The game touts itself as a bite-size ‘pick-up & play’ action title and by all counts it absolutely delivers on that promise, however once you’ve done everything there’s no real reason to go back…yes the title does unlock a hardcore difficulty level which you must get through the game with only 1 heart, but the effort required will probably not reap a bountiful reward. Nonetheless, the title is worth a taste, and could absolutely be a comfort meal.

Seeing as Tetra’s Escape isn’t promising all that much, I find it hard to get that worked up about any of its drawbacks. It doesn’t ask much of players — in terms of time, money, or brain power — and in return, it gives you an hour of pleasantness. It won’t be anybody’s Game of the Year or anything, but it’s certainly enjoyable enough to pass the time while you’re playing it.

Because there's such a massive disconnect in quality between the online and offline versions of MLB 15: The Show, I'm really not sure how I feel about it. On the whole, Drill Deal is far better than it has any right to be. It’s not about to make me run out and buy a car or change my attitude towards the oil industry (for the record: still wholly against it), but as these kinds of simulators go, I’d be lying if I said it was anything other than a solid game.

I'm entirely pleased with what Yoshi's Woolly World has accomplished, in regards to delivering a complete and well-designed Yoshi's Island game, but much is lost in the goal of recreating the past. While Artoon showed that that a sequel can be strong if it's by-the-books, it's disappointing to see Good-Feel unaware of what else to do besides revise the art direction and remove a controversial element of baby characters.

While the title doesn’t soar as high as it’s predecessors it is an absolutely competent release in this pseudo series. Players of all ages will be able to pick up and play and it even provides hardcore players a hook to keep the game installed/inserted into the console. Given that it is announced that golf would be added as a free addon later in the year, one would hope that some other missing sports can be added post launch (give me back baseball and boxing damn it!). Killing Floor 2 only does one thing, and it does that one thing very well. Intuitive controls, good graphics and a stellar soundtrack all make for some awesome, Zed killing fun. It is easy to get burnt out on however if you aren’t a die-hard fan or don’t have a dedicated team of players. The room for growth here is huge, with the possibility of future modes, new bosses, new classes and double experience weekends to help move through a class faster, but as of right now it is just a very good, single experience.

Here, by contrast, it feels like players are given too much agency, and the end result is a story that has all the right pieces, but comes off as disjointed when you're expected to make them all work together. Mario Strikers: Battle League thankfully leans closer to original Strikers than Charged. While the changes to the gameplay does not necessarily shut out casual players, there’s some meat for those who want to take a more tactical approach. The game leans towards extensive online play, leaving more isolationist players a steeper hill to climb to unlock all the game has to offer. If you plop someone down like me in front of those games, I’ll gravitate to the latter, and feel like the former is just mashing buttons – even if I know there’s depth that I’m just not getting. I feel the same way about Kirby Air Rider: anyone can pick it up and play, but if you really want to get the most out of it, you’ll need to be much more attentive, not to mention willing to play with other people. So if you have a Smash Bros. hole in your life and can’t wait for SSB Ultimate’s official successor, you should definitely give Kirby Air Riders. You may just love what you discover.

Mutant Football League really impressed me if you couldn’t tell. You know if you’ve read some of my previous reviews that I’m a big football fan, so I’m sure that plays a big role in this. I do think non-fans would have fun as well, just as arcade goers did in the late 90’s with NFL Blitz. Maybe it’s been too long since we have had anything other than Madden to please football fans, or maybe MFL is really just that good, either way I really like it and find myself going back to it over and over despite its vanilla modes at this point. I’ll add that The Heir of Glen Kinnoch looks very nice. Again, we’re only talking about static screens, but given how ugly some hidden object games can be, it’s nice to find one that actually puts some effort into how it looks. To be sure, none of this makes Faircroft’s Antiques: The Heir of Glen Kinnoch an essential buy, nor does it mean you need to load up on the other games in the series, Faircroft’s Antiques: Treasures of Treffenburg and Faircroft’s Antiques: Home for Christmas — though both of them have the same mixture of nice visuals and interesting (by the genre’s standards) puzzles. While I get why they’d want to do that, in its own way it feels as calculated as any of those licensed games. But I’m probably being far too cynical about LEGO Builder’s Journey. Less arcadey than EA's Triple Play series, while not as much of a sim as 3DO's High Heat Baseball, MLB 2003 fits comfortably in its own niche as a solid effort all its own.

It’s nowhere near perfect. But for what it is, and for the (cheap) price it is, there are much worse gaming ways to pass the time than 36 Fragments of Midnight.

While most of the game exists in single-player, the multiplayer offers enough to really quench the thirst of Sudoku heads with a PSP.

I definitely have to give a thumb up to the development team that worked on making what could have been simple license cash in into a playable, and enjoyable game.

For the most part, though, Just Cause pulls players along with a promise of bigger and badder weaponry.

As it stands, I think it makes for a great rental, or maybe a discount pick-up in the future, but it's not something that Wii owners could do without.

Overall, I think Call of Duty: WWII is a better game than I would have thought possible. World War II is such a tired subject in the world of video games that I didn’t think it would be possible for a developer to revisit that well once again, but Sledgehammer did a pretty solid job with this one. The campaign has its moments, even if the story is pretty bland. But the multiplayer helps bolster the overall game in a way feels fun and enjoyable, with a back-to-basics approach that makes sense for the series to revisit.

Some levels are substantially more challenging than others, but the game always gives you the tools you need to succeed. Foxyland looks fine in a retro-y sort of way, and it sounds fine (in an even more retro-y sort of way), and it basically does everything you’d hope to get out of a Ratalaika platformer. It’s not going to wow you, but if you want to spend a few dollars and a few minutes on a game that’s not too bad, Foxyland is completely tolerable.
