, and may become slightly tiresome should you decide to marathon all three games one after another.
