At its core, Rock Boshers DX is a retro-inspired twin-stick shooter, as I said. But it's also a lot more than that, and it's worth giving it a chance to find out.

Semispheres is definitely worth picking up on a handheld. It’s not going to change your life or anything, but it will undeniably give you a few hours of pleasant puzzling.

Long story short, Knack II isn’t the greatest looking game out there, but it does what it needs to and holds its own. Considering the modest $39.99 price tag and the audience it is intended for, it’s difficult not to recommend picking up Knack II for those looking for a fun and family-friendly PS4 adventure. Knack is back!

While part of me wishes that it would take a page from the Hyperdimension Neptunia notebook and branch out a little, at this stage, that's just not what the Atelier games are about. What they're about — and what Atelier Sophie continues — is simply being an intelligent, well-made JRPG. It's not flashy, but if that's what you're after, it'll do.

For 10 bucks, the game does pass the time and can become quite addicting for anyone who enjoys games like Tetris or Columns. When put into that scenario, it seems like a great bargain... which it is!

Not the huge advancement many might expect from a new year and especially a year when they are the only game in town, but the game still plays solid, the rosters are updated, and the new modes may appeal to those coming over from the competition.

If you're looking for another tool to use to help you lose some unwanted pounds, or just another way to get the kids off the couch, Wii Fit will make a nice addition to your gaming library.

Adding deckbuilding mechanics to a JRPG may not be groundbreaking – or, at least, it’s not the way KEMCO does it – but it’s enough to transform a totally generic game like Novel Rogue into one that does something fun and interesting.

If you want a good looking game that plays well against other people online, MLB 2k7 is great. There is room for improvement, but it gets most of the top priorities right. If you want a solid franchise simulation, well, maybe next year.

Condemned 2 does succeed at what it what it intends to do, which is providing a truly horrifying experience for a player unlike the majority of "survival-horror" titles on the market. However, a bit of that "new" sheen has worn off the second time around, and while improvements have definitely been made, there's still more areas that need a bit of work.

I ended up enjoying Infinite Undiscovery quite a bit. It's not the best that Tri-Ace has created, but it's a pretty solid outing for these guys.

Sonic Frontiers is certainly different from what we’ve come to expect from Sonic and company – both for better and for worse. I don’t think anyone is going to compare it to Mario’s forays into open (or open-ish) worlds, but if nothing else, it definitely provides an interesting way forward for a series that has often seemed like it’s wandering aimlessly in search of a purpose. Sonic Frontiers doesn’t give it that purpose, but it does suggest it’s not far off from finding it, either.

Nonetheless, it's still a good, solid hidden object game — and if some of the ensuing titles are anything to go by, that's a much more difficult achievement than you'd think.

Bit.Trip Complete feels pretty much spot on to the WiiWare releases, but with bonus content to give previous players some incentive to buy it. Is it enough of an incentive to re-buy if you already own all six games? I don't think so. But it's certainly the best option out there for people that are new to the series.

Easily the best single player-oriented first person shooter since Valve Software’s "Half-Life," Volition has strongly stepped its foot into the door as one of the better developers in the genre.

Obviously, if forma.8 were anything near a full-priced game, it probably wouldn’t be worth picking up. But seeing as it’s free with PlayStation Plus this month (and fairly reasonably priced on a number of other platforms), it’s hard to say no to a game that’s as pleasantly unobtrusive as this.

Overall, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a worthy game that stands above a semi-oversaturated genre with stellar co-op, fun, and goofy arcade elements, and so many throwbacks to 80’s zombie horror George Romero himself would have loved it. The somewhat cliche campaign and lack of solo care might put some off, but if you have friends to play with, and want one of the best zombie-slaying experiences in recent years, Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the place to be.

Sega Rally Revo is a great addition to a fun arcade racing series, and is a fantastic entry point for new fans. However, if you prefer your console racing experience to a bit more sim based, this isn't the title for you.

I do think, however, that if you're going to draw so heavily from those old games, it should be in the service of something more ambitious than simply imitating your influences and calling it a day. And that's why I don't see the point of Ninja Senki DX's existence: it aspires to nothing more than to borrow liberally from those old games, without in any way building on them or looking at them in a different light.

All in all, as a digital re-release for $20, you can’t go wrong with Brutal Legend PC. At the very least, you’ll appreciate its soundtrack, characters, and metal-inspired world… The game could be considered a bonus and it'd still be worthwhile.

It’s nice to see the series turn itself around a bit after the lackluster release of Ghosts, and if we’re going to continue to see yearly releases for this series, then hopefully more will turn out to be as fun as Advanced Warfare.

In other words, it’s a cross between Robo-Cop and Hotline Miami, thrown over whatever twin-stick shooter floats your boat. It doesn’t do much for me, and I suspect that, in years to come, if I ever try to recall Jydge I’ll have a hard time differentiating it from Neon Chrome, but if you just want a solid twin-stick shooter, it’ll do.

The game looks fantastic and is the ideal leap above its predecessor you would want in a sequel. Fourteen unique characters move and fight with such splendid animation, that you would be awestruck if you had the time to really see it between spawning.
