Hideo Kojima says goodbye to almost thirty years of work on his series in the best possible way. Phantom Pain surprises and tightens, impresses and even torments, but primarily entertains beyond all expectations. It is everything that the stealth game in an open world can be and demands the maximum effort and participation from the players.

Skyward Sword is an old and repeatedly-repaired blade. At the sun it dazzles the eyes, but not so much to hide its flaws from the past. A new blade must be forged at last to let the blade fully radiate.

Dynamic combat, great loot and a brilliant story come together to turn Hades into an extremely addictive game which you’ll love to play for dozens of hours and which will probably never bore you.

A very conservative, but also very successful remake of a genre classic that every horror game lover should experience. If you once missed this milestone, you don't have to look back, the new version perfectly represents it and in a modern guise awakens the same feelings as the original once did.

Uncharted 4 is like a book that you literally swallow page by page, but at the same time you are sad to see the diminishing count of unread pages. You don´t want it to end, you know what is coming but nothing can be done. Nathan Drake's adventure ends, but it's probably the best final chapter you could wish for.

This truly is the ultimate fighting game, megalomaniac in scope. A huge story campaign together with cooperative and competitive multiplayer combine to form an unbelievable experience that will delight even those unfamiliar with the fighting game genre.

Mass Effect 3 offers the best of the series: a very well-narrated and mature story, elaborated major and minor missions, entertaining combat. It seals off the trilogy that has no equal among video games.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a breathtaking debut that masterfully weaves a multi-layered narrative, striking visual style, exceptional soundtrack, and one of the most enjoyable combat systems in recent years. It dares to explore weighty themes without unnecessary handholding, and thanks to perfectly written characters and constantly evolving gameplay, it holds your attention from start to finish. A phenomenal piece that proves artistic ambition doesn't have to come at the cost of great gameplay.

The visuals are breathtaking, the story is fascinating and the gameplay is never-ending. Uncharted 3 is like a fast-paced locomotive that cannot be stopped. The expectations were high, but Naughty Dog met them and even added an action-oriented frantic multiplayer. This third title clearly honours its parents, but as a child it does tricks with its pulsing vigour.

Fortunately, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth doesn't suffer too much from the curse of the middle trilogy installment. It expands the original storyline just enough and manages to offer an open world full of activities, places to explore, and rewards for completing them, just right. It looks beautiful, sounds excellent, and plays great. For RPG lovers, it's one of this year's delightful must-plays.

Playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a pure joy. This triumphant return to the franchise's 2D platforming origins showcases Mario and his companions in their best form. Wonder artfully blends nostalgic elements from earlier titles with tasteful innovations, resulting in a harmonious fusion that's virtually foolproof and won't get old easily.

Mijazaki’s return to the Souls series is fabulously scary and challenging as usual. Horror atmosphere will haunt you pleasantly and new action concept will nail you to the screen. It’s a truly unique experience given to the PS4 owners by From Software.

Forza Horizon 5 is a content-packed racing game with a refined driving model — the kind of experience that has been sorely lacking on PlayStation 5 in the long run. Its long-awaited arrival is therefore more than welcome. That said, be prepared: the sheer volume of content can feel overwhelming at first, the strong focus on multiplayer might not be to everyone’s taste, and the way the game throws cars at you feels like a slot machine in overdrive. But that’s also something you can take advantage of — enjoying a fleet of spectacular machines without grinding for in-game credits for dozens of hours. Immediate and ultimately high-quality fun is guaranteed.

The new Forza Horizon is here, but the word "new" must be handled with care. For the most part, the fifth part is the same as the fourth. The content has just swelled in all aspects, the career has deepened its storytelling and fans of multiplayer and shared experiences have even more options to get rid of it. This is the fullest part ever with the potential to entertain you for years to come, and since the four are among the best racing games of all time, its slight evolution can't be any different.

Blue Prince is a unique blend of genres and inspirations, offering exceptional puzzle gameplay and dozens of hours of investigation and deduction. The game does not provide answers directly, you need to uncover them yourself through observation, logic, and ideally a stack of handwritten notes. Without those, you may get lost unless you have an excellent memory. For patient players, this is one of the best puzzle adventures in decades. Minor flaws are easily outweighed by the satisfaction of discovery. If you dislike getting lost, find note-taking absurd, and expect instant clarity, this is definitely not the game for you.

This is what a remake should look like. The audio-visuals are stunning, the respect to the original game is palpable. When it comes to remasters of your favourite games, you should only ever wish for Bluepoint Games to make them.

One of the best games of the year and in many ways a work of art proves the rule "never judge a book by its cover." Undertale is not for everyone and it works better without any spoilers, but it is a title – without an exaggeration – like no other.

A great turn-based strategy game surpassing not only its blood-related predecessors but step-brothers and step-sisters of the Advance Wars series as well. Fire Emblem: Awakening is the new benchmark of the genre that is practically uncriticizable. At the moment on Nintendo 3DS there is not a better alternative.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe does not have the ambition to push the boundaries of the genre, nor to upgrade the old habits. In some cases, game cannot keep up and does just a little more than the original MC 8. However, it does it all marvelously, and if you have a couple of friends, you will enjoy a lot of fun.

Forza Horizon 6 doesn't innovate anything in terms of driving and is still just as fun as its predecessors. However, Japan is a much better playground with a better career and activities, this time with the ability to build your own tracks, customize garages, deliver food and much more. It's beautiful, a joy to listen to and play. It's just a shame that new cars are being thrown at you again this time, and there's no sense of any merit. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the sixth one becomes the most successful, most played and most enduring in the series.

Against the Storm is one of the biggest surprises of the year. Not only did the developers successfully merge the genres of city-building strategy, roguelite, and survival into a cohesive whole, but they also created an incredibly addictive strategy game that is just complex and challenging enough, highly variable, and deep. Even after dozens of hours, it remains fresh, engaging, and impossible to put down.
