The Witcher Adventure Game is a truly stunning digital version of the board game, that sadly only highlights how much more fun you and your friends could be having playing the physical version.

Built on the anime of the same name, Afro Samurai should have been a sure-fire hit. Unfortunately some poor design decisions have hampered its chances at success, but it still manages to entertain with fluid fighting and slick effects. It's just a shame it becomes repetitive too soon.

An inauspicious beginning for Capcom's new motorbike series that has little to offer even committed fans.

The game has virtually no replay value meaning you won’t be coming back to this often, unless you finally do find someone to play co-op with. Nevertheless it is one of the better games on Live Arcade.

A James Bond movie tie-in that unfortunately lacks any of the gadgets and fun aspects we expect from 007. Treyarch have created an enjoyable shooter that fails to live up to expectations, and is far too short to be considered anything special.

Despite some serious gameplay issues, The Godfather II is actually quite fun, in a morbid kind of way. Unfortunately, repetition and poor AI routines damage gameplay and ultimately sap the life out of what should have been a tremendous sequel.

A well-rounded action title with elements of strategy, traditional hack and slash, and arcade action.

Rango is a quality example of it's genre and up there with the best movie-game conversions, but with only four hours from A to Z is only really worth a weekend hire.

Unless you’re a die-hard fan of the sport and absolutely must play each new season’s championship, then this game is probably best skipped in favour of the inevitable follow up in 2016.

Jet Kave Adventure looks good but feels uninspired and altogether too easy for the type of game it is. Considering the strong competition on the Switch, it's hard to recommend this one to any but the most die-hard platformer fans or the younger gamers out there looking to dip their toes in the genre.

It's inevitable that simulation kings Maxis created Darkspore the way they did – near-plotless and mechanical – for that is all they have known since their inception. Hardcore RPG fans won't mind a bit and will revel in the variety and imagination on display, but others are advised to try before they buy.

WRC 5 sets out with the best of intentions, but poor implementation in many critical areas cripples the fun and leaves it stranded mid-stage.

Yoshi's New Island is a fine salute to a SNES classic and an adorable, approachable platformer in its own right, but it's only likely to have value for players new to the genre - and even then, any appreciation of the game that they have is likely to be fleeting.

PowerStar Golf doesn’t reinvent the golf-game wheel, but it’s a pleasant, laid-back diversion with a fun design sense and great camera controls that outweigh its relatively inoffensive microtransaction system.

Just Cause 4 feels uninspired and lacks anything new and exciting enough to keep players hooked. While the moment to moment gameplay is fun and refined, the lack of variety in both setting and structure makes the game fade into the background in a year packed with so many impressive titles.

If you really feel the need to be a giant monster armed with lasers and missile launchers rampaging through an innocent city, then I suppose you could do worse than picking this up. If you've got controllers and friends to spare, the co-op mode can be a good time-waster, or an alternative to the usual party games.

Shadow of the Beast is an action title whose combat simply isn't particularly enjoyable. Throw in some off-putting map design, and you have a game that's a shadow of what it could have been.

Full respect to the developers for attempting to bring together a game that allows players to approach the storyline from three very distinct directions, unfortunately it didn't all come together as it perhaps should have with the implementation falling short. Aliens vs. Predator is fun and entertaining when its good, but dull and frustrating when it is not; with more of the latter.

Level 5 has chosen to follow a tried and true formula, rather than risking anything radically different. We can safely say White Knight Chronicles will appeal more to JRPG fans than mainstream gamers.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles offers an amazing world to play in, but an underdeveloped story and menial side-quests offer little to keep players interested.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a wonderful idea that fails to deliver on almost every level. While it can be breath-taking to look at, it is a tedious chore and needlessly unforgiving. I applaud Patrice Désilets and his team for attempting something new and fresh, but great ideas alone do not make for great games.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness is a decent example of game from a niche genre. Just don't expect to be doing much more than advancing through dialogue screens and you'll enjoy yourself.
